Update: The unit kept on getting hotter and hotter without me being able to do anything to stop it and it started to smell very strongly, so I finally took out the battery, being afraid the unit might melt. I think there might be some fuckup in the circuit board......

Seems there is quite a different result in battery life between when the unit is left on constantly (until the 'charge' light starts blinking) or turned off and completely cooled between sessions. Might that be because the heating element keeps warm for a long time, (also after turned off...
