Progression towards the Dark Side or How does your ABV rank?

Nice work. FWIW: the colour and popcorn smell of ABV probably has something to do with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maillard_reaction - summarises what cooks have figured out over the last 5000 years or so happens to tastes and colours when you heat complex organic mixtures like bread dough -...

If (not suggesting Arizer is the case here) a manufacturer asked a sales department, they'd probably end up telling the engineers to push and pull hard on the battery to maximise the 'hours continuous use' on the box staying well within cell manufacturer's specs of course because otherwise...

Well, the overcharge protection stops overcharge for sure, but there's been lots of discussion here with smarter people than me pointing to evidence that for the longest battery life with reasonable sessions it's wise to rarely push the battery into the top and bottom 10% charge bands (ie 0-10%...

Fear not. Nothing lasts forever. Think of it as participating in a big experiment :) If the battery claps out seriously within the 12 month warranty period, I'm sure they'll replace it. If later so much the better and you can still replace it with a new standard battery if you're handy with a...

I just ran some experiments. For the record: With a 4 week old Massdrop Solo, plugging in a PA will start it charging just like it would if you plug in the regular stock PS. If I set the temperature it will start heating, and the green charging light STOPS flashing. I wouldn't describe that as...

Sorry to hear of your bad experience. OTOH: I got a new one in the October solo drop with zero drama and I'd have no hesitation in using them again. Delivered to Melbourne, Australia about 3 weeks after the drop closed. Slower than egay but cheaper for me. I guess sh*t happens sometimes, but I...

That's reassuring - if it still holds a charge and heats up, it should be quite capable of extracting vapour....

Reason I feel vaping can effect lungs just as much as smoking

IMHO: it's all a question of minimising your exposure to risks while getting the good stuff out of your herb and into your head. Vaping probably won't turn out to be completley harmless - nothing that's so much fun ever is - but my guess is that it will certainly turn out to be less harmful...

YMMV but here's my AU$0.02: Never heard reliable reports of "fake" solos. At about US$145 via Massdrop to Sydney, they're probably not expensive enough to knock off. AFAIK, Arizer are widely regarded as being unusually reliable in honouring their warranty. Incidentally, if the oven heats up...

I just added solo #3 to my collection via Massdrop - a newer model with much less restricted airflow than the current 1.5 and near 2 year old members. I might be about a year behind everyone but at least I can now confirm what I think was observed a few hundred pages back when the "improved"...

In the previous Solo massdrop, mine took a little under 4 weeks - from the close of that drop on October 25 to arrival in Melbourne on November 20th. My previous 2 (!) were from a reputable ebay dealer - they cost more but arrived within a week of ordering. YMMV

Yes - but I think I get quicker and more complete conservation by adding some conductive heat transfer from the surface of the oven) to the convection of a dry hit in the stem. Absolutely agree it's an option and probably less rancid - suited for less desperate circumstances perhaps :) This is...

Of course - but desperates like me who need to reclaim the precious good stuff that process burns off weep at the thought and look forward to the day good herb is so readily available that we can afford to be equally cavalier.... :)

Read on for today's Solo "bush remedy" - quick and dirty reclaim from clogged screens for the desperate (please ignore if someone has already posted this tip but I couldn't find it by searching) Executive Summary: Where I live, reliable raw material is expensive and hard to come by. Screens are...

I have two Solos and they consistently differ (I think) - one seems (subjective!) hotter by about two levels and that's when I compare them using the same source vegetable material - so not sure there's one universal correct answer to your question? Browning is definitely variable according to...

The best way to find out is to try it - a lot of the fun for us recreational users (IMHO) is trying different variations of packing and temperature to work out what you like best - not even the very smart folk on this forum can tell you that !

Stock stems seem to work fine for many people (like me). AFAIK the one "accessory" (ie not in the box) that really makes a huge difference is the quality of the plant material you're vaping. Once you get that right, I'd say the next "accessory" you need is a willingness to experiment with...

Agreed - but I own two solos and they differ by about 2 temperature levels - I've used the same bud in both - it seems optimal to my tastes at 2-3 on one but works best at 4-5 on the other. Like OF, I don't think it's anything to do with the battery. More likely something to do with the...

You would probably get more eyeballs by posting to the portable devices/solo forum, but FWIW: Removing the battery effectively resets the device so a reset won't make any difference. If you have a voltmeter, measure the wall wart output voltage - those little switching power supplies sometimes...

Yes, gravity sucks. Mine is mostly used upside down. You get used to the balance and the herb stays put - especially with a proper fit hi-temp O ring to stop any stem wobble.
