The G Pen by Grenco Science

Howdy, Sensi, welcome to the fun.

I'm afraid I didn't follow you all that well, are you looking for vpaes for THC or Nicotine? They are similar, but different. Guys around here tend to look for the first, but many also use vaporizers for 'e-cig juice' to deliver their other drug of choice, Nicotine. I'm afraid I'm not one of them, but there are plenty around.

My take is if you're looking for an e-cig rig, there are much better options out there than the basic 'no name, entry level, cheap POS unit' that's been modified to sell to us dopers. There are a couple of systems (tank and cartomizer) worth considering first, and a huge range of features and quality to consider.

Then OTOH, if you want a rig for concentrates, "there are much better options out there than the basic 'no name, entry level, cheap POS unit' that's been modified to sell to us dopers". These would include purpose built units from Omicron and TV as discussed above. The unit in question in this thread seems to be yet another in a long line of attempts to 'break into that market'. IMO it's going to die as the others have from low quality, poor design for the use and lack of after sales support. Spend your money carefully?

Anyway, what's your pleasure? You looking to vape concentrates or PG or VG with a pinch of Nicotine?

If talking about nicotine use/replacemet, I went with the "Ego" made by Joye.
I have procured this particular ecig for over a hundred smokers., and it is very effective, easy to maintain and reliable. It is sold by dozens of Ecig sellers.

Bingo! The straight poop from "the Sage of the High Desert" his own self.....not going to get much better than that.

The 'sold by dozens' part is a useful clue, IMO. But bottom line is 'Vitolo is wise'......

I appreciate your confidence in me, OF.
My wife and I have a few of these around the house, a couple over a year old... all still work.
Joye itself is not a retailer, but a maker.. and the product "Ego" is not regulated as are some
American vaporizers, so the cost of the "Joye" brand Ego is very competitive. Even the "fancy guys" that sell more expensive stock , like the "Jessie" also carry the "Joye" as standard practice.
(now that we spoke our piece about e-cigs... perhaps we better recommend further discussion to the "ECIC" thread.. to not derail this thread totally!)

Excellent point, more so because I got this started and I might be way off base....again. The OP might not be talking Nicotine to start with?

No matter how you slice it, I don't think this device is a top of the list choice for most guys???

Could it be a PG coating put on the element during production? I think that in the ecig world some attys come soaked already with PG to stop them drying out between manufacturer and consumer. I'm clueless on the heater- seems this is like an ecig? Certainly from an ecig factory I reckon, maybe it's how they do things?

But yeah, you don't want to vape a mystery substance. It could equally be something horrid.
Yup, it should be PG and for the reasons you stated. I saw someone recommending it a lot on another website, and after I did some searching I found page after page of people that thought it was a seriously inferior product. I haven't personally tried it, but when this many people have only bad things to say about it, it gets me thinking...

So i bought a Gpen at a headshop ( no medical mari, so less support) and it worked great for a week. Then after loosing a charge overnight, it never turned on again. The shop put me in contact with grenco, and they were helpful in sending me a new tank and charger (which were not broken in the first place). I finally went to the shop and they just gave me a new battery out of the box. I went home and plugged it into the charger, and the light never turned on. It won't charger even after 12 hours. The light fades in and out when pressed but does not heat the element. I have now been discouraged from the product and I am planning on getting a refund/credit for the bunk shit.

Sorry to hear of your problems, for sure you spent your bucks to enjoy the vape, not mess with it.

Better luck with your next vape choice. FWIW you might lean toward units with long history of good service or at least ones where you can easily change a battery out? I'm thinking a Omicron V2 might be a good alternative?

Anyway, not to loose faith. Vaping is the right approach, heath wise. Good luck with the next vape.

Thanks for the info, this is the most up to date site. The replaceable battery sounds like a must. This pen is most definitley a knock off of some cheap imported ECIG.

