Alfa Vaporizer by goboof

I disliked that nylon lining on the Ryot case and the logo. And I felt the same way about the hard case - kinda bulky and well hard. They dime bag cases were cheap and nice but i was going to have to go above 6" to get one with a smell proof bag. I ended up getting this bag. It's more expensive @$25 vs ~$12 but not too bad. I'm hoping it's big enough. Planning on snipping off the label and some of those inner pouches. I'll report back how it works out. Wicked excited. Does anyone have any advise on hooking this up to a power bank? Just ordered a power bank, angle usb adapter, and usb to dc adapter. Hoping this works out! :)

pjwalm- you beautiful bastard, thank you for finding and posting that. Good job giving back to the thread. I was far too lazy to figure out the plug specs on the alfa, and didn't even think there would be a direct, already made, adapter on the market.

I am looking to find the top of the line portable conduction vape. Is the Alfa king of the jungle? I have a pax and like it, other than the cleaning
It makes a great companion to the esv, just pick it up and it works with zero learning curve. This little box will get you seriously medicated.

Thanks! I do what I can. Wait until I report back that it works :) I wasn't able to find the specs on the charger so I went out of a $5 limb in hopes that all goes well. I actually may push off the purchase as my nana (moms mom) died Friday and I had just finished a Lotus sesh when they told me. High as a kite and they knew. Wasn't good. :/

Edit: Vape is coming Monday I think; already shipped. Reordered the case and external power bank. Gonna pick up a usb cable when i get the vape and visit radio shack to check chargers or when they get back to me as to the charger size.

How is the ESV? Nearly bought one but decided it would be too much of a pain to clean every few sessions with all the screws. Plus I was looking for more of a cold weather sesh vape for the time being. Leaning towards just waiting to see how the Grasshopper does. Seems like a better product if it works as planned. That sale is pretty sweet though.

I picked up an Haze recently and, imho, the Alfa beat it in term of clouds&flavor, it needs very few cleaning, it's smaller and easier to connect to a WT.

Haze is nice too, especially for concentrates and its dual-bowl (and the cans!) but it's more a sipping device and it is less conservative about taste and meds.

Both are amazing vaporizers, I just want to share my thoughts for everybody who hesitate between the Haze and the Alfa, although I'm very happy to get both!

Hello, it appears that the alfa with the mouthpiece placed next to it will fit almost perfectly into an altoid canister. If so, this would be an excellent stealthy method of storing it on the go. Can anyone confirm or deny that the alfa will fit into an altoid canister?

Just tried and it does not fit. It might if its forced though but someone else can find that out.

Thanks for the information, that sure is unfortunate to hear. Alas though, i don't think stealth was ever an issue with the alfa to begin with. Given special circumstances though, smell is of concern, and the ryot bag mentioned above is probably ideal. The alfa seems like an ideal vape for my needs regardless. Anyways. thanks for giving back to the thread.

Great Scott!
I've been really enjoying this vape. Super convenient and long battery. I take it with me to walk the dogs etc when vaping needs to be quick and easy. Its the least harsh conduction portable that I know of too. Definitely a nice portable for anyone who is more active than my pain level allows too. No crap to have to carry with you, just twist it and rip it haha.

Awesome find!

Yea, haven't tested it yet though. I'm gonna head to radio shack tonight to figure out the charger size. Also there is a better battery bank available to match the power supplies output. Case/bag came in and is beautiful! No way it will fit the vape and a battery though. Need to test the smellproofness. I'll report back!

I love my esv, its instant vapor on demand in a stealthy package. Great for when I don't have 30 minutes to session with my Alfa. The Alfa will be going to its first rave tomorrow night and I decided to take it over the esv because of ease of use and stealth factor, but it was not an easy decision. In a rave instant hi temp face punchers from the esv are much more clandestine than a quick session on medium with the Alfa, but esv has many variables that weight heavily on performance. I've said it many times before, you just pick it up and hit it and you get vaked.

