5 year Pax owner, first time getting a desktop vape. Wondering if I'm going the right direction.

As the title states I've been a PAX user for the past 5 years. I had a 3 that was replaced with the Plus when the battery started acting up. It has provided me with on the go dry herb and concentrate without blasting my face off. Currently my Pax is set up so it goes into a bubbler and has a silicone whip with a glass mouth piece.

Now that I am in the space for it, I want my desktop vape to be able to allow me to have more sipping seshes than going full blast. I'm not trying to get anything too adventurous like a wireless ball vape or anything of that sort. This doesn't mean that I won't do a phat dab once in a blue moon though hah.

From my research I seem to keep landing on a Ditanium or a Vapor Brothers box. I was wondering if anyone owns/has tried both and could give me any information on them.

It might feel intimidating, and seem extra adventurous, but I don't actually think it is now that I have cloud connoisseur epitome wireless setup myself... Pretty simple all in one, very effective, small footprint... Pretty much plug and play. The old style of desktop vapes have largely fallen out of favor especially here with the enthusiast community, and it's not just about power... Otherwise check out log vapes in general

I agree that log vapes make pretty awesome desktop vapes and they're great for sipping. They're also in general less expensive than a Ditanium or VaporBrothers unit. (although I've read good things about both of these). Some names to look for in log vapes would be Underdog, E-NanoXL, Couchlog, Woodscents.

If a nice, long, tasty sipping session is what you're after in a desktop then I'll do you one better and recommend a halogen log vape. Halogen vapes are known for preserving taste over a nice long session. The Vapor Halogen Wand, MuSA and Highlighter are names that come to mind.

Thank you everyone one who has replied! I really do appreciate the help. I am glad I posted because I am learning about so many types of units.

I am going to do more research on the suggestions and come back with what I end up doing!

Hey @bornslyasafox I don't have any experience with those vapes

For others that want to help, they do say they want sipping sessions. If that is important to you @bornslyasafox?
Very much so, I get about 6 mins or so with my Pax. If I was able to get more time and flavor with my session that would be awesome.

I think you're on a good track, I love my desktop vape & use it 99% of the time. I recommend avoiding specific vape suggestions & instead look to focusing on all the details of how you want to vape. Then see what vapes best suit your want list & setup desires. A bottom up approach rather than top down, so to speak. This type of assessment will help inform many things, like if a burn / fire hazard vape is a big issue or not, etc. Other questions include how important is - ease of cleaning, the size of the supporting accessory ecosystem, the ability to dab too, clean airpath (e.g., glass), extraction (powerful heater), efficiency (even heating of the material), durability, individual vs group use, etc.

Fwiw, I was highly interested in the Ditanium vape (it's a great option) but ended up moving away from it because I didn't want to use a whip & have do deal with keeping it clean or pay for regular replacement. Ymmv. I went with a glass airpath instead.

Good luck with search & choice. Lots of great options out there & something is available to dial into your wants / preferences.

In terms of sipping imho there’s nothing better than a Plenty. I have 2 setups, a coil mouthpiece with the reduced bowl, for sipping minutes, and one with the regular 1,5 gr bowl for sipping hours.
A Volcano bag is also a great choice for sippers and the flavor imho is great from start to finish. There’s no popcorn taste at the end of the session.
Growing older I’m starting to reevaluate my choices. I liked a lot hard hitters in the past but I find sipping gets me higher for longer.

Enano XL can do big instant hits that can compete with ball vapes IMO.

Hello everyone!

I wanted to thank everyone again who shared their thoughts and opinions to my query! I learned a lot of new things about the world of vaping. Almost feels like I was living in the stone ages with my Pax devices lol. I want to also mention how much I appreciate the civility and well thought out responses. I've seen similar questions posted on another forum site and it seems like the responses would always seem to turn into what I call the "iPhone v Android" arguments.

Anyway, after some more thought I decided to go with the Ditanium. The main reasons being that its simple in design, looks sturdy, and has a whip system - specifically a titanium mouth piece that fits into 14mm bowls. I plan on having the whip go into a tabletop bubbler that would would have another whip for vapor consumption. I have a puppy and two cats who can lovingly interrupt my sessions. My thought process is that should any shenanigans take place during a sesh, I can quickly remove the whips and handle the situation. I should mentioned this in my OG post and reply. Lastly 270 bones feels like a good price point for me.

I will be interested to see and play around with it to see how long of a session I will get out of it. I thought about a log vape but am going to save up and get that next (that or an Angus) haha. Thank you again for all those who helped! Oh, before I forget, should I post its review on thus thread or should I start a new one?
