Hi there. Sounds like you have the right idea in using ISO and qtips to clean the glass. The charred bottom should not cause any problem but you can replace it. If still clicking fine, you should not need to clean under the wooden disc. You should have a couple of spare discs but if lost, a...
Yes, it should be the other way around. Isn't the rubber burnt?
Adding a spacer turns down the power as less metal in the heating zone. Changes the heating profile.
EDIT: Also, the previous method for heat shield was ba dense hard high heat rubber, so you might have a unit in that era. :hmm:
Hobby King must have just run out again as they had stock a week or so ago. You can add yourself to the notification list when they get stock again. Also, you do not have to worry about the load plug type as the HS just uses the 4-pin charging plug with the 2-pin left hanging. This should make...
Hi all. Black Friday is coming. The $100 Brutes will be starting next week until the end of the month. Just give me a shout next week to snag the deal. :)
Hi there. If it was used for long without the heat shield in place, the switch will have melted. If damaged to the point the switch no longer clicks, the mechanism will need to be replaced. Please reach out via PM.
Additional spacers should go under the original setup.
From my FAQ:
What is the packet of discs that comes with the unit?
The wooden disc is the “heatshield” which can double as a spacer and the heat-resistant rubber cushion is a “friction pad” which is attached to the underside of the...
Hey guy's, it's that time of year again. The $100 Brutes are back on sale until the month's end!
Please shoot me a PM if interested. 😊
@Seantagon, the lights change colour based on time and simply rotate through. Some do use them for timing. 👍
Here you go. 😁

Nice @Duba! I made a couple of mods myself.
First I made a skirt because the heatsink under it gets quite hot.
And I made a new upper wooden heat shield to remove the top and store the TA. I can just put it on and stuff it into my pocket. :D
:science:
We shall see how things go but I know the Anvil doesn't have enough iron in it to work well at all with IH. Never played with a Dani. The TA has more going for it now that we know the heating media can be changed out. Down the road, I think we may be asking how many and how big SS balls you use...
This is a very clever way to hold the heat. Have you tried to add a few SS beads into the mix? In theory, you could add a ratio that would take the heat-up time down considerably as well as mix the heat source more evenly into the beads. They come in many diameters to boot. Link. Not sure about...
