Did they send you a return label to get the original one back to Ireland ?

No... they did not offer to cover shipping. I disassembled my Alfa to troubleshoot and can tell you that there was a tremendous amount of abv crumbs inside. No matter how clean you get the oven or outside, there is still a considerable amount of material inside. The mouthpiece / stainless tube / oven are not one continuous piece. They are three separate components held together with fricton fit couplings. There is no way I would put my name on an International package containing such goods...

Thats a bummer to hear about the Alfa. Thanks for disassembly and info. Im sure a lot of others could find that info useful. I moved on from the Alpha but its still interesting findings.

I would love to see a in depth review of the updated Alfa you have now. How many hits do you get out of it? Is there alot of vapor production on each of the settings? I know you don't have the Flowermate but how do you think they compare? How baked does it one .15 bowl get you? Thank you in advance man! No one has new Youtube videos of for the updated version so I still know so little about it.
I get between 12-16 hits if I flip the contents of the oven. 6-7 very tasty, 6-8 pleasant and the last few let me know it's done. There's a ton of vapor production on medium and both auto settings. I don't use hard at all, and low is nice but doesn't get me "there". Start on medium, 2 hits, switch to AP. Once the flavor gets weaker, turn it off, dump the oven and repack, lighter medicine first. Repeat. Heaven.
A cashed oven produces avb that looks like coffee, super dark brown and pretty much no smell. This thing EXTRACTS. I can put a cashed bowl from my firefly in the Alfa and get another 5-8 nice hits.
Keep in mind I added a ceramic button filter to the mouthpiece that IMO, makes it easier to get quality hits, quicker, thus making the Alfa even more efficient.

I'm pretty bumbed out , I just got my Alfa back from gotvape after they said they were repairing it only to get it back not working properly again. It had a note stating they raised the temps by 45 def each setting. It will heat up and than stop heating randomly during a session. Than I turn it off and on again and it works. Very random. Hoping I can get a refund from them Bc I never got a working unti to begin with.
That sucks man.. I hope you have another vape to use while this is sorted. And I hope you reconsider and let them get a working Alfa in your hands. I got mine from gotvape, I would press them to send you a brand new latest batch unit. :2c:

This too, sucks... I'm knocking on wood for my Alfa, man this is crazy. I hope the replacement unit you get works perfectly, in my opinion this thing produces better taste then Pax, and close to the same amount of hits with half or less of what most people pack the pax with. Doesn't crush the Pax by any means, it just has more check marks in its favor IMO

I got my Alfa from vaporizor.com two weeks ago. It is my second vape with the first being a MFLB knock off, which I could not figure out how to use properly. Alfa is certainly better, but still I have had problems with achieving a desirable effect with it.

Anyhow a week ago after the battery died, it refused to charge anymore. The LED does not lit and the unit appears dead. I have tested with different chargers, but the result is the same. I have contacted Goboof about the matter and they asked me to ship it back. So I did, only to receive it back from the post office as it turned out shipping of li-ion batteries or any battery powered devices is banned out of the country (but not into the country! this is Finland btw). I have contacted Goboof once again for a possible resolution, but haven't heard from them since then. It has been several days already. It will be interesting to see how they will resolve the matter. Until then if you plan to order an Alfa, be sure to first check with your post office on their policy of shipping battery powered devices.

Hey,
Just to help some ppl choosing the alfa. I had problems with my first unit, which got replaced by goboof. As i live in Canada, I had to pay for the shipping. The returned alfa runs like a boss, and no matter how i pack it, i still get nice clouds. The thing is to take SLOW DRAWS. It sucks for ppl having trouble with it, but im 100% happy with it. & this thing almost cleans itself hah

Is that a pack of Marlboros in the background?
My girls, I don't smoke.

