my bowl/joint seems to be fine but I am having the temp control issue. Even when I turn the unit down and I can hear the heater stop heating it still doesn't go green right away.

Hey guys, so we did a triage and figured out what is going on. I asked PowerNerd to make the light extremely accurate and it seems that we went a bit overboard. Basically, if the temperature drops by more than a degree, the unit will turn red. While the accuracy is commendable, it is causing quite a bit of confusion for our users who are using the Cloud when it is green, and waiting when it is red.

For anyone with units where the light seems to be acting strangely, please do the following:
  • start using the unit at the minimum setting and let it heat up for 10 minutes
  • begin taking rips
  • see if the unit if producing light vapor
If your unit functions in this manner, it is working fine but the light mechanism is not. PowerNerd is on vacation until 3rd week of July and will be able to tackle this problem when he gets back. Please keep using your unit and ignore the light, typically it only takes the unit a couple of minutes to heat up/cool down. When the firmware has been fixed, we will reprogram anyone's unit where the light is functioning strangely. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused.

Thanks, Stonemonkey! I knew you'd be on it.

Looks like I'll have my unit back before the weekend. I can't wait to cloud this place up again. :brow:

Awesome service Stonemonkey ... very impressive (as is everything, it seems, about this vaporizer ... )

Everytime I anticipate something this much, it's almost always too good to be true. I jumped on the viVape for instance but when I got it, although the flavour on whip mode was great, there were many, many things that bothered me about it for the price and what I had expected. vaporizers.ca was awesome though and exchanged it for me without problems (don't want to discourage others from the vV though, like everything, it has it's pros and cons and definitely has it's supporters--and it's not going to stop me from trying the miVape, if it ever comes out!)

Gotta say, I love my Volcano and my Arizer Solo though--as well as I've recently started really enjoying my EQ through my bubbler/perc with elbow hits ... but I'm always looking for that something more ... (I think all the hype about the Cloud just has me searching ...!!!)

Anyways, enough rambling and back on topic, can't believe the excellent service. Just the slightest hint of a common thread of a problem and you guys are right on it, and not just with vague promises but with firm explanations as to what is going on and what to expect as far as resolution times. (Coming from the Software Development world and understanding how difficult and demanding customers can be at times, I must say again, I truly am impressed )

I have recently received my SGW Cloud package too!
This thing is great! I am truly impressed with its overall experience, will do a more in-depth review later.
I also want to thank those that mentioned holding the bottom glass portion of the center tube while inserting the elb in the top, to avoid stressing the clamped glass.
My unit takes exactly 13 minutes to turn green at the 12 o'clock position. (had hoped 8 or 10, but if that means possibly longer heater lifespan, that's a worthwhile sacrifice)
I have also noticed the strange light behavior on mine, when adjusting the knob: after allowing to heat to 'green' at '12', then lowering to '11- instead of 'green' it will either go 'off' or stay red. Noticed fluctuating behavior in the opposite direction too, so I try to leave it at 12. Regardless of the strange light patterns, it seems to operate just great. Still experimenting and observing.
This has 'set a new bar' for vapor experience, really enjoying it! Thanks VXH Team!
Forecast: Cloudy :D
@whoops, I seem to have missed the above posts while i was busy writing and revising mine.

Doesn't get much better than this for responsiveness.

Not only is it here, but since he and I had spoken earlier he took the time to call me to explain exactly what he's outlined here.

Much appreciated either way.

LOL That's what I was thinking. I was also kind of hoping to see it out for delivery when I first tracked it like some did, but Pittsburgh is a few extra minutes further away than north SF haha

Tracking says Tuesday at the latest so im hoping for Sat/Mon delivery

Does this mean that any recently shipped Clouds will exhibit this behavior?

I would also like to point out that SM called me as well late last night and explained everything. Couldn't ask for better customer service.

