I'm curious as to their preferred methods?

I'm wondering if you'd be better off with some fine 100-200 stainless steel mesh like the ecig users use for wicking genesis atomisers. They go a lot finer but I think it will just get clogged up and you'll struggle to get a decent draw with anything over 200.

Did you charge on a separate charger? I had that issue with two sets of pre charged batteries. After running out of other ideas, I connected up the power supply that Pipes sent and it all started working after that, with or without the psu is connected.