@JoeKickass, I almost ended getting a second one, but decided on the elevape. I still favor my Alfa over the elevape because of ease of use and form factor, but this little black box is catching up rapidly. I feel confident in recommending it as an Alfa backup.

gotvape.net is giving me some trouble with getting a refund. They are stating they need to get in touch with Goboof in Ireland 1st and will not refund me bc the item is used now. I never even had the chance to use the item as it arrived broken to my door step. I gave them the chance to fix it and sent it back , played the waiting game and wrote specific instructions of what was wrong with it only to get it back with a note saying they raised the temps by 45 deg which was not the problem i stated that needed to be fixed. My next step is a dispute with the credit card company if i do not get a positive answer back. I do not fell comfortable using this company as they lied to me , also stated it needed a 2nd update the 1st time i called and i was told it had a new update before it was even shipped the 1st time. Hoping gotvape.net does right by a 1st time customer. Please wish me luck bc i feel i put $200 of hard earned money down the drain at this point.

I highly recommend you try a ceramic or glass button filter in your mouthpiece ( in addition to the oven filter). The added resistance let's you take any kind of draw and the result is always clouds clouds clouds. I said yesterday that I get about 15-18 hits from one pack and obviously I get super high with the Alfa and can't remember jack because this morning I actually counted and it's easily 20-25 hits, half of those being tasty and only the last few being less then pleasant.

Yup this thing is so good that I'm almost thinking about buying a backup just in case one of these issues happens to me...

No vape is as effective+stealthy!
Considering a second Alfa myself lol. Even considering selling/trading my firefly. Granted the firefly hits like an anvil and gets you there in less hits (and the flavor is second to none), I prefer the Alfa as it gets you there as well, just more efficiently. 20-25 hits from the Alfa vs 6-8 with the Firefly, from the same amount. Granted I can take a few hits from the firefly then transfer the medicine to the Alfa and get a good 8-12 hits.

I'm really curious about the elevape myself. Thotfukr, you're in DC correct? I am as well maybe we can have a Alfa vs elevape vs firefly vs pax etc sometime lol

Hey guys giving a new update on the status of my Goboof. I got the device back. Just about to try it out. But it looks like a. Brand new device. The model number is way newer. It's a 2000 model as opposed to a 0100 model. Will report back.

I wouldn't put too much interest in the serial number... I went from a faulty #2000 series sn replaced by Goboof by a #800 sn...

Best of luck with your unit!

Thanks for the tips. Starting with medium and going to AP has made all the difference (wow I love this little guy). BTW, Where can I find a ceramic or glass button filter that fits in the alfa's mouthpiece? I tried 2 headshops but no luck. Do you know the size of the filter? I think yours has about 15 holes so if I find one with less holes, would it make a difference? Also, is there a difference between ceramic and glass? Thanks!

Shout out to Ciaran at their customer service. I wanted the $5 screens, but didn't want to pay $20 to get them. I sent them an email a couple of days ago and got this response:

"Hi Mike,

As we ship from Ireland the cost of postage is quite high. The actual cost to us is aprox $23.00. This is due to our payment processing rules with our bank all orders have to be tracked and signed for. We are working on getting these shipped from a warehouse in the US but this might take some time. What I can do for you is send you a pack for free via regular post but this will not be traceable and may take quite a long time. If you send me you full name and address I can get those out to you tomorrow.

Regards
Ciarán "

Update : Sent my Alfa back to gotvape yesterday in hopes that they do the right thing by me and give me a refund or i'll have to fight it with the credit card company. Also contacted Goboof direct in ireland via email and they said they were very sorry for the problems i am experiencing. Also this is a direct qoute from goboof : " we have made some improvements to the heater and the software in recent weeks " , they told me this and offered to send me a new unit direct but i declined at the moment. For all you having problems though i wanted to show you that they have made some updates. I think the machine needs a few of them and i will prob hold off on getting another 1 until all the problems are solved. I am happy there are a few members here with trouble free units. I will keep you all updated as i hear more info.