So I made that trip to radio shack. Tried all of the dc barrel connectors with no luck. In hindsight there is a drawer with more weird little plugs I should have tried. I wouldn't be surprised if it's proprietary. :( Also returned that power bank because I realized it's 2A rather then 1A.

So specs on the wall wort are 1.2A and 5V. I found a 1A 5V power bank that should work great but I would still have to find/make a cable. Not to keen on cutting the one off my charger. :(

The case I posted a while back worked great today. Not totally smell proof (there is a gap at the end of the zipper) but smell proof enough. Perfect size for a preloaded Alfa, well built, and easy enough to remove that herb pouch and all of the branding.

Good to know on the ESV. :p

After several months with my Alfa I'm still impressed how it taste good and how it produces big vapor§

In the battery powered portable category I never tried, except the Minivap, a so tasty portable, I just picked up a Elevape SV which claims to be full convection and I can't taste my meds as in my Alfa which claims to be conduction!!!! I don't understand how but that's true!

And if you want to milk your bubbler it is present too!

Its the conduction vape to have IMO. I can't help but wonder if the Pax price falling to $200 MSRP is in direct fear of losing their market share to this vape. IMO that is a justified fear. There is nothing the pax does better IMHO other than a cooler charger, and the alfa is in every way a superior designed pax competitor in my mind.

Not sure what you're talking about here, didn't you buy the USB to Alpha cable here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003059FAI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3V6BK4D0HKA8F

Doesn't that plug straight into the Alpha?

No, don't think it will. I canceled my order because something came up. Before reordering i figured it would be best to visit my local radio shack to make sure that that was the ideal plug. None of the DC connectors fit (including that one). :( The inner pin is a odd size.

I had Alfa over 2 months now and at first I was very disappointed with it.
But as I use more and more I now kind of understand how to use this properly..

1.Insert the slight trimmed 'Solo' stem screen with a hole in the middle.
2.Pack down your herb firmly.
3.Use another trimmed "Solo' stem screen with hole to pack down the chamber.
4.Invert the mouthpiece and insert one end of 'MFLB 1.5 black draw whip' for tight fit.(Very stealthy all black, it cools the vapor a lot, and improve the taste dramatically like a little MV)
5.Let the chamber recover after each hit(5~7secs)

Unfortunately I have some bad news to report:

While heating up the light started flashing red (it had been green, not amber while heating up). The flashing red light would not go away even when the dial was turned to off. After a few minutes it stopped flashing red, and no lights would come on no matter what setting it was turned to.

When I put it on the charger, no lights came on. After being on the charger for 5 hours, still no lights. When I took it off the charger and turned it on, still no lights or heat.

After three months of daily use, my Alfa is dead. :rip:

I'll post updates as to how the warranty return process unfolds with gotvape.

Oh that's too funny, I actually bought it because I figured you had measured the connector, and it seems like it works fine! (Fits right in like it was made for it!)

That issue has been determined to be a broken or damaged temperature sensor. The device can't turn on because it might overheat and melt.

I think someone opened theirs after this issue and found that the temperature sensor is a little glass component, so I'm trying to avoid tapping and sharp impacts. Every time I drop it I fear mine is going to end up flashing red...

Not to pick on ya JoeKickass but just gotta ask; How often do you drop your vapes?? I know I suffer from pretty extreme neuropathy and in 6 years of vaping I only dropped a ssvg bat once when it burned the crap outta my lips a couple of years ago.

Yeah, the guy at GotVape said there were two problems with the original ones, a software glitch that made it think it was overheating so the unit won't heat up, and also a heater issue. He didn't specify exactly what the heater issue was.

He also said that both issues had been addressed by Goboof. They had many returns from the original batch (he was actually surprised that mine lasted three months) but since they received the newer units they haven't had return problems. So I thought that was encouraging.

So off it goes this morning. He said as soon as they receive it they will ship out a new one.
