@ClearBlueLou We used infra red hand held laser thermometers to gauge temperatures yes. flame size is not as important as how long you heat with the size flame you have. (measuring now) I would say the flame is right at 2" with the whippet torches we recommend. (they are adjusted to max) I...

no, you would have to have cool your Slug.33 to the same/ambient temps. before beginning a new press. You can do this with ice water bath. Its not the most ideal, but then again they were never designed for rapid repeat use. We are working on that now with our 1/2oz unit. It will have a...

Gentlemen please, if I may, one does not simply acquire a Slug.33 because it is electric, they acquire it because it is not. ~Wise Man

make sure you are compressing all the way, until you bottom out. When you see the forge back off a little towards the end, continue slowly, and finish tight. This is when the magic happens a lot of the times.

yes, they do come covered in grease!....I simply soak mine in a hot soapy bath, scrub with brush then dry. I then use a little olive oil on the moving parts when dry. I only spend 5 - 10 minutes cleaning it.

True, I was told by a customer the Wen's finish was shitty. They looks the same I like the grey color as well. You can also get Witlon's on the cheap. On their site they have links to discount stores that carry them.

1 1/4" x2 Get yourself a vise that has wide plates (jaws) that way you wont need a separate backing plate. This is what's nice about the Wilton vise's. You want Jaws that are 1 1/2" wide.

no rosin= not enough heat. Heat longer, you can always subtract heat later. Make sure you compress very slowly at the end. It could also be the flower, some flower just doesn't yield. Sorry to hear about your fails.

You should know....you own one! lol.... The name Slug came from the look of the damn thing, kinda looks like a shotgun Slug! The .33 came from the 30% yields we were getting during testing. 30% in decimal form is .3 There ya have it.

Bigger is HARDER!.... all kinds of challenges when size comes into play, everything is amplified. Our goal, as with the LIMAX is to create a Slug.33 that can be used continuously. This Fall is our goal. We would like to be ready for the Emerald Cup this December.

BLOWOUTS 1. not heating long enough for the flower to soften so it can be compressed into the area. 2. Compressing TO FAST. once you are done heating, finish VERY SLOWLY. Hope this helps.

Bring the heat! You may need to double it. Hopefully you will be able to feel the flower soften as you heat and that should give you some idea.
