I've not used my EVO since getting crafty, the charger supplies 10watts and the heater needs 27watts. It will always use the battery, however it seems to heat up faster when plugged in saving the battery a bit. Discharging ~30% should give ~2000 cycles vs discharging %100 giving ~400 cycles...

Extreme Q mini whip works great right out of the box to use 18mm pieces, the airflow is better than the evo I find, on par with the og ticker. It's easily my favorite vape ever, desktop or portable.
