AirVape Legacy Pro / AVLP 2

My 2 cents for what it's worth. Never got AVLP in my hands so all feels new. Received shipping notification this Wednesday, received AVLP2 by Friday (in EU).

First impression is very good. The unit is very sturdy, heavy and feels premium. No visible issues with the cork.

What surprised me negatively at first was that the hinge was extremely stiff to a point where I wasn't able to open it without breaking my thumbnail or using a tool. I fidgeted a bit with it, open and closed multiple times and now it is reasonable - still stiff but not too hard to open, which is much preferred to it being loose.

There was (and still is after ~5 burn offs) some kind of a smell. I wouldn't describe it as silicone, more like a glue-y smell but what do I know. Either way it is slowly disappearing so I will continue the burn offs and will load the first load soon.

Overall looking forward to adding this one to the rotationCheers!
Basically what I think of the device as well! Coming from Xmax V3 Pro and Dynavaps, I think AVLP2 at 100 EUR is killer! Really open airflow, big clouds and cool smooth vapour. Flavour not as good as on Dynavaps, but slightly less harsh. I don't have any issue with the door being too stiff, luckily. I plan to use it as my outdoor and festival vapes, and it will be perfect for that.

Some minor things I don't like: mouth piece slightly too short for convenience, but not affecting use. Messy to clean due to the oven design, but easily fixed by using dosing capsules.

I think it has no competition at the pre-order price.

How many sessions can yall get in a single full charge of AVLP2? From my experience over 6/7 sessions, around 20-25% battery drain per 5-min session. I haven't tried full to empty test, but I think one full charge will last around 5 5-min sessions at vaping temp from 185 to 215 c. Does this sound reasonable?

It's a bit short battery life in my opinion, but I have spare batteries so not a big deal whatsoever.

After thousands of sessions on my AVLP1 I can say it gets me roughly 8-10 5 minute sessions with a Samsung 35E, or about 7-8 sessions with a Molicel P28A or the included 3200mah 18650 cell.

I have only done about 20 sessions with my AVLP2 yet, and haven't let it run out of charge before charging yet, so I can't say for certain, but I'm expecting battery life to be identical and from my limited testing that seems to be the case.

Anybody that is having issue with the hinge, mine was stiff upon arrival as well. I did what I did with the avlp 1 and put a little veg oil on a q tip and dipped it in the slot the door latches on. Super easy to open and close now.

Hey everyone :)
I'd like to share my experiences with Airvape and ask a few questions.
First of all, the support is really good! You don't see that very often these days.

Unfortunately, my EU pre-order Airvape Legay Pro 2 wasn't that great. It's my first Airvape product. I usually use a Wolkenkraft Äris Ultra and Fenix Neo.
I found three defects:
1. The cork was loose
2. One of the screens was not completely gold-plated.
3. The heating chamber had a few craters.
However, none of this was a big problem because customer support arranged a replacement for me, which will arrive tomorrow. I'm very excited to see if everything is okay this time :)

I also ordered some accessories, but unfortunately I'm not very happy with the
Water Bong for PRO with silicone adapter.
The silicone adapter fits surprisingly tight on the Airvape, but unfortunately it doesn't hold the water bong at all. It's as if the socket in the glass was manufactured incorrectly. The adapter fits perfectly on other NS14 bongs I have.
Very annoying, but I'm sure that customer support will get back to me with a solution soon.
What are your experiences with the the Water Bong?

I think the small bag and the dosing capsules are great. Both are extremely high quality!
A great addition would be something to transport the capsules in an airtight manner.

Which batteries would you buy? I found the following selection at NKON:
Murata US18650VTC6 3120mAh - 30A
Molicel INR18650-P28A 2800mAh - 35A
Samsung INR18650-35E 3400mAh - 8A
From what I've heard, more amps is better than capacity?

