Stay charged, my friends
Folks a magic flight glass or wooden stem is the best cooling unit around!!! IMO

For a while I was also inserting the bendy end of a straw in there. Also works for sharing. Since I have an autoimmune disease I prefer not to share things mouth to mouth, so a disposable straw works like a charm in a pinch

The definition i am familiar with is the administrative route of putting drugs in your bunghole, to be as polite as possible lol. (Ex: "that guy boofed his molly"). I dont think many people employ this method with their vaporization, though. Especially not "on the go" ;) lol

Mccrinkleberry, its like theres a butt plug on that stem. Jeez, making all these dirty comments, but im not the one who made the name up and designed the butt plug LOL

To avoid my post being deleted or something, im gonna let this be my last "GoBoof" name-related post lol. Im pretty sure its capitalized that way btw. I mean maybe around you guys its not a common term but where i am, everyone knows what it means to "go boof" something (shove x drug in your ass, due to bioavailability increase)

PS i guess its okay considering the site is called FUCKcombustion lol. Thats a strong statement

But aside from my stupid jokes, i do wonder, how is this device compared to say, the Arizer Air? i wanna buy a vape for a friend tbh.

Deciding between tried and true Air (i just dont like that its not the most sturdy unit, and i want something that lasts, on the other hand modern version of Crafty seem like theyd survive a drop off a 1-2 story balcony, if landing on grass) and i was gonna go with either the Flowermate cause i hear its similar for a lower price, this one seems nice too. And i also thought of something like the Grasshopper, though i havent tried any of these except the Air. How do they compare?

I haven't tried the Air but I bought the Alfa based on this video and to this day I'm thoroughly satisfied w/ the purchase. I actually still like it alittle bit more than my Vapcap for most (not all) of my scenarios.

He put the Mighty/Crafy/Firefly 2 on top in the vapor quality department and right after those models he listed the "teir 2 units": Pax 2, Alfa, Arizer Solo/Air, Haze Dual V3, and Vapium Summit which are cheaper than the Mighty/Crafty and not quite as exquisite in terms of vapor quality, but still good devices. And based on all the opinions I've read on the aforementioned "tier 2" units, you can't go wrong with any of them. They have similar (good) vapor quality, so your Alfa vs Air decision comes down more to features than it does to vapor quality. For example if you want more than 3 temp settings, the Air would be better; if you want ultimate stealthiness, the Alfa would be better.

420 Edit- the Ti Woody condenser in the Alfa mp is sweet; it seems to produce slightly denser clouds unless its my imagination.

Just received (yesterday) my Alfa new generation, I'm telling that cause I already own a Alfa from the initial first batch when it came out.... and there is a lot of small differences, new unit is:

- heavier than the old one
- improved housing/body
- no holes in the bowl lid
- mp placement hole is improved/different
- new long "straw style" mp

When it comes to vapour I'm under the impression the new Alfa is running hotter than the old one... I understand better why peoples had issues with the hot vapor... and I'm thinking this is affect slightly the taste...

Although that's a pretty early comment and I'll come back with more thoughts later. But it looks like this vape is still a winner for the price in the stealth/on the go department!

For portability and taste (by a little), I would go with the gaboof. I really love my gaboof (with a glass mouthpiece) a lot. It's small, efficient and is relatively easy to clean. It also has little/no resistance which is my biggest gripe with the Air.
The Air is a little bigger, not as stealth when on the go (if that's important to you). And for many (including myself) the draw resistance is significant. Although cleaning is as easy as it gets.

From the long-term perspective, Arizer has a top notch reputation for standing behind their products. They aren't going anywhere and keep evolving their products. Gaboof seems to be committed to that, but they haven't been around for that long, so it may be more of a "gamble" that they will continue to be around for the long haul.

Hope that helps.

FTR i find Arizer to actually be kinda strict with their warranty stuff. I had to replace an Air once and i kinda had to argue with POTV until they believed it might be faulty (and not my fault), then after a week of debating this with customer service they said to send it in, but immediately sent me a new one after seeing that it was indeed fucked up. The one company i think is the worst (at least in my experience, during that era) is Ploom at least when i had a Pax1, they wouldnt return my messages, it got stuck because of that Ploom lube. And i just wanted them to get it unstuck cause i couldnt. But they answered once saying "if you keep having problems get back to us". I did. No answer. Ever. 10 year warranty. On the other hand Storz and Bickel replace crafty for mighty for like 30 euros or they did. I have to say i love my Firefly2, but i had a slight issue and they never answered either. So. I dont neccesarily trust that these companies will do anything.

However, if a POTV rep contacts them, i guess its more likely (or any reputable vape shop)

Btw firefly would answer if i asked them like a question about when charger will be in stock. When it came to fixing a slightly chipped chasis (even if not covered, im not sure) they simply didnt answer.

Any Alfa owners also have a Divinci IQ? After reading a bit of the IQ and pax 3 threads and seeing things like off-tastes and cleaning hassles mentioned, I just cant be convinced to want one of them over the Alfa with a glass MP. It would be cool to know about differences from owners of both tho.

I just tried my friends Pax 1 for the first time and was not impressed. Had an odd bitterness to it that ive never tasted before. It was near the end of the load but still. I loaded my Vapcap with the same herb to compare, and it tasted right, even at the end of the load.

Since I reviewed the original Alfa when it came out, the new owners of Goboof decided to send me one of the latest Alfa to make a small review about the improvements!

It came a week ago and I used it for severl full recharges.

