But when you know your preferred settings you can turn it up for the 1st minute or 2 and turn it down again before you use it, with memory presets or via the control buttons or a knob (depending on which buck boost thingy you choose), to speed things up...

I think the general consensus is that they're unlikely to be safe for our purposes as they weren't designed with inhalation or clean airpaths in mind...
I haven't tested this but always thought you could probably return a coil to somewhere near it's original shape with a strap wrench (or 2) around the outside, and a length of 16 or 20mm rod, pipe or dowel for the inside of the coil
