Herb Grinders

I've tried the fine, medium and course grinds from my Kactus Kutter in my Tafee Bowle 2. For me, and how I medicate, I like the coarse. The finer the grind, the more volatile the plant is and the less the temperature seems to matter (you get a big bang regardless).

OK, under obligation to restore grinder relevance …

Does anyone know a good-quality grinder that is geared toward really small loads … like maybe in the 0.05-0.25 gram range (i.e., one-twentieth to one quarter of a gram)?

I normally use a BCG (OG aluminum, fine plate) to excellent, fluffy results with a quarter to a third gram, which I then store in small glass vials.

But even just a quarter gram gets a bit lost in my big ol’ BCG. And sometimes I like to grind even less, just a pinch “on the fly”, for a single load. I have a cheap (but metal, and 3-piece) mini-grinder, not much bigger than a US quarter in diameter, that serves in a pinch. But I don’t get the consistent and fluffy/flow-ey grind I would get from the BCG. (But then it wouldn’t work well to put 0.05 in the BCG—talk about lost in there!)

Maybe I’m the only one with this application … but surely there must be others who would want to grind a small hit’s worth on the fly, perhaps while out and about (so a smaller grinder would be much better—BCG etc. too heavy and not easily pocketable).

I would think better grinder makers could sell such things on their own merits for this kind of use, but also benefit from an effect where people might be willing to make a smaller purchase first, to try out the brand, and then be more willing to spend bigger and upgrade/add-on a bigger model.

I suppose I could just do like Dan Morrison and get a loupe and some tweezers. But I imagine the convenience of a single-dose grinder, maybe with a direct-to-stem ( or -bowl, etc.) funnel … maybe even several funnels, to fit different vapes.

Something you could pack in a Vapman case, say, along with the vape.

Would anyone else have an interest in this sort of thing?

I bought one of these little 1.5" Mendo Mulcher 2-pc grinders a few years ago because I wanted something small and pocketable.

Was finally (after 2ish years) gonna pull the trigger on a grinder before seeing it was 303ss. I debated for those 2 years about the aluminum vs ss aspect then the whole not food safe thing crept into the debate.....

Guess I'll need another 2 years to figure out the whole 303 vs 304 thing now . Lol

Ive never had a grinder, always used scissors. I think I want to try one out. Which one would be absolute best in slot at the moment? Ive heard a lot about aroma 3, is it the one to go for? Some say it spills herb/kief from the sides tho, is that true?

Another option for me would be Flowermill next gen premium 2.0 ss.

Brilliantcut is not an option due to no availability in EU

Usually I grind 0.4 at a time. Please experts here tell me what to go for. Price doesn´t matter, whatever works the best.

If I'm chasing flavor or fine-tuning a new vape, I stick to using my fingers or a pair of manicure scissors.
Do you use your manicure scissors with shot glass or some kind of paper tray? Ive allwasy used papertray and usually slowly they start to develop hole in the middle. Allso ive started to worry about ink leaching from the tray to the bud, or plastic pieces, since its like a postcard material.

No, you won't be overloading it, or turning it upside down, but might be overkill for you? I thought BCG would ship anywhere, but there are other options here if you skim back... Some that are like them might be good

Like overkill as too big or too good?

The brilliant cut is too much wait and then big taxes + shipping. Needs to be something inside EU

Yeah, size, could buy one second hand? or some other EU option, whatever that may be, at retailer resale..? Hopefully others in the EU will see and can help you though

I could grind bigger amounts too, just that i use 0.5 a day and usually grind one days amount. But could do 1g at time if it doesn't work well with smaller bits.

It must be without kief catcher too, i don't like those. Easy of maintanance and as mimimun cleaning as possible.

Now ive looked through Lacentralvapeur and verdampftnochmal. There is only aroma 3s, caboo titianium and flowermill next gens.

Thank you for your help!

If you don't mind an Aluminium grinder the cuboo 3 pieces (magnetic, without kief catcher) is rather cheap for a CBG knockoff

There's also the Stona that is made in Germany but is really big.

And if you don't mind waiting a little, I'm pretty sure inhale has something on the drawing board.

No aluminium or anything cheap. It must be buy it for life, so i prefer steel over anything. They have a titianium cuboo for 200, and the aroma 3 is 140 shipped.

Stona was what i checked first but its way too big and the bowl shape is weird, bud can get into the corners.

That new inhale one sounds intresting.

It's a shame you don't want aluminium as the Gleichdick grinder from Austria is a nice option.

Fluffy medium grind, good grip due to it's Reuleaux triangle shape, and it has a magnetic closure.

I will read about it thank you! You think it would be better than a3?

With aluminium im scared of the dust problems. Allso don't like them to get stuck easily. The bearing seems to solve that aspect

I've never tried the A3. Apart from the Gleichdick, I've only used the SCS grinders.

If you are choosing between those, the OMD is great, and it's fine with less, the grind is not quite as versatile as all with only one plate and the bearing to spin grind for you... Cuboo looks more like BCG, so you will have more freedom to grind upside down a bit, to control the grind and make it more fine if you want, so that could be the better option if you want something a bit more versatile? Though it takes a little more effort to use and of course more expensive being titanium over SS which isn't necessary but would make it lighter weight at least and that's still a solid price I think?

I did read today that for staying sharp steel is better material. They gave comparison of most premium knifes being high grade steel. Only advantage in titanium as material i see is weight, but i will keep it only at home. I think i will go for the OMD, since its works even if dirty. I like medium coarse grind. Allso heard that in future they might make more plates.

Thank you for your answer🙏

Sounds like the right call then, I think you will be very satisfied with it, I really love mine, I got the XXL model too even though I don't need it at all, primarily to support them!
