Discontinued Purple-Days Vaporizer

I think using a variable voltage with the UD would be the best of both worlds right? Or does this hurt the longevity of the vape?

I was thinking about grabbing a variable voltage power supply from a user here for my PD clone, but not if it might shorten it's life.

I actually use a beer coozy around the body to help make it a bit warmer temp ;)

Variable Voltage is great with the UD. It responds much quicker to voltage/temp change than the PD does. If you run your UD 24/7 you can turn down the voltage while not using it and it will help prolong the life and comes up to temp much quicker when you need it. Plus you can run it a little higher while in use and then turn it down when done. Hope that makes some sense.

Makes perfect sense, never thought about that either thanks for the tip!

I keep my PD clone plugged in 24/7 because it takes an hour to warm up. The quick warm up time was something I definitely liked in the HI.

Haha looks like I'm not the only one scared about his PD dying

Mine is a clone, but definitely worried what I would do without this vape. Woke up a few days ago and it was cold :(

Turned out the power supply had died, but I was still very scared lol

I have an EE degree so hopefully I might be able to get it working again if it dies, but no guarantees.

Is Underdog considered the closest vape to PD currently?

PD stems will work in an UD but our stems will not quite fit the PD (or clone).. so if you've got PD stems hold on to them.

Also we can rebuild (new wooden body, new heating element, etc) your PD or clone as many times as you want so you can keep it going indefinitely.

It has been many years since I fired up a PD and roasted a few stems. Well today old Ash and Walnut got up to temp and each had a few stems and a good coat of the buzz butter.

I like Ash better, and will always keep it but Walnut does provide the bigger hits. A little higher temp walnut really does get some lung busters in considering the size of the load. Cheers, even after years without use PD always holds a place in my longterm rotation. All you log heads out there, keep on keeping on. Whatever your log of choice may be.

Amen brother!

I know a few of you have recently bought PD kits, I have been patiently waiting for some updates. ;)

OK disagree with me, I can't force you to be right
I still have a couple PD....shame they are just sitting in a box. I should either break them out or find a better home for them.....just cant use them all :rofl:

Hold on to them if you can. Every so often some poor soul (like me) will find this thread in seek of stems. In my case @Madcap79 stepped up and sent me some gratis.
I plug my PD in before bed and if during the night I need some meds its all ready to go. If it ever gives up the ghost its good to know Underdog can do a conversion.

:peace:

edit: just re-read your quote. Are you talking about stems or actual PD units?

Well here's a sneak peek at a special PD. Finally get to test it out tonight. Had a random drug test today. Luckily my boss is my friend and gave me a heads up a week ago. He knows I partake. Anyway, positive vibes appreciated. Still a little nervy about it. Here it is:

FC Fam!! Guess who now has a PD!! I don't understand it, but it was an anonymous gift from one of you!

It's funnny, I used to lurk FC before and while I had a og davinci. I decided to sign up when I started looking into a desktop. I was stuck reading the PD thread, but I sprung for a DBV. I eventually started looking back at the log vapes, that's when I finally reached the point of no return in this thread and I realized I could no longer order one. I talked to a few people here and settled one an Underdog and I loved it so much, I've been through a few different Dogs and still in love. At times I've wanted an enano and I'm on the HI list. But I've always been drawn back to the PD. the elders of the forum would talk about it and I'd always salivate. I kept reading through this thread trying to experience it through reading, but now I have the real deal!

i ripped open this box like a kid on Christmas.. Seriously. I found a (seemingly) brand new cherry? unit with three stems, butter, oil dish, and two car power supplies. I plugged it in and went outside to do some yard work. After some grub, i decided I'd try a stem through water, and milked it. Then i finished the stem dry. I love it.. Thank you so much.. I still don't believe it. :peace:

Edit-I also found a lucky stone, and purple container. The stone is going in the tackle box, and the container will have hand sanitizer or lotion in it. Thank you again!!

The purple container is for cleaning your stems. Use some alcohol and let it soak for a bit and shake every now and then. Works great! Welcome to the club!

Hello friends. Been gone a while, so long I don't recall my old handle or which email address it was tied to, but it's good to be back. One forgets what a community this can be. Anyhow, was clearing the stem of my cherished PD last night when I blew the screen and my last unbroken retaining pin out along with the vaped material. I picked through the garbage, got down on hands and knees and ran a magnet all over, everything I could think of but it seems they're gone. Anyone know where to find such pins, safe to use in a vape?

Are you talking about the retaining ring?

If so it's a 1/4" internal retaining ring (aka snap ring, aka circlip) and you can find them at most well stocked hardware stores (not the big chain stores usually though) just ask an employee in the hardware department (by the screws, nuts, bolts). You'll also need a set of internal retaining ring pliers that fit the little holes.

If you want to buy online send me a message and I'll dig up some sources for both of them for you. :peace:

Thanks yaw! It was the stem pins. I found some at a hardware store, but it did take calling a bunch of them. As predicted, the chain stores were no use.

ed. Well, no, full disclosure the guy from Fastenal tried his best. They just didn't have any that small. The big box employees didn't know what one was, but still made a point of asking what it went in.

Those internal retaining rings can also be found at auto parts stores.

I had contacted Pam years ago about those rings and she suggested that I try using the screen only with a tight enough diameter to stay in place. Made a huge difference in how often I had to clean the screen, so I've never used those internal retaining rings since.
