I got one of the first unit provided by Goobof, mine didn't melt at all and I finish all my load on high setting, I hope and expect this issue will be the last one cause this unit is trully nice.

Although it needs some improvements: the lid could slide and not turn, a screen in the bottom of the bowl, a system to open the vaporpath to clean it quickly, a teflon ring around the bowl and an oil can (and maybe a specific higher T° preset)

I like a lot the stealth led, the sleek design, the smart features, the taste!/clouds ratio and the bowl size

Just curious about cleaning, is the oven hard to clean? Is the vape path easy to clean with pipe cleaner?
i have the Pax, but looking for a portable that is easier to clean. I'm guessing that the unit is hard to load and unload because of the center pin, does the pin make it harder to clean the oven as well?

Loading is slightly harder than with my flowermate but still takes about 10 seconds. Pour material in, tamp into bowl and around center pin, and close the lid. Hasn't been a big deal so far, although I never really pack bowls while I'm walking (I don't need to get anywhere THAT bad lol). If you have 30 seconds to stop then you have enough time to pack the alfa.

It's been easy to clean so far. Same cleaning method as with the pax except no lubricating and no worrying about the mouthpiece working. Pipe cleaners work perfectly to clean the straight airpath (package comes with a few) and then I use a little iso to clean any stickiness in the bowl or on the oven lid.

I've used it about 20 times now and only cleaned it once out of curiosity, not necessity.

Edit: Another thing I've come to notice is that resin will form on the section of the mouthpiece screen that lays right over the airpath, which makes sense. It hasn't restricted the airflow yet but I could see that being an issue possibly if the top screen is never cleaned or changed out. If you have the screen in the oven I imagine you could take out the mouthpiece screen and avoid this issue potentially.

Edit x2: Sticky screen = nom nom reclaim

So I removed the mouthpiece screen after another 5 bowls and it's decently gunked up. Decided to remove it altogether for the next session. Works really well. The herb stays in place because of the oven screen but you avoid the resin buildup that could affect airflow and performance with the mouthpiece screen in. I found I had more control of my hits without the mouthpiece screen in as well. At first I drew too fast but after adapting to the right draw rate I produced better hits than I did with both screens in. I was actually getting some decent vapor on Low when previously all I got was flavor and effects. Gonna try it out this way for a while and see how things go. :science:

I've been playing with the alfa for a couple of days and I'm still not convinced.
I fill the bowl to the rim and tamp it, then I put some cotton on top to
keep it tamped and I only get about 3-4 inhales that show some vapor, first and second puff
show decent vapor. If I don't put the cotton in, I get almost no vapor.
Heatsetting is on hi. I have one of my smallest screens and rolled it up so it could
fit into the vapor path, so there are no pieces under the mp or in the vapor path.
I did the same with the pax to bypass the screen in the oven, gave me even darker abv
and no more dirty vapor path.
The unit gets hot after awhile and the abv looks uniform and nicely roasted.
Effects are also mediocre and a typical session is over (no more vapor) in less than 2 minutes.
Any tips? I really want to like this vape.

Any tips?

Well I can't say for sure whether the issue is user or unit related but, to troubleshoot accordingly, why don't you try it without any cotton or the folded screen in the airpath? It's possible you're restricting the airflow too much. I'd recommend starting out with the one screen in the mouthpiece or, alternatively, just a homemade screen for the oven. If you're still getting the same neutered performance than we know the issue is something else.

How finely ground is your herb? I've been using a normal, medium consistency grind (ala SCS) and have not yet tried the alfa with a finer grind (interested to see what the finishing grinder will do to performance). If you're using a finer grind then try something coarser. I'd also try tearing mini nugs (I think PPN mentioned enjoying this method). I find I get some really tasty hits.

Lastly, I'd do a side-by-side test of your herb in the alfa and one of your other conduction vapes to see how they perform. It won't outperform your solo but the hits are still respectable. I get at least 8-10 big drawfuls from a bowl and usually it's more than that.

Cheers.

My first uses were without any screen except that underneath the mp, this gave me half a bowl worth of
particles behind that screen and no vapor at all.
I tried with bigger pieces, so nothing would go trough the
vapor path this gave me very limited results.
So I inserted the rolled up screen, knowing it gives great results in the pax.
I used fine grind, coarser grind and bigger pieces.
The same amount from the same herb was used in the alfa and in the puffit P2 (wich I recieved together)
And it gives me more vapor in the P2.
I guess I'm comparing too much with solo or other vaporizers when it comes to vapor output.
I did however today saw a few bigger clouds but still after some inhales the vapor output stops
rather abrubtly.
My abv is well done after a few minutes so I know it's working.
I do have different levels of effect with different vaporizers, using same temp ranges and same
amounts of herb.
Maybe some more testing is needed ;)

I don't know what is happening with your unit but it's maybe a defective one... mine is absolutly a no brainer vape since the first session I'm amazed about it!
It can handle with great results the better buds and the worst, grinded or not, extract all the goodies very well (not too fast and not too slow imo) and taste very good for a true conduction vape!

