I think it's worth the effort; I've always defatted my BHO. If I were unable to find a clean alternative, I would probably distill. To each their own.
It really isn't hard to setup, you need a gallon jug, hosing, a 16 fl. oz bottle, ice, a drill, a stove and two large pots. Drill a hole a 1/8" smaller than the diameter of your hosing in the cap of the gallon jug and run it to an identical sized hole in the cap of the 16 fl oz bottle, screw the caps on. Take the smaller pot, fill it with ice and bury the 16 fl. oz bottle. Now, put your 151 proof into the milk jug and place it in your larger pot, fill the pot up with water and heat to 175 deg. F. The ethanol will boil off, then cool and condense in your 16 fl. oz bottle, leaving the water behind in the gallon jug.
After doing a bit of digging, I read instances where people in CA had 190 proof shipped in. IDK if that is possible in WA, though.
