Thanks for your reply! That's exactly what I was thinking! It might work like that but there always is the danger of it falling out of the unit some way, it just doesn't seem very safe. I will contact the shop I bought it from, it was from Azarius in Holland, they are the same as Vaposhop.

I surely will let you know Dreamerr, I am pretty curious myself to know what caused it. I am going to ask if they keep track of it, I had it well documented with pics, also the serial number, so they will be able to trace it. BTW I had a couple of the new ones and all have the same problem...

Some time ago I got some spare standard stems from Vaposhop in Holland, in case I would break my old one. Today however I found that the new ones are quite loose in the unit, the old one was fitting much tighter. I like the tight one and I am afraid the loose one might just not work properly...

Those small holes weren't visible in my M107 but now I have the M1A I can see 4 small holes in the bottom of the heating element. So the older model has a mesh on the bottom of the heating element and the M1A is completely closed to leave those 4 air holes visible.