For the og AVLP, the batteries should have at least 10A. If this didn't change, the first 2 would be okay to use, I wouldn't use the 3rd. You could also use (just examples of batteries available at nkon with at least 10A):
  • BAK N18650CR-35E - 3500mAh - 10.5A
  • Molicel INR18650-M35A 3500mAh - 10A
  • Sanyo NCR18650GA 3450mAh - 10A
  • Panasonic NCR18650BD 3180mAh - 10A
  • Samsung INR18650-30Q 3000mAh - 15A

I recommend the Molicel P30B, they have very low internal resistance which makes them one of the best 18650 in terms of efficiency for the 30W heater in the AVLP (should be the same in the AVLP2), despite their slightly lower capacity of 3000mAh. Not running them anywhere near their max rated discharge current should also help with longevity. I got mine from dc-akku.de

The Samsung 35E should also work fine, but personally I would be worried about longevity when running them above their max continuous discharge rate.

As for the capsule container, I printed this model Airvape Legacy Pod Container v2 by chotaa and modified it slightly to use the handle from Airvape Pod Holder V2 by Arct1cF0x. Unfortunately Arct1cF0x' model had way too tight tolerances even in the V2.

It is surprisingly smellproof when closed.

The AVLP1 never draws more than 8A, so that's not really a concern. I have also done hundreds of sessions on each of the 2 Samsung 35E I have for my AVLP1 and they are still like new (which is confirmed by my external charger showing they still have full capacity).

In fact I am using a Samsung 35E in my AVLP2 at this very moment and it works perfectly, just like it did in the AVLP1

Good to know, however given the higher voltage sag of the 35E above 5A (resulting in more heat loss) and worse cycle life when comparing their two datasheets, I would still consider the P30B the superior battery for the AVLP (although possibly negligible). The 35E is indeed great value though.

my favorite battery for all my vape portables is the Molicel P28A 2800mAh 35A cdr li-on battery.

a standard, full sized, metal doob tube or even plastic doob tube is a great way to carry or store dose caps in a airtight container.- amazon is where i got mine.

TBH- the airvape site's water bong (refereed too) is really an add-on glass water bubblier, not a standard 14/18mm glass water bong.

airvape's cs dept on usa site is a good support service and an asset, for sure.

Has anyone this Water Bong? Does your silicone adapter fit nice into it? Wont get it airtight without pressure :\

Thanks for the battery recommendations!
I will try the P30B :)
Really strange that some sites say they are 30A and some 36A:

Received mine yesterday also. As above, no finish issues whatsoever.

Likes: premium feel, good weight. Controls are semi straight forward, I did forget how to change from session/demand and f/c but after that all good. Like the new magnet screen, I had issues with ALVP1 and just removed it completely. Hits hard (on demand) and medicates quickly. Load amount is same for me as Tornado/Frolic. Easy dump of ABV, with a quick brush/blow.

Not a fan of: The new mouthpiece. The material is fine, it just too short. I’m bearded, and even without, your mouth is touch the vape. Not including 1 capsule.

Time will tell: Cleaning. Looks to be an easier path but again, it’s going to be a funky mess. The lid. Mine is perfectly sealed and the cork is looking good (for now, just not optimistic that’ll be nice in 6 months), but I’ve almost bent a finger nail more then once trying to open.

Hope this helps anyone still struggling with the option of canceling.

Comfortably Numb
I've finally got my hands on the package, so this is just a first hands-on impression. I'm not an owner of the previous model. Overall, the unit looks good, it seems to be well-made, and it feels nice in the hand.

The cork looks better than in the photos, but unfortunately there are some imperfections – it looks almost like veins going through the shell. However, it doesn't bother me as much in person as I thought it would.

But what makes me surprised is the smell. I've done five max temp burnoffs already, and it is still bad. Hopefully, it will dissipate soon as others stated. But this is the first vape I have had trouble using on the first day.

Good Vibes
Hmm.. is there a airleak issue with avlp2 ? How to check if my unit is defective ?
Whoops. Thought you had said your airpath was not sealed, it was someone else. That’s great.

And Video that showcases the air leak problem with the gasket and showing how applying pressure to the lid fixes the air leak. With my experience it seems like the gasket on the lid needs a re-design

^^^heres my old post with a video showing how I test the lid for a seal. Turn sound on. When no pressure is being put on the closed lid, I have an air leak coming from the gasket on the clamshell lid. When I put pressure on the bottom hinge-side corner, the unit is sealed and I get improved performance.

AirVape CS has told me that this is not normal and I am getting a replacement device, and will be shipping back my defective when I receive the new device, if the new unit working properly.
