Whoops. Thought you had said your airpath was not sealed, it was someone else. That’s great.

^^^heres my old post with a video showing how I test the lid for a seal. Turn sound on. When no pressure is being put on the closed lid, I have an air leak coming from the gasket on the clamshell lid. When I put pressure on the bottom hinge-side corner, the unit is sealed and I get improved performance.

AirVape CS has told me that this is not normal and I am getting a replacement device, and will be shipping back my defective when I receive the new device, if the new unit working properly.
I just checked and fortunately my unit doesn't seem to have this issue. I'll reply back if I notice something.

I've finally got my hands on the package, so this is just a first hands-on impression. I'm not an owner of the previous model. Overall, the unit looks good, it seems to be well-made, and it feels nice in the hand.

The cork looks better than in the photos, but unfortunately there are some imperfections – it looks almost like veins going through the shell. However, it doesn't bother me as much in person as I thought it would.

But what makes me surprised is the smell. I've done five max temp burnoffs already, and it is still bad. Hopefully, it will dissipate soon as others stated. But this is the first vape I have had trouble using on the first day.

Yes, the smell still feels intense after a couple of burn offs. I'll probably do more today and only really try the device tomorrow.

Hello,

I received the Airvape Legacy Pro 2 today (pre-ordered back in April).

I can agree with others – the cork material on the device is already peeling off in some spots right from the box, and with use it will definitely come off even more. There’s also a specific plastic smell, which the Legacy Pro 1 didn’t have.

The box was sealed, but after opening it I was surprised: looking closely, I noticed smudges resembling fingerprints on the glass tube, battery, and a few other spots. I assume this was due to quality control, but in that case it would have been better if it was done with gloves?!? Otherwise, it just leaves an unpleasant feeling, almost like someone had used the device before me. If smudges was not fingerprints, still it is smudges on brand new device. I’ll need to clean it with alcohol wipes to feel comfortable using it.

I’ll keep the unit and won’t return it, since the price I got it for was good compared to full price. Though I do wonder if it’s really that good, considering the quality (cork, smell, smudges) wasn’t quite what I expected.

Originally, I planned to make the Legacy Pro 1 my backup and use the Legacy Pro 2 for daily use. But after seeing these issues, my impression has changed – the Legacy Pro 2 will stay on the shelf as a backup and now i have spare battery, glass tube, battery/tube door (will try if it fits later) and that metal thingy on this door for Legacy Pro1 :)

This was my first pre-order experience, and I think I’ve learned my lesson to wait next time.

Still, I wish Airvape all the best and will keep following to see if they come up with a solution for the cork material. If no fix is possible, I think it would be a great gesture if Airvape offered customers who received units with these issues a discount on accessories (like dosing caps or others). That kind of action would definitely make customers, myself included, feel much better about the situation.

Long live the Airvape Legacy Pro 1!

Oh boy. Not a great feeling on this one. I think I won't be doing not a single pre-purchase anymore. Companies seem to use this now as a way to manipulate their customer base into buying early when they have issues. So instead of this community getting an early opportunity for airvape to get feedback, it could definitely have been just a means to clear out "B stock" as some have said already. Now, I'm not saying that is what happened. I can't say with certainty since I don't know. But I do know it is suspect we received such a discount and almost all of the early units now being delivered have issues. It doesn't instill confidence, that's for sure. I def feel like they were trying to "unload" their quality issues on us. I'm still not sure I'm even willing to try it out.

I may break my unit open and see what's going on inside as well. I'm really tired of companies passing the buck on these prepay launches. Will not do this again.

Anyone know the approximate time from the email to actual delivery? This is really weird too. They all of a sudden have a ton of labels ready but they aren't picked up or being shipped yet? It definitely feels like a means to avoid cancellations and "lock" me into the sale now that word has spilled of the QA issue.

I'll update when I receive it. I may not even try the unit based on what I see in the package. Good luck to everyone else waiting.

Just got my AVLP2 today. Idk how many burn offs I've done, but this thing smells like ass... Is this thing safe to use??
still waiting for the avlp2 lol (been in pre-shipment for a long while now/april 15th order) the steampunk had a hot electronics smell too when new.. just heating it up you could smell it.. same as with hot metal smell ted burnoffs.. but not anymore..

when your doing the burn off max temp blow into the air intake to blow all the nasty out the mouthpiece..don't inhale it 😀 after a bunch of burnoffs just go for it.. put some terpy bud in there to get the internals all coated up nice.. smell will go away, lol

Just got mine a couple of hours ago, it only took a day to get here, got a free grinder too it seems. Seems to be a few small holes in the cork, but I haven’t used it yet

Edit: used it once and it was great, not having the same smell or air leak problems it seems thankfully

So what I don't get is why the device feels like 90% of it is made using decent materials. It feels solid, but the cork is garbage, and the screen is pretty bad... I'm confused. Still doing burn offs btw!

just go for it man.. at max temp your gonna smell warm electronics and metal (moreso when empty).. or any dust on the heating coils too (if you've never smelled a ball vape coil burn off - that reeks to high heaven but fades) your not gonna vape that high temp anyway (464?) so lower temps 385-392 prob hardly any smell.. get it seasoned with some herb in that chamber .. yeah 😀

I wouldn’t call myself sensitive and sometimes I skip burn offs completely because I don’t mind subtle robot farts but man, there is no way I’m hitting this motherfucker until all the stench is gone and even then I’m doing carefully. It’s still horrible, even at lower temps.

Same here i went through 100 burn off cycles ,even hooked this to a mini vaccum so i do not have to inhale. I drained 20 battery charges worth . Cork and leather and silicone parts stink like hell.. I have not seen such smelly vapes since flowermate v5 . I am pretty sure bad QC is what is wrong with my unit . It cannot be everyone has broken nose and cannot smell it ,i showed it to few friends and everyone says it smells like : New car tyre, Pair of sneakers , Farting pillow ,etc..

Mine came today. Surprisingly, no smell like people have reported, and my cork looks perfect.

That being said, not sure if it's any improvement over the 1. I'm happy I got it for under $100, but if I paid $269 for it (current price on their site), I would probably return it. This feels more like a refresh than an upgrade to me.

Also, I hate the new mouthpiece

If you really have no smell/taste then I really want a replacement or refund haha. I emailed them earlier today so we'll see what they say!

My original avlp2 and my replacement both smelled like that

If God is the answer, then the question is wrong
put some terpy bud in there to get the internals all coated up nice.. smell will go away, lol

Using flowers to season a offgassing device is like adding parfums a in a dirty toilet room without cleaning it before 🤮

Offgassing will still be there, you are just confusing your nose and still inhaling shit smell (and molecules causing that smell)

That being said, nose sensibility isn’t equal for everyone (even more if you are still suffering some kind of anosmie covid related) but material used in this mass produced device should be the same for everyone, so beware

I received my device a week ago and it still smells disgusting, even after 20 burn offs. I have also wiped the silicone parts but no chance. The taste of inhaling from the empty chamber is horrible. Will it ever go away? 😭

I had the AVLP2 on pre-order from LaCentraleVapeur and was actually pretty excited about it initially. I could have even lived with the unsightly cork cover given the price, as the vape was intended to be my festival vape anyway. But if there's also going to be a nasty smell, I'm out. Order cancelled, lesson learned. :\

Just got mine, like 15 min ago.
Got some tiny imperfections and bubbles on the cork :(
Very smelly indeed but i've just found out that the foam where the unit is stocked in the packaging smells just like the unit and it even seems to me that the smell comes from it instead...
Anyway, first burn off at 240° during 10 min and I guess i'll do it 3-4 more times again before trying.
