Am i immune to edibles?

I've made every edible it seems, in different ways..and I just seem not to get the high everyone else talks about. I recently bought an ardent nova lift..I get the slightest buzz, but I want to get comatose high and it just won't seem to work.. Does anyone else have this problem?

I've tried all types of edibles including store bought with known levels of THC/CBD, and still nothing; others get blazingly high off of 10-100mg, and I've even tried upwards of 500mg with no real effects except as I get to the higher amounts maybe a little tired?

(I think I feel it a bit ... meaning if I think about it, if I've consumed 100mg or more, I can sort of tell that its there and there is some effect although minimal)

I find them effective and helpful for sleep, but like many high THC consumers, I require way more edibles than average Joe... 500mg at least or it is not worth the effort. It is so cost prohibitive to pay for edibles at this rate, nothing glues me to the couch like my own butter-made coffee cake.

People always tell me edibles don’t work for them, but if I give them one of my capsules they end up missing entire Holidays. Many end up calling out of work the next day too lol 👽👽👽

I used to think they were wasteful but now I think they are more efficient than I previously thought. As a heavy desktop vaper, 100mg capsule generally gets me longer lasting effects than vaping 100mg.

I agree with you about the canna caps. Caps that I have made have been effective and good medication. I am using rosin and getting dosages consistent. Other edibles that I have gotten from people have been hit or miss at getting the desire effect. Caps have become my favorite way to consume besides dab.

It is weird the different experiences people have with edibles. There is always tolerance to consider, but I wonder how much of it has to do with proper preparation and how much is people's livers processing things at different rates and such.

I have similar issue.
I find that if I have already vaped and then consume edibles, there is no additional high.

But if I don’t vape (at least a few hours before) and just do edibles, I can sometimes get a great, sustained high, if I am patient enough for it to kick in.

I do. I think I'm one who lacks the liver enzyme that converts the THC into some other substance that gives the buzz. I've ate 400-500mg. Nothing. A joint was better. I did sleep well. I know fatty foods are a hell when eating edibles. Greasy fast food or whole milk with heavy cream mix to drink. Sorry if you're in the edibles don't work club.

I too share the bummer gene and I feel your pain:lol:.

This write-up lead me to 23andMe, where I got scientific confirmation that I am cursed in this regard (but also blessed with many, many cousins). Some guys are able to get around this with supplements, but if you're taking certain blood pressure medications it could be dangerous. Your relationship with your endogenous cannabinoid system is highly personal and well worth exploring IMHO. Have fun and don't get caught. :)

Yea it's a bummer .. it's good to know its not just my baking skills.. I figured I was doing something wrong when making my butter or oil

Yea man I ate about 1200mg last weekend and all it did was make me tired.. I'm giving up on my edible journey, at this point I'm probably just wasting money lol

I'd love to try one of those capsules lol I get high as a kite from a half a bowl pack but 1200 to 1500mgs just makes me sleepy

In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king
We recently started trying dispensary gummies (Standard 100mg pack with each gummy having 10mg) after being given a few at a wedding. We had been drinking wine and had a mild wine buzz when someone offered us a couple gummies. After 2 hours I could feel "something" ... and then my wife, without notice, got up and headed for the dance floor. Nobody was dancing so far except her and her eyes were half closed and she had this grin on her face. My wife wouldn't normally storm the dance floor like that. It was then that I realized I was feeling "super content". The high wasn't nearly as intense as vaping/smoking. It felt like a happy, low end electrical current versus the initial zap and buzz that comes from vaping/smoking. I got happy feet and joined the wife. The wedding took off from there. At some point we were given another gummy and we stopped drinking and broke out the vape pen. The high didn't change much other than that super content feeling got warmer/stronger but still no "Woohoo"! feeling.

Having had such a good time at the wedding I picked up a pack of edibles and we used them for some binge watching. Took 2 a piece (each was 10mg) with some ice cream on an empty stomach. I decided not to vape beforehand so I could feel the effect better. My wife had vaped an hour before we started. At the two hour mark my wife said she didn't feel anything. I on the other hand had reached that same warm, content feeling I had at the wedding. We took 2 more gummies. An hour later I noted that I was grinning for no reason. The warm content feeling was stronger and there was a mild case of fuzziness on the fringe but again, no "woohoo"! kind of vape buzz. When I asked the wife what she was feeling...she looked at me, frowned and picked up her vape. My take....because she vaped before the gummies she level set her base high and the gummy high wasn't as intense..... so by comparison she wasn't feeling it as much.

