w00t! I took out a bunch of balls so that the tip of the bulb is right at the screen; being able to see the tip made it easier to get the thing perfectly centered, too. Now it rips. 7.2V thru 6' of lamp cord is right at the edge of charring.

Probably depends on what gets put thru it; that same potential is there with the regular v-rod head, it's just more exaggerated with the extra surface area of the balls. I was doing live rosin and shatter over the weekend and the balls still rattle around inside the head. How clean they are...