Here the list of improvements/differences I noticed:

- Bowl's lid is easier to close and no holes in the lid
- redesigned body
-redesigned mp emplacement
-micro-usb charging port but still a jak in the Alfa itself
-more sturdy setting wheel
- medium setting is hotter
- faster charging time ( not a lot though..)
- shorter autoshutoff

Bowl's lid improvement is nice but could be pushed far to a "keep it open" system like somebody posted in this thread.
Micro usb charging feature is nice but you'll still need the proprietary cable since it's still a jak on the Alfa's side.
I appreciate the sturdier wheel!
And the faster charging time.

But the downside now, medium setting (and maybe low setting a bit also) are hotter.. too hot with the short mp!
The Alfa long mp solution is a gimmick, that's a drinking straw placed in the hole of a mp...that's all!
And it looks like the redesigned body is just made to save some building cost...

But for the rest (battery life, heating time, performances, taste and clouds) that's pretty the same nice, tasty, stealth and powerfull unit I liked a lot to go in a concert or even to milk a waterpipe.

At the new 99$ price that's definitly a good contender for on the go vaping, and it's durable, my +2 years old Alfa is still rocking even if the battery life is shorter than before. It was for maybe 18 months in my favourite line up signature and not anymore cause too much good vapes on my desk.... but not all of them are priced so low!

I will post side by side comparsons pics soon...

Thanks for this info. I find my Alfa vapor to be hot, but a drinking straw does not seem like a real fix.
I understand you totally! I put a glass tube from an obscure vape in a Alfa's silicone mouthpiece but it's still slightly hot and it can falls easily.
Cause I forgotten to mentionned the mouthpiece doesn't fit tightly like in the original model.

In my Alfa OG I use a MFLB stem (2.5 inches) or an MFLB whip. Both MFLB products fit tightly.

Hey Guys, i just singed up here to give some feedback. this thread was very usefull to get some good ideas and hints how to get the best out of my alfa.
i bought mine two weeks ago and i am pretty happy with it so far. the battery could last longer... for beeing at home or at a friends for some time its good enough but i think it wont last a whole night of party and stuff which is sad but still better then nothing right?

so my setup:
img_20170608_114734.jpg

Obviously i have the 2nd Gen Alfa.
i also have a test tube (75*12mm) looks way smaller then expected but it fits enough weed for 3-4 loadings for the alfa so more then enough before battery dies. i also have more test tubes that are slightly longer or wider if i need more.
a toothpick for (un)loading the alfa.
i put in a little more than half a load in the alfa and push with the toothpick a second screen on it. like that i dont need to stir or unload and load again. it gets evenly brown in the end. i also can use the cork as a temper if needed or if i am to lazy to use a second screen but in my opinion the heat distribution is more even with the second screen + its cleaner because no weed on the bottom cap of the alfa.

as a mouthpiece i use the MP form an arizer extreme tower (https://verdampftnochmal.de/products/de/Glas-Mundstueck) it fits perfectly on the upsidedown alfa MP in which i made a small hole at the tip so i can push it completely in and there is airflow nevertheless!
the MP i use has a nice length its not as long as the MFLB. for me it could be even a little bit shorter but like this its pretty nice, no hot mouth at all. you can inhale as fast or slow as you like.

as "protection" i use an ISY camera bag. (https://www.amazon.de/ISY-IPB-1000-Tasche-für-Digitalkamera/dp/B00H3R91D0) it has a good size to stuff in all you see on the table. its made out of neoprene which i actually prefer over hardcase because i am not worried it gets crushed but i want something clean and slightly shock-resistant. i dont need something odor resistent because the smell is not so bad anyways.

nevertheless i have some questions:
- do you guys know how much the temperature raises with every puff in A/P? and do you know what is considered a "puff"? sometimes i feel like the temperature might be slightly higher then i do several puffs with one lungfilling but i feel like this is not working... therefore most of the time is start with medium and finish with high and dont use any of the auto-modes...
- do you guys know after what time it the auto turn off sets in with the new model? i know the old one was 10 min but mine sometimes just turns itself of after maybe 5? its a little annoying but i feel like this is not a defect but actually the new setting...
-do one of you guys harvest the oil while cleaning?? how do you do it? with my tower its easy. i just put everything in a bowl with isoprop and then get rid of the isoprop later but with the alfa yesterday i used a lot of q-tips and cotton wool. would you put in the cotton wool of the q-tips also in a bowl with isoprop and stir it and then remove cotton wool or how do you get the stuff out of it there? is it worth the effort?

@Vapor-licious Glad you got so much inspiration from this thread, as have I.
I think your set up is great. I really like the looks of your MP, although it is probably a bit short for me.
I personally use the outer part of the Davinci Ascent MP with the Alfa MP upside down and am very happy with it.
I have the original Alfa, so cannot help with timing.

So yesterday evening I plugged in my Alfa to charge it. 5 hours later the light was still red. Left it plugged in overnight. This morning 12 hours later, it was STILL solid red. Has that ever happened to anyone? I havent had a chance to use it again yet and see if it croaked.

EDIT - It DOES work. That's really bizarre; it charged for literally 12.5 hours with a red light. WTH? Is this a sign that my Alfa is about to kick the bucket?

ive had it for exactly 1 year, still blows nice clouds, still love it. cant bring myself to want any other vape except the vapcap, which is better for microdosing. but really the alfa is nearly as efficient. it has become my weekend vape.
I found a random brass piece-o-something at work and it got my wheels turning as it just happens to fit in the alfa mp perfectly (yes, i sterilized it first). anyone know what that thing is from? goboof should have done something like this!

My alfa did the same red light thing when I first got it two years ago. Didn't last long, and didn't seem to affect anything, just stopped song it after some use...

Another part of the 'issue' with mine was the red LED would stay on once the unit was turned off after use...
