    AVB question

Another option (and this is what I actually do) is the exact same thing you did, except put the oil+herb inside a sealed mason jar, sitting in the water bath inside the slow cooker. This accomplishes the exact same goal in terms of controlling the temperature, but with the advantage that the oil...

    AVB question

The easier method would have been to put the ABV in your mouth and swallow it. :)

I usually follow these instructions: http://forum.grasscity.com/incredible-edible-herb/742831-badkats-cannapharm-medical-grade-oil-cannabis-capsules-uv-glowing-hash-candy-canna-bombs-more.html

    abv butter

1 gram of herb, for my tolerance, would make anywhere between 1-10 edible doses. I'd recommend to start on the cautious side. :)

    edibles questions

Great advice above, I'll emphasize that it is much better to eat too little and then vape to put yourself over the top, than it is to eat way too much!

    abv butter

I make edibles with as little as 1g. It does not need to be a big financial investment. :)

The zero-sugar option is just to fill some capsules (see my avatar).

    abv butter

"Trichomes" is the name for those THC crystal glands. Frankly I doubt dark brown ABV has many intact trichomes. For green bud with intact trichomes, it might be a bigger concern. I personally avoid the water method these days. In the past when I used this method I always discarded the water.

I prefer the solo. Tried both.

    abv butter

A double boiler accomplishes the same thing as your water method: control the temperature so you don't burn the material and ruin the batch. Both methods have their pros and I am not necessarily saying my way is better. I have however noticed that THC crystals sink (not float) in water. By the...

    abv butter

Next time try it without the water, just herb and butter/oil in a double boiler. :) Chocolate pairs well with ABV flavor in my kitchen, my edibles are not merely tolerable but actually delicious. But if you are after strong THC effect then try using green herb not ABV.

    Straining methods

Try pre-saturating your cheesecloth with virgin oil, this ought to stop it from absorbing canna-oil. :)

What's the issue with too much ABV in caps/food?

I believe you, if you're saying that was your personal experience. Scientifically, that doesn't make any sense to me that our brains have separate tolerances for smoked THC vs vaped THC vs eaten THC. ;)

What's the issue with too much ABV in caps/food?

Tolerance is when you increase your dosage of a drug, then next time, you need more of that drug to feel the same effect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drug_tolerance Edibles are a fantastic way to increase your MJ tolerance (if that is your goal).

If I said 0.01 it was a typo, apologies.

What's the issue with too much ABV in caps/food?

0.5g of ABV is not a "super low" dose in my opinion. I think I mentioned above my "standard unit" for edibles is 0.05g. Good luck and let us know how it goes! :)

What's the issue with too much ABV in caps/food?

I've actually never made ABV caps, sorry. When I make coconut oil canna-caps, I use NBV (non-vaped or green herb) and usually put 50mg per capsule (so 20 capsules per gram). This is a pleasantly weak everyday dose for me, and I usually take several over the course of a day. I use the '00' sized...

What's the issue with too much ABV in caps/food?

I don't think you understand what I am saying... I am saying that you should weigh the amount of material you are using to calculate your dosage. If you make your caps with twice as much material then they will be twice as strong. Eyeballing the dose for edibles is seldom a good idea, trust me! ;)

What's the issue with too much ABV in caps/food?

ExtremeLou, it totally depends how strong the caps are! You could make a cap that is much too strong, or much too weak, or just right. :)
