Brilliant Cut Grinder

I imagine you could do a halfway decent job with something like a dremel, the correct polishing attachment, and the right polish. There's more to it than that (like maybe repeating all the steps several times with smoother & smoother material, etc, etc.) That's how car finishes are done, anyway, which is what came to my mind.

(on edit / forgot): And if you were to do something irreversible, it's only on the inside :) 😰

You'll need to do some research. Same as me, if I were to try. Keep us posted!

With the current deal being 20% off the matte SS version, would anyone still recommend getting the polished version?

I’ve read what people have already said half a dozen times or so, but that has only made it harder to decide.
(Some people say polished might be better, but it seems like it’s mostly for the aesthetics. Although, that is kinda half the point of a ‘brilliant cut’ grinder.. So it’s not as simple as just judging function. Not to mention photos of the polished version look stunning!)

Anyways I would love to hear what y'all think about the current deal. Especially those that got one back when you could buy the polished version at a discount- Would you pay the current full price now?
Or, would you wait and keep an eye out for potential SS seconds from this next batch? (Presuming they even have any/I’m lucky enough to snag one)

I have both finishes and they are both the same from a usage perspective - I use them both daily. I think if you are partial to the polished finish you should get it because no telling if they will continue to produce them. The grinder will be with you for a long time. Trying to get the grinder you want from the seconds will likely yield frustration and will not be perfect even if you find one. If you have the means, get the grinder you want.

Something tells me that they are willing to do them in small batches which they control, e.g.; releasing on sale promos (like 4/20, holidays, etc.)

In this way, they can manage the orders, and keep a skilled person / machine(s) dedicated to the run till they're done, then remove them from offer until the next holiday comes. Gather ordrers & repeat.

They're not going to do these as 'one last run, forever, amen', if they're not sure they can produce these 'at all'. Which means they've figured it out, but want to control the flow, vs. getting onesie-twosie orders that they have to make on-the-fly adjustments to production to accommodate. JMHO.

Both of the ones I got were from seconds, and I can’t tell a single thing wrong with them and I compared it to one of my friends One and he can’t find a single thing wrong with it.

Typically, according to GFL and my own experience, the BFG seconds are just not the perfect color. No flaws, but it just doesn't match the correct one. Ruby instead of blood colored, etc

That's great. The seconds aluminium one I got has some nasty milling marks in the catch tray. Nothing like the full price one I purchased.

Yeah I don't think they said that exactly, they're not all just imperfect color, some are actual flaws in the finish... Still cosmetic only imo (blood ruby for example was a much more rare one off occurrence, and I think the other examples of off colors are even a bit more few and far between, for the seconds, but that's my own conjecture of course)