I don't know if you've ever had to cancel a charge before, but I've never had any issue with it. If you just explain that it's broken, they will probably take your word for it. Be sure to tell them about any warranty goboof offers.

These ceramic screens are on eBay and at all the local smoke shops. I got 5 yesterday. At first, they appeared too small. So I went to 2 different stores and they only had the same size (8-9mm). I went back home and used tweezers to force one close to the top of the mp from the open side. It seemed to work well. But I still don't understand exactly how this addition increases medicine's effect. Also, I tried the MED - LOW - MED and it was very effective.

I got a Goboof Alfa to demo and my initial impressions can be summed up as "this is what the pax strives to be."

The Alfa seems to be a really strong portable vape in my first experiences. I have loaded about 12 bowls, and nothing seems to need to be cleaned. It really feels like the pax to me, just improved in just about every way. The locking oven door is a great idea. The alfa REALLY heats up incredibly fast and uses very little herb. I am usually a convection guy, but this is the least harsh conduction I've hit. I like the feel of the mouthpiece much more than the pax mouthpiece too. Its incredibly easy to use, and there doesn't seem to be a "correct" draw speed. Just sip it or rip it and it seems to produce nice vapor.

I'll keep using it to get more familiar with it long term, but my initial impressions are very nice. This this is truly stealthy and portable too. This would be wonderful for hiking, walking the dog, snowboarding etc.

For things I think they should change, I can only think of one so far, and that would be to include a tamping/emptying tool. If they made a tool with a disc the size of the bowl with a center hole for the heat exchange pin, it would be MUCH easier to get a tight pack. Then on the other side just a thin rod to use to empty the bowl.

I'm actually incredibly impressed and can't believe they made such a nice vaporizer for the $200 price range. IMHO this makes the pax a pointless buy. This costs less and improves on the pax in every way really.

I'll keep using it and updating with my opinion as time goes on, but this is a great little vape and I can't believe it isn't more popular already.

Nicely said. I've had an Alfa since launch, and I love it. I've found unloading to be a breeze...a simple blow while the oven is turned on high, and 9 out of 10 times, my entire load will empty in a nice packed abv puck.

It saddens me to hear about the malfunctioning units/temp sensors of late.

I do wish the door design was different. Instead of a hinged door, I'd like to see a sliding door...ideally it could slide to the left or right, one side to cover the oven, the other to provide access to the remove able battery. Or if hinged door(s) are necessary, maybe make the latch magnetic, similar to the KRAM vaporizer. A fill tool would be nice to avoid material loss. Regardless, the Alfa vaporizer could become incredibly popular so long as Goboof can avoid shipping troubled units and/or replace the current units at no additional cost to the consumer. Given my personal experiences with the Alfa, I'd gladly recommend it to others.

Have called this a "Pax Killer" from the moment I got one months ago. My suggestion is to move the screen from the mouth piece to the top of the chamber, (the company now realizes this and now sells pre holed screens on its web site), that way debris doesn't clog the vapor path.

I find the chamber is the perfect size, and this little stealthy beast gets the most out of your product, and I own a Mighty. I think their temps are pretty high for their 3 setting, with the high topping at 422, which might be part of its secret. With the heated center rod , it needs less stirs as well.

The one I got has the screen located in the bowl, not the mouthpiece.

Just got my replacement mouthpieces, shipped in only a couple of days to the UK. Got a pack of x5 and Ciaran whom I emailed threw in a packet of x5 hole punched screens for me, as I wished to amend my order but they were unable to help me do so.
Great support and i'm still enjoying my Alfa thoroughly. Had it for a few months now and it's still great. Putting an extra screen down on top of the bowl really helps to get the most out of the unit. Also leaving it to sit on Hi for a while helps burn off any extra material and makes cleaning a breeze.

Any tips for removing the screen in the chamber? Always takes me a little bit of fiddling to get it removed for cleaning.