Since I use it most part of the time on the go dry using auto mode I don't really care to the clouds, then I just made a test with my D020 starting at mid for a few draws and go up to high temp for the rest of the session: it milked my bubbler like my Nano, Xp, 05,...for many, many hits (I didn't count them) with a less than 10s of waiting time between hits (I loaded it with a medium quality outdoor flower coarse grinded with a screen in the bottom of the bowl), abv comes out pretty dark brown without any black or green spots.

To be honnest I prefer it, especially about vapor quality, to my Inhalater's except for the really convenient capsules system!

Thanks for the info, I wouldn't think loading is the issue, but maybe getting the spent material out?
BTW, just ordered this (replacing my Pax, 2nd one broke in a year), and also have the Firefly, which I love

Snamuh, do you have an Alfa? Waiting for mine to arrive
No. I recently got an imag+ for 70$ which has been my first electronic vape aside from the mflb.... Its so nice and easy to use. I'm waiting to order an e-nano and then I'm going to be broke for a few years haha. So it will be awhile before I get another portable.

Looks awesome though...

Edit... What kind of airpath does this have? Metal? Glass? Plastic?

I was going to get it on a sale price if available. The GotVape 10% off discount code of VET20 does not apply to this vape per their customer service. On the sidelines waiting now for a deal before I take the plunge, anyone know of any deals ... pls post. Thanks,

I found my problem, I was not loading enough to make it work like the little champ it is.
For my last sessions, I loaded 0.15 grams wich gave me great clouds for a long time.
Before I loaded 0.05 gram max wich gave me mediocre results.
My abv comes out relatively light so I can put it in my solo and have another half session on 7.
I can finally start to love this little vaporizer.

Just curious

I can finally start to love this little vaporizer.

Glad to hear it! I do enjoy packing as much as I can in the bowl for some tasty clouds. I just love the look and feel and functionality of this little guy. It's the best parts of the flowermate mixed with solo traits (effieciency/taste). Looking forward to seeing how it holds up.

Getting the avb out is easy, especially if you do it while the bowl is warm. I open the latch, poke all the avb out, wipe the inner oven lid which usually gets a bit resiny and that's it. Back to back bowls aren't as cumbersome as I initially expected. Only thing holding it back is the battery but I can't expect much more with its size. I can get 2-3 long sessions on a charge, at least so far. I am switching modes often which could be decreasing the charge life.

I think the alfa will make a great replacement for your pax, and a more worthy companion for your firefly.

I'm already looking forward to whatever wong @Ed's TnT can come up with!

Battery: Yeah, that was really the only thing worrying me. 2-3 sessions are nice, but its the 5 hour recharging time that scares me. Basically, after a use you are done for half a day. I guess that fact that you can use it while charging ( hope I'm right here) slightly compensates.

The great thing about the Firefly is that I bought two extra batteries and the charging dock, that way, its never down for the count. Also, the easiest until to clean ever! Not the most portable, but that's why I'm replacing my Pax with the Alfa.

The Pax has been ok, but I feel they really designed this unit better with the smaller bow( the Pax can waste material) and no need for lubricant. Plus, the temp changing dials are on the outside, and not in, where they can get broken ( this happened to both my Pax's)

I found my problem, ...
Before I loaded 0.05 gram max wich gave me mediocre results.

I haven't found any vape with a conduction chamber like this that will work well with tiny loads (one reason I've tried a few few of them) they all seem to need .15-.20 minimum to satisfy me performance wise. But they do fill a need for me when wandering around. Glad this works well for you with .15 at least it's not too much of a giant load.

I really like the size and look of the Alfa but pretty sure it'll be a few months before I can think of trying one out (buying one) but I wanted to ask; How do you all like the A/T and A/P features and do you use them?

The A/P sounds like it would do well for my needs, just wondering how it does for you all.
Thanx.

:peace: ... :leaf:

I use the automatic features everytime on the go, if my bud is low quality (or low thc) I prefer the heating by puff feature, it's 3°c up by puff so after only 10 puffs you are near of the max t°, when I use my better weeds the A/P mode is quickly too hot so I prefer to use the A/T mode which increase the t° of 5°C/mn (so I can take at least 3 hits from each step), when the autoshutoff stop the unit your load is done (and there is nothing to get more from the load, it's done).

This is a bad boy, it'll kick your ass wherever you are!

If you can wait maybe it's better to wait for the next improvements even if it's already a very nice unit!

Untill now I only used A/P once, all the other sessions I go to HI from the beginning.
Both give good results but going to HI gives more vapor throughout the session.
One thing that would be nice is if the lid could go a bit further, so it doesn't fall back
closed so easily while loading.
Also, with my unit, red = dead, it's orange untill the last minute, when the light turns red
it's game over but I charge more often now, so I don't let it go empty.

My Alfa has just arrived, looking forward to a great Friday night!

Question, the booklet with the Alfa gives so little info, like how do I know when the unit is fully charged?

Didn't come with the wood tool? Asking Goboof to send one
