For your use, the High heater will be much better. The low heater is much better if you're starting and finishing a chamber load in one session, without letting it cool down in between.

The longer pre-heat time required for the low heater to finish off a cold chamber of already-been-vaped material will sink a lot of heat into the wood. This is likely why your heater got stuck. The added heat draws resin out of the African blackwood and when the resin cools it acts like glue. This can be completely remedied with acetone or 99% ISO on a q-tip to swipe the inside of the heater module hole. This will remove the resin from the surface, and also from the wood itself, so that issue shouldn't ever happen again.

As for your scorched stem, well, I would just consider it like a protective carbon layer that forms on the inside of a tobacco pipe. It's part of the break-in! haha. Now your stem will be well protected from heat under that thin layer of carbonized wood. Plus, it kinda looks cool in my opinion, so.. win/win.

As of yesterday, the last of the Nomad II batch 2 orders went out the door. This is actually a huge life changing milestone for me, and I really don't have the words yet to describe my feelings about it. I can honestly say that these Nomad IIs changed me. I was tested in ways that probably needed to happen, but the lessons learned came at such a great cost... that I'm just left a bit traumatized, ha.

Sometime, I will have a longer post on my experience making the Nomads. I've been re-writing that post in my head for the last few years it feels like, ha. Literally everything in my life has been on hold until I could finish up batch 2, including much of my posting activity on here. I'm hoping that'll change going forward, because I genuinely miss it!

The body is amazing!
Nature and Dan offer us magnificent views 😍

Enjoy your new treasure to the fullest!!

@seriousTone
I don't know who this Dan Morrison is, but he has some great ideas!!

Indeed, if you use a puff from time to time... the high heater will be much better suited to your needs!!
With the low heater , it always requires an initial warm-up, I find... or you have to know your device perfectly... but that's going to take you time if you use a puff every 2-3 days!!!

Dan I really want to thank you for all off your hard work through such a challenging time.

I think it's a testament to your character that you not only saw this difficult project though, but based on these early photos, you have smashed it out of the park!!

Literally ever piece is a work of art.

I see that #66 is on its way across the world to me and I can't wait to share my thoughts with you all.

@Dan Morrison you have my deepest respect

I was already familiar with Dan's work, but now I'm literally blown away by this Nomad. Nothing has been left to chance.
Beyond its stunning aesthetics, it works wonderfully with the high heater, is very intuitive, and responsive. A real pleasure to use.
Can't wait to see more Nomads here!

Holy shit, that blackwood is off the charts! CONGRATS!

I have to say Dan did a really fantastic job. Not only in selecting the best african blackwood blocks for the job, but also in bringing out the grain like that with extremely high quality polish. I've had other items made in african blackwood that don't look half as good as this Nomad. There's a lot of thought and work that went into this. I just love it, and having used it this evening with the low heater it's absolutely my favorite vape of all time.

It may be a bit too understated for most people, but I'm happy being a one wood man. Also, this Nomad should be pretty much bulletproof considering how hardy this wood is. It has a solid and dense feel that my other hickory Nomad doesn't have. It's hard to describe it, but it feels built like a tank.

My GOD, WOW, UNREAL! Congratulations on that Nomad and of course well done to The Creator!

I love all those Nomad bodies that are the two tone, they look like planets from above to me.

@fangorn hahaha too funny about the Vapman. Also, I take a couple hits 3 or 4 times a day, not every couple! It is amazing how long a bowl lasts me though.

@Dan Morrison The Creator has spoken and absolutely spot on (of course). It was 100% resin; the body of the Nomad got pretty warm a handful of times. And it eluded me at the time but it absolutely was like a small amount of melted shellac flakes that dried up again.

So bravo on that troubleshooting and it's cool to hear the tips on how each heater works for different session types and users.

Dan helped me pick an opal to go in there. I think this one we chose really goes well with the rest of the unit. It wasn't cheap, but this is probably a vape I'll use for the rest of my life, so why not...
Nice dude! I like the way you think, so did you jump on that Opal after Dan sent the email out about it? I remember wanting to but, yeah it was definitely expensive.

@BruCap @seki Wow I really love the canary wood a lot, goes great with your other choices.

btw are the heaters swappable between Toads and Nomads? (getting my Toad in the next batch, been on the Nomad list for several years lol)
Yes, the stems and heaters are swappable.

These are great units here!! Congratulations to all owners for their choice of wood and combinations, and to @Dan Morrison for his perseverance and artwork.

I couldn't be happier with mine.

Yep, I jumped on the occasion after he sent out that initial email listing it as a choice. I probably wouldn't have thought to ask for anything special like this otherwise. I went back and forth for a bit but decided to go for it, especially because I thought it would contrast nicely with the darker wood. It really pops in real life and it looks really special. This Nomad is as much a piece of art as it is a vaporizer.

I'm very selective with my vapes. Before getting this unit I hadn't bought anything else in a few years because I already had my other Nomad and a few vapcaps that I was happily using and rotating through. I wouldn't be surprised if this is actually the last vape I buy. It's that good.
