I just don't get it.

I've got the AIO+ power supply, an Ed's Wood stem, and the Pinnacle Water Tool, and no matter what I do, the clouds I have been getting out of my vape still just do not even come close to what I see in most videos. I've tried every conceivable method of packing and hitting the vape, and I just can't get good, strong vapor, no matter what.

I'm at the end of both my wit and my wallet (I've spent enough to have just bought a Plenty at this point), and I'm about to just buy a nice bong, sell all this mess, and forget about vaporization all together. My experience with this device, as my first vape, has been consistently underwhelming and it seems that nothing I can do will change that.

As soon as I plug it in, it starts beeping and the bottom and top blue and yellow lights start blinking alternately. does this sound like normal behavior??

That's a commonly reported issue with the charger, not the unit. Lots of guys have had it, some used other supplies, others the universal replacement from Radio Shack, others have swapped them out. Generally your unit is putting out too low a voltage, you might actually have better luck in a different outlet (several have reported this), but should not count on that. It's marginal, at best.

I just don't get it.

OK, please tell us about your bud. Where did it come from, has it been tested? Well cured? Are you grinding?

TIA

Thanks OF, I was actually just coming back to add that I checked the PS and it's putting out 12.4 V.
I'll try another outlet anyway....
Was hoping that my Underdog PS would work, but the plug is a different size.

Edit- I must have a half dozen 12V DC power adapters around here, and none of them have the same plug! Tried with a different outlet- still beeped, but strangely the blue idle LED stayed lit for a few seconds after I disconnected from AC. Don't know if that means anything, grasping at straws here....

What temp level/s are you using? Is the ABV greenish/brownish in color, or solid light or dark brown. How has it worked for you with just the glass stem without water tool? And, as OF asked, have you only tried it with the current batch of herb, or various?

The ABV is usually totally black on the bottom from conduction, and then goes from brown to light brown and sometimes a little green at the top. This happens almost regardless of packing density.

Before I got the Ed's stem, the Solo was really mediocre in my opinion. I could hardly get any clouds at all past the first couple of hits, regardless of temperature setting.

I usually go straight for seven since I have a power adapter and I hardly get clouds in the first place.

You didnt answer OF below. Is your stuff dry? Dry is better for vaping BTW

EDIT: Where did you buy it from? What is the serial number?

Several guys have reported reading normal voltage when not connected to the Solo, you might have that as well? Not able to supply enough power (current) to charge and still keep the voltage high enough. Hopefully that's it, it's easier to deal with. I don't recall anyone with light shows not having it been the charger not the Solo????

OK... are you taking care not to overpower the heater by not drawing too hard and fast, especially with the water tool? I see on another thread that you've been having a problem with an AIO power adapter. Has that been resolved, and can you still get a good charge?

@Tus-Chan if you really want a bit more help that what was already said sometimes a vid helps us diagnose your issue. From what you say it sounds like user error and a fuckload of frustration. Some of us, especially me, have been there done that so let us help you get the proper expierence. Hang in there a little longer and please do a vid. Just for an example, one guy tried it all but when we saw a vid his stem wasn't all the way in. He thought it was but it wasn't and then all was good in his life.

That was my first guess also @Dreamerr .
His stem is Not all the way down .
He reports Dark abv on the bottom but greenish on top .
or
his draw is way too fast .
what temp level are you using ? @Tus-Chan
edit ; nm I see 7

I always pull my stock Solo stems up a TINY bit (like a mm or basically as small a gap as I can get by eye/feel). Seems to hit better (thicker vapor with less restriction) that way? I also use the o-ring even with the stock stem if it matters.

Boooooo. I like the snug fit of the stems, but do not like that gap!

I would find a thinner o-ring with the same ID (Inside Diameter), I think that should let you screw the cap all the way on and still keep the whip tight.

I measured the one from PV and got .553" ID and a cross-section (CS) of .105".

After a bit of searching, I found a website that sells o-rings (there are several, this is the first one I clicked on). http://www.oringwarehouse.com/

I would try the AS568 number -015 o-ring in either Silicone or FKM (flourocarbon) as they are rated for the proper heat.

And since the minimum order is $5.00, you're gonna get at least a couple dozen of them for that price. As soon as you get them, place a couple in an envelope and send them to me. I have the thicker cap too. :p

Someone had posted , either on this thread or the ascent ...
They were willing to customized your portable vape with
skins , a ' la laptops/cellphone style . Peel and stick on .
Maybe sports logos and such , but I can't find that link .

Then maybe I'm the first. Picked up a charger at RadioShack (returnable fortunately), same specs, but still same issue.

For why cant we use high temp silicone washer/o-rings? They are flat on the top/bottom... so that would seem to solve the problem. No? I use something similar in automotive applications.

My thought as well. I find that the Solo requires a loooong sloooow draw to really get huge hits. I often see and feel very little until a little ways into my draw, then the vapor starts streaming from the load consistently. At that point I "lock in" my draw speed to keep the stream steadily flowing into my lungs. Once you hit that sweet spot it just keeps producing vapor.

I would just like to add that the PVHES Shorty and PV O-ring have done nothing but increase my appreciation for the Solo. They have made it easier to get huge hits, and the O-ring keeps the stem in place nicely.

Although most people recommend getting the technique down with the stock stem first, @Tus-Chan might consider the PVHES stems and O-ring.

@OF?
Would work. However, if soft type silicone similar to the HT tubing, it would also become sticky over time. The tube I use to hold the 14mm Gong connector to my bowl goes sticky and I replace every month or two.
OTOH, if harder type silicone, would likely be fine but you loss the elasticity.
Maybe something in-between?
:2c:

@OF will know better.

@caliqula we weren't talking picking up the stem for air flow this person had it basically out and we could see the herb. Also the reason you might have issues with the flat washer is it won't compress against the stem. Remember I have a washer in my 102 cause I needed a smaller ID then the oring had even compressed.
