Have you considered that perhaps your unit is defective? Why not contact the company and get a replacement instead of deciding that the "black herbs and a burny combusting smell" are by design, and therefore the FF sucks? Rather than labeling those of us with functioning Fireflys as "fanboys"...

I just wanted to mention that I've purchased two of these, and my Low-Pro Adapter from PlanetVape fits both without a problem. There is variation between my two pieces...the overall height, the weld to the can, the appearance of the Dewar joint, and the perc is lower in the first one I bought...
