Definitely try this.... Its kind of like rinsing the fuel tank with clean solvent. When I do this, I wear a glove, or cover my hand with my sleeve (the butane is very cold when it comes out)

^^^^ Its probably just not very high quality butane. But as I mentioned before, I purposely use low quality butane just to make sure that it does not clog the Hammer. And as OO pointed out... since the flame is completely separate from your airpath, you won't inhale any impurities anyway...