Yea, that is probably true! I just want to say that if you have a unit with funky lights or some issue, don't let it get you down. Once you get a perfect heater, you will be AMAZED. I use mine constantly and have yet to experience any problems (knocking on wood!) and it's been a few months now :)

v is for vapor
Relieved to see SM55's post. My unit takes 22 minutes to go green for the first time and then flickers, so I was steeling myself for having to go through a return etc. It certainly produces dense clouds of vapor but I have no idea what temp it's at.

Initial impressions of the Cloud on day 1:
- The official Cloud is smaller than I remembered the demo unit being--but perhaps my memory is faulty since after the Cloud demo back in Oct. I literally couldn't find my way home for a while.
- The SGW HT is a great design. Mine has a rather noticeable flaw in it, unfortunately, so it doesn't look as good as it could, but on first use I haven't noticed any leakage or problems in functionality.
- You all weren't kidding about the ELBs fitting tightly. After my inaugural Cloud yesterday evening I found the removal of the ELB such a daunting prospect that I decided perhaps I didn't need another ELB-ful after all. It does seem to adjust quickly, fortunately.
- You all also weren't kidding about the heat. Not painful to the touch but enough to focus my attention for sure.
- There was some offgassing/electrical smell.
- The items were packed perfectly. Our local shipping place will be happy when I bring in all the bubble wrap for them to re-use.
- From just a brief sampling of a botanical blend from my neighborhood, the device is just as efficient as I remembered from the demo in Oct. It'd be easy to overdo it--see the previous thread for my cautionary tale.

The new ELBs are made with a thicker mesh to provide more strengh/durability. This however has resulted in a "fatter" ELB so the fit of the new ones will be more snug. There may be a market for "old" ELBs for those people who prefer the looser, more easily inserted/removed ELBs.

Stonemonkey told me also that these new units are programmed to be hotter than the past units in order to have a higher temperature range. This means that "9:00" could be the new "12:00" and that "12:00" is now closer to "3:00" and so on. This allows the Cloud to vape at even higher temperatures than before to handle concentrates better. This explains why I couldn't hold my Cloud at "12:00" due to the heat of the shield. There will also be some new modifications to the heat shield to provide even greater insulation.

I registered to buy this thing yesterday but after hearing about the LED sensitivity with temperature changes and the mods to the heat shield, I might wait a couple of weeks until they make those changes. These things don't necessarily bother me but I would like a unit that doesn't have the LED issue since I live in TN and don't want to mess with sending it back once they fix that. I hope I don't lose my place in line because I can't wait to finally own this incredible vape, this was just unfortunate timing. How are you recent owners enjoying your Clouds?

I got mine last week. It is working great. No LED issues. I have been using mine at the 10:00 setting.
No complaints at all. Again full review on the way. I just have to finish moving.
Again thanks VHX team!

I would suggest emailing them and ask if you can order your unit, but wait for it to be shipped when Powernerd returns in a few weeks and has had time to adjust the firmware. It can't hurt to ask.

I have a couple of complaints about the Cloud.

First, since using the Cloud exclusively, I can no longer blame my over-consumption on a vaporizer. Sure I can pack that ELB full and run through two of them in no time. But you know what I just did all day yesterday and today? Backed it down to 1/3 full and stopped after one ELB. Result? Blazed. So fuck you, xvh crew, for pointing the finger back at me.

Second, the Cloud has turned me into a vapor sloth. I used to work the subtle nuances of my vaporizers. VG...down to a science. SSV...monster rips like butter. PD...hammered with so little. I could go on and on about technique, etc. But then I started using nothing but the Cloud. Let's see...I pack a bowl, put the Cloud on my Ion and suck. Result? Vapor bliss. I have a VG coil that I can't hit and have only tried twice. I have a HI that hits awesome, but I'm having trouble with it with my Ion and only tried it once. I have four or five vapes that I can hook up to my Ion to compare to the Cloud. In fact, I bought the Ion specifically to do that testing. But instead, the sloth slowly walks over to his Ion and day after day puts his Cloud on it for some more vapor bliss. So fuck you, vhc crew, for making vapor so good I am too lazy to try anything else.