You're right in that there's some very good folks trying to 'keep it real' around here, IMO a huge resource. While a non replaceable battery won't disqualify a vape for me outright, it's a feature I look for (having one) not only from a reliability standpoint (which is of course very important) but also from the side that says it's nice to have a charged battery handy to swap in rather than waiting for charging. The whole idea of being portable is to get away from the outlet, spares allow you to do that for a longer time. Leaving home with few in the pocket is like having 'drop tanks' on your fighter planes so they can go long distances with the bombers......

I don't agree it's a knock off of an e-cig, it is an e-cig being used to knock off a cheap copy of a real vape perhaps?

In any event, I'm better the next one works out better. Pour some coffee and do some reading.....

Best wishes,

Somewhere I read that it is relabeled parts from a Chinese E cig. So yes, an ecig being used as a vape essentially. This was a random post, and I don't know if it's reliable, but the Gpen is suspiciously similar to ecigs that have screw on batteries (this could be one of the main problems). The 'Trippy Stick' looks exacatlly like a gPen, I mean mirror image. The only diff is that it has a cap like a pen for the mouthpiece. http://www.trippystick.net/trippy-stick-store/

@Sensi - Go to the big ecig forum and look around. Wouldn't buy one from these buys, there are many reputable vendors w/ eGos out there which are great starters.

ECF is a reputable source for information, don't let the weird URL turn you off! Even though I only used an e-cig for ~3 months I got all my information from there. I ended up switching again to snuff, hehe.

So grenco finally replied to my emails, and are sending a new battery in the mail for free, and I will send mine in. She said they were a startup company, so they want to help everyone and find out what is going wrong with the product. This could have been done with promo testing, but at least they are helping out.

I ordered a Gpen and when i got the package I found that they just sent me the tank w/no battery. I was pretty upset but after calling them, they agreed to send me a battery and free tank for my trouble. Its been a few days so I decided to call them to confirm if they sent my battery out. The girl was the same person who helped me before. She said sorry but my package hadn't been sent out because the batteries are backordered. Pretty infuriating.... I guess i made a mistake with this one.

Sorry to hear that. If the backorder takes too long to ship out you could ask for a refund. I do not see what reason they could come up with to deny you a refund considering you did not receive what you paid for, just a thought, best of luck with them.

I ended up getting ancy and bought a battery from another vendor. I was concerned with all of the information in this thread and the unit working properly, but after 1 day of use I have to say, this thing is pretty awesome. Most discrete and functional way i have seen yet to enjoy concentrates. The clouds are unparallelled by any other vape Ive ever used. Hopefully it will continue to work, but at $60 per pen, might just buy a backup. I highly recommend

Excellent! Glad you're happy with it, neat idea isn't it?

However, rather than buying another identical one, why not try a different vape of the same sort? There are several popular, proven alternatives out there that seem to have very good records and reputations. There could well be better options.......

This is a nice fourm. I read most of the comments.and surprised at all the negative feedback on this device. I picked up a gpen about two Weeks ago and I love it so far. What I want to know is if anybody saturated their wicks before they used it? That's one thing greenco should have mentioned. There's a nice video on YouTube called "G-pen how to fill your g-tank" thats very helpful on how to first use the gPen..

Oh dis lamb?

Can you tell me some of the other wick based concentrate pens I should investigate?? I have heard of the omnicron and persei.

I didn't "saturate" the wick but i put a bunch in there. My oil is on the thicker side. Only the very bottom of the wick is still white. I also have an extra tank should this one get messed up.

Cool, Omicron carts would be worth checking out. Persei is actually a bigger vape that uses Omicron carts. I'd also suggest DART or Revolution from TV. They use a ceramic wick system that you can boil clean whenever you want.

Depending on the threads on it, your "battery" should work with one and need a five dollar adapter on the other to try out. Both those maker's batteries are IMO better suited to doing this (higher power out for longer times without charger issues), you might want to consider them eventually.

Both systems have HUGE threads here.....they're that popular. IMO for good reason.

Good luck.

Cool..thanks for the info. I live in a NON medical MJ state, so getting Omnicron doesn't seem like an option. I already own the TV w/ revolution. It works well but doesn't vape oils quite like the gpen.
