I will try this after I know how to properly test resistance and will report back here with how it goes. But one question, if I am getting heat to the hercules, does that mean my bottom insulator is already in contact with the hercules?

Im not sure if its the same issue, but when i got mine, the hercules would not glow, and wouldnt even get warm. It was basically like it wasnt even screwed onto the top. The issue was the bottom insulator was screwed in too tight and not making contact with the single top. Unscrewing it one full turn fixed that issue.

Im not sure if the issue goes both ways, mine was not making contact with the persei top, im not sure if it can also be an issue of not making contact on the other side with the hercules, but if so, and your getting heat I would guess that means it is already in contact...

Are you using 2-18350 3.7V batteries?

yeah confused if its already in contact because im getting heat, i experienced the same problem with it not being in contact and already adjusted it to atleast heat before i posted.
sorry forgot to clarify that i am using 2 AW IMR 18350 3.7V batteries

just need some last help with anyone who can look at my multimeter and fix any settings i may have wrong before I test again if it lights red or heats. patiently waiting lols

Before I try this, can you help me adjust the to the correct settings on my multimeter. Here is a picture of how I currently have it.

Sure, you're nearly there. You want 200 Ohms, four more clicks CW (at about "3:30"). The rest should follow.

Stupid question but are they fully charged? It took me a while to understand just how quickly the Hercules drains these batteries, which causes severe performance drop-off.

In fact I'm over-paranoid now to the point where I just switch out the pair of batteries with a freshly charged set in between sessions.

what reading should i be looking for? my number keeps jumping

*edit held them together for about 20 seconds and it read 0.2

yeah i made sure everything was checked off (from my knowledge) just to cover all grounds.

Hmm thats strange. At least your using the correct batteries and are getting some heat so its probably just something stupid...maybe you adjusted it too much to get the part thats screws into the persei top to touch and now its not making a good contact on the hercules side...im just speculating now though...

The 0.2 is the baseline or whatever. You subtract that from the reading of the hercules to get the actual or corrected results.

If the numbers are jumping when you try and get a reading from the herc then i believe your not doing it right but Im not positive. You want one probe on the threads and the other probe on the bottom of the threads of the metal hercules part, not the bottom insulator...(or at least thats how i checked other cartridges)

Thanks for the help man. Same thing though. This is the weirdest thing, I've been using my SR71 since Day ONe and never seen something like this!

G I want to thank you again for your help too. I still stand by this product 100% and don't doubt something I did might have made this problem happen. That said, I didn't try and force the PTFE in ;)

Same problem even with that third PTFE. No idea what happened.

Anyway, more importantly, should I be worried about losing the washer that's supposed to go under the mouthpiece? Or is it working fine if you just don't screw the mouthpiece all the way down?
I would also like to know if the washer under the mouthpiece is important, I believe that's the piece I lost as well when I was emptying out my first load with herbs. Haven't seen an answer yet or maybe I'm just too medicated to notice and missed it :p

@exit Yes the washer is important. Its changed from orignally just being a washer to now being more of a washer/cap combo though. Without the washer you will not get a good seal, and as a result will not get good vapor production.

The hercules parts will eventually be for sale in 3 different options from what i was told [(1)Outer tube/bottom insulator/mouthpiece/washer, (2)Upper herc chamber/rod/nut, (3.)Bottom herc chamber/bottom adapter, center pin, ptfe ring]however they have a lot on their plate so i dont think it will be anytime soon. I would contact @THC SCIENTIFIC in the meantime....

Ahh, well shit then. I have no idea where mine went.
Does anybody know what size they are so I can get a couple spares?

Sorry dont really know what yiur issue is, ive been really busy and just skimming the thread the past week or so...thats weird though, I was gonna ask if your using the black rod, because that is what it sounds like, but I can see in your pic it is a white rod.

Are you using 2-18350 3.7V batteries?
yes im using a white rod and 2 AW IMR 18350 3.7 Vbatteries
It's all good.

Just set it to read resistance, put one lead on the thread and one lead on the center part of the pin.
read your post on how to read resistance (sorry I knew the instructions were there somewhere just couldnt find the right page. I have a reading of 1.8 and and a reading of 0.2 for my multimeter when i touched both ends. so i have a total of 1.6? what is my next step

I've been thinking about this.

Seems like I need to "prime" my Hercules when stable stuff is in the coil (in my case some shatter glass). From a cold start (unless my ceramic rod is freshly cleaned) I get burnt off tasting hits until I add a small dab on top of the rod. At that point (I assume) there is material making contact between the rod and the inside of the coil, which allows heat transfer? There might also be a capillary/wicking action going on, which keeps material from running away from the heat... but that's purely a guess on my part.

