I've never once charged it with the Core still attached. Always battery alone. Charger light is green when no battery attached, turns red when low battery is attached and turns green again when charged. Pretty standard for this type charger. Kinda thought maybe the extra white lights you have...

If you look at the contact points of the battery and core they are really tiny and any misalignment and the MV will act wacky. I know it's new, but maybe try cleaning those contact points.

Where is it in the sequence of choices? After red? When you twist the two together (core and battery) do you feel it click into place?

I have the adapter. It flopped around with my larger sized J-Hook attached since it is inserted into the nipple of the Flexicone. Does it work with a J-Hook? Yes, but better with WPA stuff.
