Tornado by Vestratto

Definitely has power calibrated differently. John mentioned that in his Instagram post when he said "we redid the coil output calibration to more accurately reflect delivered power to the load"......."These improvements are a key part of our desire to “move beyond the click” enabling both dry herb cold-start bowls and high temperature dab applications". There was a change to battery management also as John stated "but we now control and monitor what we draw from the battery where we previously let the battery manage that regulation".

I agree with the over 5000j. Mid 5000 at least when not using Cascade mode. I think the position of the Tornado in the Forge is also at least as important. Seems to me the deeper it's inserted equals more conduction.

At the moment a 1hitter RDL/RTL is 5500j/85% and wagon wheel stopper set high.
Waiting ro mine in the mail, what is cascade mode.
Does it come with a manual, i don't see one on vestrattos website

Cascade mode automatically calculates power needed to get similar roast during a back to back bowl, so it accounts for stored heat in the vape when you reinsert it.

No, it does not come with a manual, although there is a manual for the V1, but it’s outdated and was created when cascade mode wasn’t a thing, so it doesn’t mention it.

So I used the wand on one of my other fav vapes and I thought I went long. No clicker. Vapour was thick and heavy.

I then used the wand on the nado for the 1st time. I got the er 1 then just continued to heat. Got a click and fired away.

Beautiful thick tastey vapour. Got a lot of pulls. More than I needed.

I then compared the avb of the 2 bowls and the nado was lighter with a bit of green. No way I needed another heating. Also there was a bit less.

But what does this mean? The avb was lighter, there was less of it and I got more hits and thicker vapour!? Is the Nado that much more efficient?

Yes it is.

Dovetail “At Home” stem. XL “Out and About” stem and XL Anvil case for reference. Comes in ~ 9inches. Very nice, very recommended.

Also pictured is the HMK glass, which is also very recommended for dry use. Most favorite piece of glass that I’ve owned.

Magic stick arrived

Got the Forge last night. Still trying to find my sweet spot. A few initial observations:

-I don’t mind the size of the device itself, but I do wish I had one of the slimmer M12s on it. I grabbed the larger 4ah because I was concerned about battery life and it was the best deal at the store. I’ve heard the unit is always drawing power with the battery inserted, so I’ll want to remove it when not in use, but I’m finding the battery a bit difficult to pull out of the device. Just a bit of an annoyance.

-It took me a little while to figure out how to get the thing working. It’s kinda crazy to not include any instructions. Thankfully there’s a good community here and on Discord to get help. The usability of the software seems fine, if a little clunky. It’s nice to have all the customization options.

-The device is pretty noisy when switched on and especially when actively heating the Tornado. It’s not the worst thing in the world but I found it a bit distracting initially. Maybe I’ll get used to it.

-I had the wagon wheel on backwards at first. It wasn’t until someone on the Vestratto Discord sent me a link to some instructions that I realized the pin screws in the other way. I have it threaded all the way in for now.

-As far as the actual heating goes, the device seems to do its job. I started at 4500 85% and that was way too light, but the terps were bright. I worked my way up to 5200 85% and still think it could go higher. Someone told me lowering the power below 100% can give a denser hit because it results in a longer heat soak. Is this true? I think it’s going to take me some time to dial in my perfect setting, but I’m also thinking this is never gonna be the exact same heating profile as a torch. I haven’t been able to get the same density of vapor yet, but the flavor profile seems pretty great with the Forge.

I think that’s it for now. These are just my initial raw impressions. I’ll report back after getting more familiar.

Congratulations, you will find your power as you use it.

Yes it's true 👍

Apparently the V1 heated more quickly, and with a more powerful heating curve. V2 heats up a little longer and seems to increase linearly according to my observation.
Where V1 increased exponentially...
So yesterday I used 5800j at 95% and I'm not getting any clicks at mid hit like I was earlier at 5500 at 90%.
And I don't lower the wagon wheel all the way down.

Others have mentioned the noise but I'm not on my unit. I hear a low audible beep when it's done heating but nothing while heating or off unless I hold it near my ear and I hear a slight buzz. I hear ok 🧏‍♂️:), and room is dead quiet.

Have you tried cascade mode yet? If you haven't, create a preset with that 4500 85% you found light but terpy and change the heat mode from 'automatic' to 'cascade'. Give it a couple hits after initial heat, put it back in the Forge for rapid reheat, rinse and repeat as desired and see what you think.

I prefer the wagon wheel stopper higher than what the threaded post can be screwed in from bottom. About two threads recessed. I think the post isn't long enough. If you have a Tempest, use the bowl attached to the stem to adjust the wagon wheel stopper. Tempest bowl fits like a glove over coned shaped stopper for adjusting.

Takes me just under 12 sec ;) No additional noise for my unit either.

The only noise my Forge makes (or V1 made) is the end beep and faint ticking sound (like an analog timer) when using Cascade mode.

Hi!
I was able to order a Tornado! I know there are threads about an Adapter and maybe stems?
Is there anyone who sends to europe?
Thanks!

If you contact Tswooden Art on IG, you can order a stem and even a wpa adapted to the nado.
No adapter needed 😁.
I ordered a stem and a wpa for $150, international shipping included.
In France for me.
Tswooden is based in Vietnam.
