Alfa Vaporizer by goboof

I really like this vape. It is reliable, easy to load/unload and I don't need to download any software to make it more effective. It does not have the same taste profile as a similar sized convection vape, but it cooks the load much more evenly. I can get 3-4 sessions with one chamber. Now to find a 5v portable charging solution. My Anker power block only gives me 12v or 9v via cable.

where are you from @mephisto? The Alfa works with us and european voltage. I think you will only need a plug adapter (like me)

Can anyone comment on how much odor/smell the Alpha produces? Is it quite noticeable? Thanks.

yes smell is noticeable though not like my Inh's, it smell less than lot of conduction vapes imo.

I'm impressed how it is conservative with flowers, after a 20mn session, mid level, abv comes out still green and I got nice clouds from each puff, even at max abv never comes out blackened.

About taste it never give me a baked pop corn taste as my Inh's produce after the first 5-10 tastier hits, though the first hits are maybe a bit tastier with both the Xp and the 05 than with the Alfa.

Cloud production is better with the Inh's but Alfa is a better compromise between taste/clouds, you can milk your bubbler without any doubt with the Alfa even at mid t°!

More I use it more the battery longlife seems increase, it's very near of the 2 hours claimed.

Sure it's a keeper!

A slidding door for the bowl could be a nice improvement to do....

EDIT: I can get a better abv color with a smaller load, I think you get a better extraction with a 0.1-0.15 max load

This little thing is a beast when out on the town.

Day one, I was disappointed since the pull is too deep and hard when paired to my bong orbiter via whip at home. Alfa doesn't fit a 14mm joint, but it could with some creativity.

On day two, I absolutely loved it solo! Usually when out and about, I end up toking since vaping takes so much time and effort. Not Alfa, nice and toasted after one pack. ABV is a nice even brown, although I do open it near the end of session and pack it down again since the herb near door tends stay green. Also, very convenient that you don't need to grind bud, I actually think it prefers little nugs at medium heat. I added a cap to the mouth piece to keep it clean and sealed in my pocket.

That's my two puff take!

Hi All,

First post on the forum...long time lurker though. I recently moved from the Pax to this little unit and have been rather impressed. Could anyone with experience comment on the battery life? My unit seems to be out of juice in less than an hour on low/medium. Charging time is also taking 5 to 6 hours from completely drained battery to full charge...

Please contact the manufacturer if you have not already. They advertize 2 hours of battery life on their site. Because this is so new, it's best to make sure all the bugs are worked out with the maker just in case any manufacturing issues need to be resolved. I believe your problem is the first reported issue, so please let us know how it goes.

I sent an email to the Goboof guys letting them know that my charging time is in excess of 5 hrs and asking whether that is "normal"... no response yet - still waiting to hear back from them. Regarding the relatively short battery life, the only way I can see my unit possibly making it to 2 hours would be if it were set on LOW for the entire time... I'm not sure if my long charge times and short battery life are related... Aside from these power anomolys, this unit is a welcome replacement for my Pax. Will keep the board updated.

I can second the short battery life and long charge times. I'll be sending goboof and email as well.

I would tend to agree with @splitz and @smokey_da_vape. While I really like the Alfa vaporizer, the battery life is overstated and charge time is understated. I too get about 1 hour of use and it takes 4.5 to 5.5 hours for a complete charge.

Edit...but one can use while charging, which is a plus. I would like to see a car charger released.

Seems like I am in good company... Hopefully someone hears back from Goboof addressing said anomalies.

While the run time seems to be on the low end and the charge time on the high one, it all sounds perfectly normal to me. Battery capacities are always overstated.

How many batteries are inside and what is the chemistry used? Also what is your charger output in amps?

All good points...I currently know none of these details.

Charger supplied - output 5v 1200mA

Not certain about battery configuration.

This was probably discussed earlier in the thread but my memories are currently hazy...

5V charger means it has a single (possibly high capacity) battery, probably Li-Ion (and less likely NiMh that only the Firewood seem to be using) In which case 1h of use is really a respectable performance. My Ascent can't hold much more and it has two cells.

5 hours of charge is a lot though and closer to what you get with NiMh's. Seeing the charger can output 1.2A (needed to vape while charging) they must be very conservative on the charge rate or it's a very large capacity cell... or a bit of the two... or I'm wrong and they are really using NiMh or some other funky chemistry!

But I wouldn't bother too much, and if you can and didn't already... get another vape or two, to be able to alternate when you need to charge! :)

She utilizes Lithium Ion as per the huge red CAUTION sticker taking up one side of the shipping carton (t'was "verified" by my local Customs Officer...).

Will update if I hear back from the manufacturer...

I got the Alfa two days ago, I really enjoyed it, enjoyed being the key here....so I put it on the high setting for the first time, not with particularly dry bud....it ignited the bud, the heat from the ignited bud then melted some plastic on the interior, now the oven door won't close and I suppose I'm left with a near worthless vape....I messaged Goboof on facebook just to let them know this is going to be happening with a lot of people I imagine....I can't return it to the store so I guess I'm out of $220 w tax

wow, sorry to hear that, i hope they will give a new unit because a vaporizer is not supposed ignite any herb inside.

Thanks for letting us know, i was about to order this vape, now i think i will wait...
