The new Vaponic Vaporizer made by SOLWE replaces the Vapbong. Although the Vaponic is similar to the Vapbong at first sight, it's actually a major further development of its predecessor.

These are the new key features of the VAPONIC:
  • Increased Filling Chamber
  • Faster and easier handling, filling, heating and cleaning
  • No grinding of the herbs is needed
  • Visual control of the heating process
  • Unintended combustion virtually impossible
  • Vaporization based on conduction and convection
  • New design and dividing line marking the 'where to touch' area
  • Extra fine and durable steel filter
  • Very useful multifunctional maintenance tool included

Current Vapbong owners will be able to purchase an upgrade kit to turn their Vapbong into a Vaponic.

Retail pricing on the Vaponic is 39,90 € and in North America will probably retail for the same as the Vapbong $59.95.

The Vaponic Vaporizer gets released for sale on Monday May 21, 2012. We will be stocking the Vaponic as well as all replacement parts and screens.

Hey PV, any idea what's included in the upgrade kit for Vapbong owners? All the bits look slightly different, with the exception of the glass mouthpiece. I guess the silicone part is just a different colour?

Hi WatTyler,
Sorry for the delayed response, we didn't know the answer, so we wrote the inventor himself, who we know personally, but he must be very busy with the new product launch and has not gotten back to us yet. As soon as he does we will post the answer here. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Abysmal Vapor,
They must be working on the new site www.vaponic.com , a few weeks ago it was blank, then for awhile it forwarded to www.vapocane.com and now it has the vaponic logo with a coming soon message. Not too sure why the loxlux site is down, we will ask and post any response we get here.

Peace and Love,

They added a manual to the site!

If it works as described and you can really just stick nug in it I'm impressed!

Using your Vaponic

Open the Vaponic (Img. 09) and stuff your herbal blend or tobacco into the filling chamber. You can grind the herbs but there’s no need to do so. Just roll and squeeze them between your fingers for a second and push them inside (Img. 10).

Different topic:

If you use a normal lighter, then heat the tube up with the blue part of the flame and not with or above the yellow part of the flame. This will help to avoid getting soot on the glass (Img. 15).

manual_03.jpg

I actually didn't know that, I'll have to test out their regular lighter method next time I fill an omicart, I have gotten soot before when I had to use a regular lighter...

I wonder...

My HerbalAire crucible measures about 19/32" (dia.), the Vaponic's outer tube dimensions are 3" x 15/32" (dia.), so... Hummm... It would be a lousy fit and i doubt my HA is hot enough anyway, euh...

But what about the other brands/models???

Since the LoxLux is no longer being sold by Solwe is there an alternative, such as using the VapBong/Vaponic like some add-on accessory capable of providing a "cleaner" airpath to a table vaporiser?...

Great Scott!
Vapes like this usually give great flavor, but to me the need to use a butane lighter is why I can't/won't use it :/

you don't breathe it though darkrom. Checkout the airpath- it's pretty damn near as pure as they come, minus a glass screen.

That wasn't my concern in this case. That is a must have for me, but I had that with the gnome as well. For me the biggest issue is refilling and dealing with butane (especially in the cold) is a huge hassle that I never have much luck at. I simply get frustrated more with the butane than the vaporizers themselves.

What do you get frustrated about? I have 3 jet flame lighters from dealextreme so, not exactly top notch, and they work fine. I have a bigger one, and two smaller ones, and they work fine. Refilling takes 1min and then you're set.. I would consider this Vaponic if i did not have my gn0me classic already, and it was cheaper than 50$.

Does anyone now the thickness of the glass?

so i've got my replacement vaponic tube for the broken vapbong tube and a good jet flame lighter. tried it out at home and quite liked it. so much, that i decided to take it on a test to a walk in a park. it didn't go that well. since it was in a daylight i couldn't really see the flame and combusted a little with not much of vapor coming out. second try at home gave better results, but the second load got a little burned again. yesterday i took it over to a friend's place and it didn't stand the test, unfortunatelly.

my conclusion so far:

positive:
- it's handy and concealable why not in use
- it is easier to clean and to load then the vapbong
- when you manage to produce clouds, it has a nice taste and the clouds are quite visible although not really thick.

negative:
- combustion is easy to achieve, if you heat up to long, it gets dark brown really fast. you get smoke with vapor instead of vapor.
- hence it requires some amount of learning, 3 out of 5 of my tries ended in different grades of burning the material
- it doesn't seem to be a good outdoor device to me, because of the issues with the visibility or adjustment of the flame. also, even a slight wind seems to be an influencing factor
- i've got the impression, that i needed more material then for my MFLB to get the same level of high. but it might be subjective
- it's not that easy to conceal while in use. the MFLB remains my vaporizer of choice in this matter.
- your lighter might get out of gas, so you might need to carry lighter gas with you.
- it get's hot, if you don't pay attention someone might get a little burned. but it actually cools off pretty fast.
- it's seems very fragile to me, hence has to be handled carefully. which is not always possible while medicated :)

all-in-all it's surely not a bad device, capable to produce some tasty clouds, as soon as you learned how to perfectly use it, but i haven't got there, yet. i'd define it as portable in the sense, that you can take it anywhere with you and use it, while you visit your friends. i wouldn't recommend to use it outdoors or in public places, though.

it would be interesting to know how it perfoms in comparison to the gn0me. from my understanding it's less likely to burn the material using the gnome, but i haven't got me one yet. so people with experience with both devices may step forward. :)

I had similar experience to Axacal's... I combusted to some degree (sometimes barely) almost every time I used it.

I'm sure eventually one can learn to use it properly, still it is easier to combust with the Vaponic than with other vapes I've tried because the window between too hot and not hot enough is quite narrow.

