I do have favorites-
This is not to say I will not test other products.. I surely will.
When it comes to a "pen" type vape for oils (with herb carts in development) So far, I am sold on Delta9 (THC Scientific).

hey all, first post. volcano user for 4 years and just got the g pen for a personal travel piece. everything is perfect, took it to nyc and seattle on the plane so far, and a couple concerts. all good, but when i received my 2nd tank in the mail yesterday i noticed the same thing and emailed grenco. this is their reply:
"The wick is lightly coated with U.S. food grade vegetable glycerin so that customers don't burn the internal components when vaping the G Tank before filling it. Our experience is that most customers turn their G Pen on before filling it, and the light coat of U.S. food grade vegetable glycerin prevents any damage from this unintended use."
i took the liberty of looking up U.S. food grade vegetable glycerin and the actual substance checks out. my experience has been great and so has my friends, although one of theirs broke only 1 week into use, but they sent him a new one within 2 days. i'll stay tuned for more.
its awesome to see so many like minded people in one place. this should be fun. talk to you all soon i'm sure!

I picked up a g pen. When I press the button it smokes & smells like somthing is burning with nothing loaded in it . I have tried to burn it off by pressing the button but it keeps on smoking. I will not use this or inhale whatever this burring substance is. I'm taking it back where it came from!

I think I read the maker puts some PG in there in case guys do what they're not supposed to do and run it empty.....sorta like you just did? I'd check, I think the coating is intentional and probably reasonable and safe.

Safe, possibly.. when used under "Ecig and Ejuice" temperatures and applications...
Maybe not 100% safe used at "Oil Dab" temperatures.
That would be a personal decision, like OF says...
But the taste sure does suffer. When I tasted Blueberry wax in the G-pen it tasted tainted to say the least.

Excellent point, even though the junk is used by the ton in 'canna cigs, who needs or wants it?
I guess I just see so many reasons not to be 'going there' I don't think these things through. I find Omicron and Revolution to work so well, being purpose built for the job with proven solid Customer Support teams, but that it seems might be both good and bad perspective wise.

i will say the company is great as far as community service is concerned though, they sent me a new charger immediately/for free when i contacted them.
i'm wondering if there should be a non-wick alternative tank where it's basically just a mini skillet (red hot coil again maybe?) that you put your dab on and then use on the go. i know the taste you guys are talking about as well. taking a nail hit vs a g-pen hit of the same wax tastes different. i haven't noticed any headaches, but as the oil melts down onto the wick and away from the coil itself (or is inhaled) the taste changes and isn't as pleasant until i reload.

In all fairness, this is not the same for others. Many have reported no response. And it seems established we 'chased them off' with negative comments.....it seems reasonable that service suffered some then.
As to what might be done to improve this situation, you make a few useful suggestions. I think they've been tried, but could be wrong. The point is, I think, that that should have all happened before orders were taken? Normally this involves 'Beta testing' with a reasonable number of 'known' users, something that seems lacking here? In any event IMO this should have happened well before they started taking folks money.
The time for Research and Development is before release, not after. Responsible folks know that.

I took it more as a paid advertisement or product placement which is what it is. They are just playing out the script for the review. Not saying it wasn't valuable but its like one of those manufactured sponspored car tests on speed channel. More of an infomercial. I say the more the merrier. The cream will rise to the top if these products are any good. I certainly dont want to be an early paying customer though.
EDIT: So I just read the reviews and really no surprise it appears another knock off with no engineering around concentrates actually involved. just rebranded e-cig parts. its a shame to the unsuspecting consumer who can't tell the difference between the Omicron and Thermovape and these ecig parts. Thanks Vito and others for sharing your views as well.

I own one too and I love it. Every cartridge is made and sent out with some vegetable oil in it ( just to show people that are buying it how it works and that its not broken when they sell it to you ) I suggest just burning off the majority of it before filling it up. I know this because the girl at the pot store where I bought it at was very knowledgeable about it, it was great. She went to a convention in Las Vegas and saw it at a booth there and then their store ordered a bunch. It's not harmful for you to vap, it just tastes.. well like veggy oil which I found a little gross. I use mine just for honey oil and have smoked it a lot now and everything still works. The hits get a little smaller right before the battery dies which isn't really a problem just take 1 or 2 more pulls.
I had one friend that somehow managed to break his cartridge but other then that no problems.
Im new to this site today also. But its only because I bought a G-Pen because my boy that owns a dispensary had one and i took a rip off it. From that day forward I had to have one. My other boy has a blunt-e which sucks because you cant load shit in it. I personally dont work for g-pen or who ever and could give a rats ass if they make a wooden nickel. But anyway, my 1st pen never charged after like 12 hours on the charger. I ended up taking the budtender at the shops battery because I wasnt about to wait 8 more hours to charge this shit. Long story short.... the pen is cool as hell. The wicks are kinda dumb but the pens dope. And yes I joined this site TODAY. But again they dont pay me so the most theyll ever get outta me is 80 bucks.

.. You also had a failed unit on your first encounter which does speaks even more to the reputation of the company i see why you mention few times you are not employed by G-Pen.. Sry to hear about your 80 $ but the risks go together with the joy of being early adopter of some product

Thanks for the welcome Abysmal Vapor! I will say although the first pen I got was a dud me and my boys do really like the pen. Im not even gonna lie. I love this pen. Not for the same reasons as other people Im sure. This is my first vape device ever. But it does give you a nice it when you pack a dab. But we will see how long this bitch last hahahaha! I would like to try(not buy) another pen to see whats the diff. I know one thing that blunt e thing is garbage.

