The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

I was very lucky and privileged to be given an early test unit. But I was already posting constantly in the thread from day one, so nothing has changed for me apart from my posts are now more knowledgeable of the device. But it's no bother for me answering questions. I love talking about vapes...

Initial IH heat up for me is around 35-40. 40 if I want to really push for a very dark roast. Are you asking how long the bowl would retain residual heat? Hard to say. It doesn't bleed loads of heat into the magnet as it has minimal contact area at the end of the tip. However it will radiate...

I would have to experiment. It feels to me combustion would be possible, but using some crazy massive flame not typically found in butane torches. Maybe when aiming lower on tip for conduction It changes the dynamics. When aiming torch at the midsection it gives strong impression of being able...

So I don't work for MadHeaters. I just have been using a test unit. There will be pre-orders. We have reason to believe there will be enough for everyone in that initial preorder batch. But I wouldn't wait around too long if you are sure you want one. When I say "we" I'm refering to us...

You can sign up for release notification on the MadHeaters website. We don't have a final ETA yet. But it's at the point where it's just needing final finishing calibration touches. Could be a December release if all goes to plan. I wrote a review on page 24. Usage videos on page 25. We have...

If you have the airflow setting at anything but closed, you can also feather the carb to modulate the hits. Pic doesn't look clear, but if you click on it, Imgur will open up and you will see it much clearer and will be able to read it.

Not really. Because you will know where you like it for what you are doing. So you will stop heating when you got that exact mark. So when you have a strain that needs a bit more heat, or using hash, or even just wanting RTL hit, you still have this exact control. It's always representative of...

For me I have always disliked audible clickers. Because they are arbitrary. Nothing I have disliked more in the vape world than being told to "go past the click when using this way or that way", or hearing the click on an Anvil but still combust because my torch length was too big and aimed too...

Nice. All this talk of WPA's just made me realize I have a BB3 Dynavap stem in my drawer. I'll try all glass j-hook set up tonight. It's not ideal as bb3 is a 10mm WPA, so airflow will be affected some. But should still be interesting. If it helps I had crazy high expectations of Tempest, but...

Native is king. Top notch experience. I would be interested in a minimalist WPA tip though. Just to stick on a j-hook and leave it there. I would still mostly use the native one most though.

Phattpiggie uses Rayon. Not sure which is better. I just picked what I could find on Amazon

Just straight hash. I don't like to sandwich hash as flower fully extracts faster. Tempest works great with vape cotton. Airflow still feels great. I always found the airflow in TM2 suffered a lot with vape cotton and expected the same here. So a pleasant surprise.

Ahh of course 😁 I suppose I did take one for the team in that regard! I think it's a good idea. You will have a better idea to the Tempest's strengths when it arrives. Reminds me of comparative tasting sessions for tea, or wine. Sometimes you compare two things that ostensibly are not in the...

That's kind. But I don't think I have took one for the team in any regard so to speak. I see it as a privilege to test such a highly sought after vape early. Good idea to test your Dynavaps in preparation. I have a feeling you might find any comparisons moot to be honest. My first insight with...

Accurate insight. Hadn't thought of that. The clouds to vape size ratio on this one is bordering on absurdity.

You should experiment with IH times when using outside in winter. As device will have a lower unheated temp. I would suggest finding your IH time sweet spot indoors, then look where your visual indicator is at. Then you have that reference point when using outdoors.

Does changing the Wand temp just change the time out timer? I'm still using my watch to time it :D