We tried the gummy binge watch again a few weeks later but this time she didn't get high beforehand and neither did I. We took 6 gummies a piece this time (2 every 2 hours) and this time the high was stronger and had a slight couch lock to it but again...didn't have the intensity of a initial vape high.

If I vape earlier in the day and then vape again several hours later I never "feel" like I'm getting as high as I did during the first session of the day. I think its the same with edibles. Vaping before doing gummies may camouflage the gummy high. I also think those stories about taking too much edibles and having a bad experience temper our approach a good bit and that we are still increasing the dosage a few gummies at a time. We are still experimenting ... just got 4 packs of gummies.

I concur, it takes some organising for me, I make sure the meal I eat before the edible has no fat in it at all (=faster stomach emptying aiui) and I dont take the dose until I have the hungry/empty feeling, then I normally start to feel the first tendrils after 40-50 mins.
I find that if I have already vaped and then consume edibles, there is no additional high.
I can relate to this Jill, I have taken an edible, decided I wasn't high enough and vaped, but it felt as if the 2 things ran along separate channels?!🤷‍♀️ Instead of one, now higher, high I had 2 separate medium highs, I didn't feel any higher, but the experience felt thicker heavier, sort of had another dimension to it?

I guess im lucky. I get high AF from most edibles over 20mg.

50mg can give me a next day weed hangover.

I feel pretty much just like vaping from a weed capsule.

I wonder if there's a edible enzyme for those who cant metabilize thc?

Or a way to predigest like a mother bird feeds chicks, lol.

Serious though, at least semi serious, there is the anal route as in suppositories.

I’ve been buying commercial 500mg bags of THC gummies. Most times they are 25mg a piece. I get a relaxed feeling, not much more, and I don’t vape too often. At $35/bag, I’ve decided to start making my own medicine at home, so I can know what the real dose is. All I know is, someone once gave me a slightly larger homemade gummy, that had me as high as smoking an entire joint, so I assume I just need HIGHER doses.

Me too....but I suspect not in quite the way you mean☝️😁 for me it feels that there is some interaction and the effects of vaped cannabis have shifted since I switched to 90% edibles. Now when I vape the somnolence is markedly reduced {yes of course I had to go online to find that sleep-word🤣} and, unbelievably the munchies are not overwhelming like they used to be😇
It's good, but weird🤷‍♀️

I agree! I would start at 50mg, at least! I find that my edible dose, expressed in terms of amount of flower, is the same as what I vape, I don't know how common that is though? It seems to be generally accepted that edible weed is stronger per amount but with me it seems longer acting rather than more potent, per amount, again, I've no idea how common my experience is!

I react badly to edibles. I stick to vaping because I find edibles strong and unpleasant. I have an almost psychedelic response. It's how I have been since I was a teen back in the 90s. Sadly none of my friends are like this. It's a shame because it would be fun to have lots of avenues to ingest cannabis. But I sure enjoy my consolation prize.

I think some things concerning the effects of edibles can be modified or customized.

The obvious would be to try varieties that have the effects you like.

The easiest would be to add things to change the effects. Like adding food grade terpenes. Concentrates can act a little different than herb.

I used to recommend adding cbd, now i dont. I used to use cbd from a plant i grew (cannatonic 4) that when added gave uplifting effects.

But when i used cbd isolate i got more sedating effects.

I guess my current advice is to experiment.

My buzz theory is that regular edibles have all these other ingredients that the stomach digests which increases the chances of the actives getting destroyed.

Canna caps or basic tinctures bypass most of that complex digestion.

But still I’d probably say the strongest effects I’ve ever had were from a friends homemade cookies.

I think there's the strength and the quality of the buzz. I believe the quality of weed cap effects are due to the terpenes still present even in minute amounts. But most concentrates are stronger, and are responsible for more green outs, but have less terpene related effects..

Having said that, I agree that what else your ingesting with the cannabis, in whatever form, has a big effect on the buzz. The biggies being caffeine and sugar.
