I think it goes without saying, but any problems discussed here are not intended to discount or discredit the beloved PD, nor the hard work and care put into making them. Just the nature of the forum. I think even the small number of people who've experienced issues are just as grateful to have...

You'll have to forgive us for being novices in electronics :mental: but it sounds like nu2vape only had his 1 night and the same for myself only a day or so, mine definitely without any distress to the cords. I will await your professional conclusion as to the problem with mine.

Im in the same boat but with the car adapter. Exhausted myself trying to troubleshoot. :bang: Cord works fine, fuse is fine, PD dosen't heat up! :bang: Sending back, and I too will be waterpiping it (with VB attachment) in the mean time.

Hmmm, I've read studies from hightimes that said your lungs are at saturated capacity after 10 seconds. I wonder how that applies to vapor. I hate to think im wasting but i love bit hits.

From what Lwein described he was experiencing the same thing as me, dark uneven heat spots. Be interesting to find out. :o I just finished doing thorough testing with my car adapter brining it directly heated from my house to the car for 30 min and it was barely hot enough to vaporize with...

To answer your question per Tom's email to me he does not believe there is a burn in period, but this was my experience.

After several days of my PD being on 24/7, the heat issue has gone away. It went from almost scorching the herb (not the crossbar, this when the herb is tamped below the rim) in the first 24-48 hours to now a nice dark honey color even when drawing quickly. I can't say why but the excessive heat...

I told Tom last night that I took my PD in the car for the first time last night and it seemed to work great and didn't have any of the heat related issues. When I was on the way home though, (after 2 hours of PD cooling down) it didn't get hot enough to even vape after 30 min on the road so...

That is my thought too. If it's supposed to run that way I will compromise and hope for an improvement in the future. I'm really hoping that ours are just anomolies like Tom said and that we will be in PD bliss like everyone else very soon.

Lwien, is the problem your having something inside the PD itself or is it the power cord? I've tried every combination of packing density and draw strength and get the same result every time after a single draw: Half darker brown than I would ever vaporize to, the other half almost green.

Uhh. I don't know how small your hands are but mine are medium at biggest and unless I hold it precisely with 3 fingers and a thumb my hand touches the metal every time I pick it up.

The plastic melting analogy may not be the best gauge. Skin melts at a far lower temperature than plastic. 3rd degree burns occur at still a lower temp, and painful burns at still a lower temp. The intensity of heat we are speaking of is enough to cause an led light to fail as Tom said. Aside...

    Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

Mine does and I just emailed Tom to advise that I think I may have the same problem as Lwein with the heat as it's definitely overheating the herb in one spot prior to extracting the vapor from the rest of the bowl.

I'm referring specifically to the exposed metal around the powercord, on the jack, not the wooden part.

If you read my post it dosent say anywhere that I'm not satisfied. And in defense of Tom and the obvious popularity of his product I'm sure he dosen't feel threatned by suggestions for improvement. Afterall thats how the PD came about. ;) As soon as you begin precluding things for redesign you...
