I lightly hit the bottom with a butane lighter to melt the oil, then I ran a scalpel blade around the edges to scrape it out. I eventually got enough out that the insert slid right out while heating.
Someone dropped a dab between the Ti and the sapphire insert. It got all around the sides and bottom and now it's stuck in there a bit. I'm soaking it in Dark Crystal right now, so we'll see how easy it is to get out.
Dark Crystal is a little pricey, but you do just soak without risk of it getting tossed around the washing machine. 30 minutes cleans the baked on reclaim off of my glass and quartz.
OTOH I don't have a dishwasher, so I might not be remembering their power correctly.
I dropped my heater. Luckily it was super hot. The best part was that it landed on my bare chest. I'm just crossing my fingers that I didn't brand a big hole in my tattoo.
I cheat and only use my enail at my desk, so size is manageable. My desk is also height adjustable, so I account for piece height by raising or lowering the desk. Your piece has me drooling for mine now.
I just cracked my sapphire halo. Shit. At least it's not my primary dab surface. I should have switched to quartz for safety. It's only cracked on one side for now, so I guess it'll dab in a pinch.
This inspired me to pull the trigger on a Swiss donut rig from @Coojoglass. I went for Portland Grey and Slyme accents with a matching drop down and bubble cap. I'm excited to see what he comes up with in a few weeks.
I think the Sublimator's heated bowl and thermal equilibrium give it a very interesting profile. I don't know if the narrowed aperture creates a low pressure zone like the marketing materials say, but it is a massive single hit extraction that is very smooth. I even like it without water. It...