In any regard, for whatever reason that allows me to session it up, easily vaping tasty hits out of the small dab as well as the coil reserve. Of course, after cool-down the process begins again most of the time.

Has anyone else noticed this? Happens even with a well loaded coil.

edit: I should add that I tested this in the following manner;

Well loaded coil w/ shatter. Very distinct lemon skunk taste. Vaped big clouds, no issue. Cooled it down and tried again. Got that burnt taste from the rod heating up and not much vapor. Added a dab of a different, sweet tasting concentrate (not very viscous) on top of the rod. Hit it and immediately got the flavor from the new dab. Kept hitting it and that quickly turned into the lemon skunk taste. This kept up until I cooled down. Tried again without priming, and I get that burnt taste again.

Interesting.

Sounds like you're good to go!
my resistance is a total of 1.6, is that still good? also if i didn't have a good reading, how would i go about fixing it? thank you for all your help everyone

*edit*
i just tried and it heats, but does not get red..
*edit
the resistance of the herc is 2.2
touching the ends of the multimeter is 0.2
do i need the resistance of the bottom insulator ?

im melting wax/budder and my coil is uncut, what is the best percentage cut for the herc?

i just tried and it heats, but does not get red..

see last page for same advice but in more detail

take off the outer plastic shell
take off the bottom insulator
measure resistance, should be 1.7 +/- ~0.5 (your 1.6 is within this)
if the resistance is good put the bare herc on without any coil in the chamber
press button and it should turn red in a matter of seconds

if your resistance looks good but it's still not turning red i don't know what to tell you, make a ticket no w9tech

Ya that should be good.

This is what people are telling me when they are using the herc no vapor and correct assembly.

Not enough oil is in it, and the top stainless cap is either missing or not installed correctly.

do this stake the middle ptfe piece off, only use the stainless cap and the mouth piece.

@ataxian or anyone else that has a ce4 cart... Just wondering what ohms you got for the tank, does the 2.5 work well with pure gold? I don't really wanna get it and wished id had waited for the 5.0 to come back in stock, or wait for the 5.0 when the 2.5 is hitting well...
I use PG all the time. (It's not as good as SHATTER)
2.5 cartomizers is what I use.
OPHOS
OMICRON
PERSEI (normally a SHORTY)
18350 IMR AW or a 3.0.
Using the OMICRON everyday since I got it.
The HERCULES with 2 x 18350's is so powerful it's extreme!

Go easy on the PG!
Tomorrow SHATTER city!

It lasts a long time.

DEpends on the oils, stable stuff likes a 20 - 30%, while runny stuff like gold likes 100%

@THC SCIENTIFIC - what's that steel thing coming out from the mouthpiece! i have never seen this before or on the W9 store! is it a washer replacement?

if it isn't, this is the right size for the washer, right?

http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Washer-Finish-Nominal-Thickness/dp/B000FN1JPW

that are the top caps that we replaced for the washers, once you send in your bottom adapter in and we repair it we will send one washer out to you.

Sorry if I missed this and you posted about it before. What's the benefit vs. a washer and if it's better than just having a washer in there can I buy one or something?

Interesting.

This is going to happen with most if not all of the oil pens out there. When you heat it and it glows, your burning or getting close to burning some of the oil or whatever is in there. If the heating element is glowing its getting beyond the temperature needed for vaporization, that is why pulsing is recommended. When it cools down, the burnt oil or residue is left over and this is what is getting heated the next time you go to heat it up...kind of similar to vaping flowers.

Loading it fresh, even topping it off, your adding fresh oil in there and this will get vaporized first before what was already heated up/left over, which is why you get the fresh taste...

I have the same issue with the cera and my hercules/white rod (as well as every coil pen ive tried, but with those you load less, more often, so its not as noticable)... I would suggest purchasing a black rod. You can heat it for a long time, and get no glow, no burnt taste, while still producing pretty huge rips. Let it cool down, come back later and taste is still there, no noticeable burnt taste

For my white rod I cut the coil to be 30% of a full one.
I like SHATTER the best so far.
The full melt taste good however the SHATTER is the ticket!

The full melt mixed with GSC in a BENDER is pretty amazing as well!
It's more LUXURY than a NECESSITY!

is it okay if the wax is touching the ceramic rod because the coil is flush with the rod? will it waste the wax?