Hey, great to have new player in the game! Now that you've 'found' vaping I predict exciting times ahead for you. If you like 'load as you go' gear like this, check out Omicron cars. You can load a whole gram at a time and it meters it out over a few hundred hits on demand. Fifty or more hits per charge. And there are exciting and proven units for herbs as well.
Pour yourself come coffee, do some reading and try to hang onto your money.......
I honestly think it can change your life. Well at least this part of it. And save you bucks to buy more vapes and drugs...how cool is that?

Thanks OF your reply had me laughing! My chicks next to me asking me whats so funny. But anyway EVERYTHING you said is soooo prevalent. Today as I left the local hydro store, I noticed a little vape lounge with no sign on the door or nothing. I waled in and the guy said they weren't even open yet but started to kinda try to sell me stuff. I showed him my G-PEN and he pretty much shitted on it. He said it was wack lol. Then he shows me something called a " dark revolution". It seemed pretty cool but was much more expensive and doesn't work with bubble I believe. He said it was like $60 for the main unit or whatever, and then like $100 bucks for the battery part with charger. I was thinking, this guys crazy. Then he loaded it up with some tabacco flavored liquid (i do smoke cigs too) and it was gross but the rip was no joke! Im interested in that device but like OF said, keep your money in your pocket! I think I'm going to look into other pens very soon because the rip on the G-PEN is not going to cut it. Omicron is a name that keeps coming up too but I've yet to encounter one. Gotta do my homework alright lol.

OK, that's Revolution (with a window) or DART (without) from Termo Vape, an Omicron competitor worth looking into as well IMO. Very solid stuff of simple design from a Medical outfit that also makes a similar e-cig line. Both 'load as you go' devices that absorb the concentrates into porous ceramic. Either will do bubble, but Revolution with it's window is probably better as you have to stir between hits. The are tough and can be boiled to clean. Great threads on all these guys on this forum. Lots of good information for your reading pleasure. Hard to go too far wrong, really.

Found this post and I had to share my experience: I bought one of these - been using for a few weeks. At first I used some wax and got pretty high. Then I started to notice it tasted like chemicals or melted plastic and gave me a headache. I contacted Grenco Science and they replied with a a PDF explaining it's completely safe and the funny taste was glycerin which should burn off; they even recommended oils. So I bought some oil from my local dispensary - the funny taste was gone and I was getting pretty high. But I still kept getting a lingering headache. After awhile I forgot to reload the tank, but I was still getting big ass hits??? WTF is that smoke I'm inhaling? So I do a little more research and find out this thing is actually a re-branded Chinese e-cig called the EGO-W which was meant for a specific nicotine oil, not the waxes or honel oils for medical users. Made me realize that Grenco Science doesn't actually do any manufacturing or R&D on this product. The PDF they sent saying how they use high quality safe materials is complete bullshit. And that smoke I was inhaling from an empty tank? That actually IS melting plastic/chemicals from the coil and fiberglass wick that was NOT meant to burn waxes or honey oil. MEDICAL USERS BEWARE - Grenco "Science" is in it for the profit, not your health or safety.

I think you'll find folks around here in full agreement. Except for the random ones that show up, sing high praises about this (or similar rebranded e-cigs), telling everyone how it's better than their Volcano (why is it they never have the same vapes as the rest of us???) and all. Then we never hear from them again. We not only agree with you, but hope to see you here more?
What is it you're looking for? A 'load and use' device for oils and waxes? Omicron (and Persei) has a very loyal following in that arena, most of us feel for good reasons. Also recommended for consideration are DART and Revolution from TV. Both load say 50 to 100 mg at a time (20 or 10 to the gram) for 6 to maybe ten solid hits, each much heavier than Omicron (which has ease of use in it's favor). TV products can also be easily 'completely' cleaned by boiling and ISO soaks, making the taste cleaner than any other vape on demand.

I originally became interested in the G Pen/EGO-W when I saw weedmaps review of it on youtube. I have to admit while I was using it, it was super convenient. Watching the video now, it's obvious that it's an entirely scripted advertisement. A dispensary told me about the Omicron a long time ago, but I was turned off by the fact that I had to buy the pre-filled carts from them instead of using my own ingredients. I see that people are able to re-fill the carts on the Omicron themselves. Thanks for the recommendations I'll definitely be checking all those out carefully before I purchase again. Right now I'm just still pissed that somebody would sell a hazardous product to unsuspecting people like the G Pen.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, but the world is full of folks out there trying to make a buck off others. Some of our vendors are true standouts in their dedication to the patients and customers they serve. We get spoiled in that.
Not to blame the dispensary if it was a while ago. Omicron carts used to be a lot like some of the VG and PG based ones like Gentleman's. However, modern Omicrons are another animal. For the most part you can only get them empty. You fill them with the concentrate of your choice (usually a full gram), from which you get 2 to 400 hits. Real hits, better than the best from the modified e-cigs.
The good news is your GV pen will probably work with Omicron carts using a four dollar adapter. That, a few carts and some concentrate and you should be in business. Someone who actually has th GV pen should confirm it, of course.

First post. First off, great forum. I have yet to explore it all, but great first impression, great information. I was turned on to the gpen from a friend of mine. Trying to do some research of my own. Pardon if I sound naive, but this would be my first vape and hoping you guys can shed a light or point me in the right direction. I'm tired of cigarettes. Prices and the smell. How would you recommend the gpen for Me cigarette replacement wise? Or would you prefer another? Appreciate any info.