Using the retained heat method, The Vapocane (I like the cheaper Vapocane B version *much* better) never combusts (but you can melt it if you get carried away). It is my favorite vaporizer by far.

My portable vaporizer is the Vaporgenie. I learned to use it in no time and practically never combusted since. It looks like a normal pipe (I have the teak hand carved version) and using it in public with a soft flame (recommended for the VG) does not attract unwanted attention, at least not here in Berlin. It does not compare in terms of purity or flavor, though. Once I tasted pure vapor I feel reluctant to inhale it mixed with butane combustion residues.

If stealth is not an issue the Vaponic could be a good alternative, so any proper usage tips would be very welcome.

[EDIT]

I have spent the past couple of hours perfecting my technique... the youtube videos are very helpful as well :)

I used it both directly and through a bubbler just by letting it rest inside the 14.4 downtube GonG connection. Alternatively one can remove the glass mouthpiece in effect creating a sealed connection with the silicone ring. I find it works quite well either way.

How does the new bowl work with hash, guys? I really rate the old design, but only really for hash (vid here), though I'm not sure if it could be replicated with this new style- it looks too big, with the gauze too far back to act like an effective liquid pad. I guess it would also need some kind of gauze cap in or over the end (it might not fit over, in the old style?). Have you tried?

since i misplaced the charger for my mflb i've toyed around with the vaponic in the last couple of days. some times i've managed to get a couple of decent tasty cloudy hits. but, as hard as i've tried to develop a sure shot technique it just doesn't want to work consistently. i thought, maybe working with the zones of the lighter flame could be a possible approach. like for example to heat it only with the top of the flame. since the flame has different shades of "blue" , every shade should actually have a determined temperature range.
any expert advice on that matter are welcome.

also, the loading appears to be a huge factor to me. there should be enough air left in the bowl and grinding is to avoid. if the herbs are to fine, the vaponic is not your friend. :)

letting the device cooling off after every hit(even if it wasn't hot enought) seems to play a positive role too.

as one can see, this one is a tricky beast. :) but the decent hits i was able to get out of it, make me keep it trying out until i've found my mflb parts or finally manage to order the gnome.

It works perfectly with hash as well as any other substance that lends itself to vaporization.

A few points to bear in mind:

* Preheating and subsequent heating are a slowish and iterative process. Since the Vaponic uses both conduction and convection, I found that drawing air throughout the process helps, even when the unit is not warm enough to create vapor. This helps to heat whatever you have inside the chamber evenly, not only around the edges. Subsequently the flavor is improved as there are less "hot spots".

* When used as described above one has perfect control over temperature. It is therefore useful for substances having lower - or higher - vaporization temperatures. Hash, in my experience, needs more heat.

* Since the Vaponic has very good heat retention, subsequent heating will cause the temperatures to rise, potentially combusting whatever is is in the chamber.... use with care. Letting the unit cool down sounds like a good tip, I have no tried it myself

* It is useful to have spare inner tubes as hash and some other substances leave residues that may be difficult to clean. Replacement inner tubes and screens are available and inexpensive, so you can have a tube for weed, another one for hash and so on.

The Vaponic has a pure glass vapor path but not a pure glass air path as cool air flows through the silicone grommet that holds the inner tube and mouthpiece in place. This DOES affect the flavor since the inner tube gets warm. Personally I find it acceptable, but pure glass vaporizers such the Vapocane do produce tastier vapor (I have not tried the VHW or Cloud).

After having just tried the Vapbong with hash, I think it is better suited for this purpose than the Vaponic. For weed I would use the Vaponic though.

It might have to do with the mass and heat retention of the compacted brass screen and I find the smaller chamber more suitable for hash and the top filter is also nice.

Question: What do you do to clean the sticky residues on the inner tube and filters?

I use a pipe cleaner wetted with isopropyl alcohol to clean out the glass stem, where as I torch the screens to burn the residues off- I just place it on the end of the straightened paperclip I used to poke it out, then torch it until its red hot then blow on it hard to clear the ash. It comes up spotless.

Thanks for the comparison Vapbong v Vaponic for hash. I just hope that they don't stop producing the Vapbong style stem.

As far as I know the it is discontinued. It shouldn't be so difficult to fit Vapbong stile filters to the Vaponic. As far as I can see apart from the larger chamber the glass appears to be identical.

They indeed seems to have stopped VapBong production. Which surprises me because the VapBong is a device working perfectly as a convection vaporizer, using a jetflame lighter (that leave no soot on your glass) and some training. I am really used to the VapBong, I am gonna buy some units before it become a rare piece of collection, lol.

About the Vaponic, why conduction and convection here, when convection was working great ? They say it's for making the herb chamber bigger, no need to grind the herb and everything is ok because you heat the Vaponic from the side... This is irrelevant to me, since i already have my best results with the VapBong when heating it from the side, rolling it... I don't know if having a bigger chamber is a good think either, was just fine too. I expect more residues in the tube as there's no second screen anymore to retain vaporized material (that's probably what puzzles me the most, actually).

I might give a try to the Vaponic, but really have no expectation of spectacular improvements over the VapBong. I will post when i encounter one ;)

Been a while since I've used my Vaponic so I decided to get it out the other day. Came up with a "new" screen design and I'm getting far better results than I typically would.

We were delighted to see Vaponic at Spannabis this year, where we sat down with the creator and learned how to use the Vaponic from the master. As well as not needing to grind your flowers, the Vaponic does amazingly well with bubble / full melt / wax when you just roll some up in a screen and place the screen into the bowl.

The Vaponic extracts beautifully and the taste is divine. Thanks to the patented air mixing system, the hits are so smooth. The heating technique is different from the Vapbong, be careful not to heat the tip.

Here is the new usage video:
