I've got to admit, me too (only because the money had already been spent!) Of course, a vortex is not the only purpose of a recycler, and many recyclers do not vortex. But my understanding is that if such things matter to you, it's important that the water comes in to the top half of the vortex...

I'd seen video of this piece in the past, and I have to agree. I've never understood recyclers designed like this one, where the water is drawn in beneath the upper chamber. Why create what looks like a vortex chamber where the water bypasses it altogether?

I just measured and the piece is 6.5" at the very top of the mouthpiece. The can itself rings in under 3". Here's a pic with some vapes and other glass for comparison. That's the D020 on the left, my 6" recycler on the right, the little Toro knockoff in the middle.

This one used to be about $42, shipping included, but they recently bumped up the price. I was debating about buying one at $42, but have decided to pass at $52. That's definitely pushing the limit of what I feel comfortable paying for Chinese glass.

I'm a big fan of the Lotus (and the Firefly, for that matter). The Lotus is interesting in that you can really tailor your session since you're controlling the heat source. I have bowls that I sip from, that last for a good 10 minutes at least. Other times (if I'm in a hurry), I'll finish a bowl...

Question for others: how much pressure do you have to apply to the battery to get the unit heating? My MFLB requires little to no pressure at all once the battery engaged. With my Maud-Dib, I have to push HARD on the battery throughout the draw to keep it engaged. Just wondering if that's normal...

IMHO that's a very nice piece for the price! I bought three before Christmas and gave two away as gifts. :) It's a very smooth draw and worked awesome as a little oil rig. My favorite way to use it is with a domeless nail.

I completely understand why the MFLB draws such mixed reviews. It really rewards patience and a dedication toward mastery. Once I started fully browning my trench and achieving multiple visibly cloudy hits during my sessions, its size and simplicity made its place in my arsenal crystal clear.
