I like the sound of the new smaller unit, although the little cube one is very cute! I do have one concern though, as attractive as it is, seeing that glass element sticking up makes me concerned about breakage. Will the portable version have the element recessed for protection?

How did you figure that out? The smaller size is a huge step forward in the log vape world. Smaller is easier to handle (especially with glassware), and it is also more efficient. A lot of energy is wasted keeping a big lump of wood warm.

That's a new one to me. I would have thought that a resistor would be an easy load for a switchmode power supply. I'm no EE either, but I've got a friend who is, so I'll have to ask him about it.
