Is the silicone dynavap wand insert okay to use with the v1 tempest?

Found a few comments here of people saying it works fine and some reddit threads of conflicting info.

Also any sellers of the v1 madheaters insert in the US?
This is relevant to me! I am using a chopped upside down DV adapter with my tornado and it works well. once i have the height dialed in for the T2, using one of these might provide all the thermal efficiency advantages of the new insert in a package that is both pocket friendly and easy to reposition if it gets knocked out of place. The last time i went gear shopping the wand didn't exist yet

Speaking of which, is there any tribe wisdom on the best place to source the DV adapters? i'd be interested in picking up 3 or 4 to practice chopping cleanly and precisely.

Labetkomp Day!
I love the tray, too @Duba
:)
ty!

Very nice! I am so sad that they are not making leather wand cases anymore. It would be the perfect match for the other leather works of art!

Nice good to know it works with the tornado. I was a bit worried about melting the silicone but seems to be okay so far. I think trimming the fins back inside so the bottom sits flush might reduce the risk of melting as well.

The wand is new to me but I'm so happy with how well it performs with the v1

I have had my T2 for a couple of weeks now. Slowly getting more attuned to how to heat it etc. but one thing I really can’t figure out is if i’m somehow setting the ball retaining screen wrong. Quite a few times i have opened the head up and the screen has come loose and a few balls have dropped out before I managed to catch it. Nothing major, so now I make sure it’s sideways when opening so i can be sure.

Until last night, when I caught a massive mouthful of combustion- the screen had come loose again but this time my bud dropped down the the balls so it never stood a chance. upon opening the chamber, they all went everywhere, made worse by the fact that i was outside… so goodbye to my ruby balls.

I have tried both over filling and under filling with balls, and somewhere in between. Tried flipping the screen over on both sides , making sure it’s completely flat. I’m also making sure that my loaded chamber is not overfilled so that it might unscrew the screen, but i’m still having these difficulties. I am not tightening the chamber to hard either. Barely screwing it in the whole way.

I think it’s my only gripe so far, and it could be down to user error but I’m just not sure what else I can be doing to mitigate. Makes the whole process of loading and unloading very precarious. I’m keen to hear if anyone has similar experience or tips

The screw of the chamber and the load of the chamber has nothing to do with the ball screen. The most, loading the material up to touch the ball screen, would make the top of the material to get roasted/burned. And never overfill the ball container.

How do you set the ball screen? Do you twist it until it does a click? Did your ball screen get deformed? In the new design use to be harder to open it. Can you share photos showing your screen and how you set it?

Ok i see. Can speak just for me and the ones i use (these from the simrell live streams) led to visually (and technically) flawless devices (fusion 2.0, tempest og, convector).

Of course I made sure all air holes were closed and after the treatment I made a proper iso soak to clean from any metal particles before usage.

Thats just my experience ✌️
All good, I'm no expert, those things you use are decent and I use them myself.
But give the cloths a look if you can, they're usually really cheap and last ages, and very handy.
It's always good to have lots of options in the armoury/tool cupboard for the creative stuff.

Micro mesh is worth a look too, it's not cheap, but if you buy a multi pack of grades, you can go up in grade order, the finish is unreal, very satisfying.

What a critical bit of information. I never held the head in place to twist to the click before. Didn’t realise there was that smaller part to the thread in there. Can’t believe I missed that. Thanks for the help - don’t think i’ll have that issue again

Awesome. Thank you for the pic and for sharing. I'm glad to see this marbled tray here:love:I hope you'll enjoy the tripod stand too.
I do! It will help when the bowl and cap have mated a bit too tightly and the Reload's magnet isn't enough or I don't feel like using the Reload.

It's also proving to be a fun and useful lightweight stand with the 10mm to 14mm unground adapter.

Can't wait to utilize the parchment and battery cases more while on the go. Your work has really elevated the entire experience 🙏

Hi,

Is anyone else experience poor machining regarding the indicator part?

Not sure how to share images (new user)
Mine is very similar. Didn't really notice until now. I think it's not terrible and some sanding would likely get it to where you want it? My cap is getting scratched to hell from the Reload so I personally don't see the point in trying to achieve perfection in that area.

Is there anything out there showing the difference between the Tempest and Tempest 2 heads?
V2 is bigger, which allows for larger balls (3mm) without cutting number of balls down significantly. This gives it more heat capacity which gives a longer extraction window. The V2 also has more induction heater efficient material helping efficiency. The V2 bowl doesn't have heat sink fins, which seems to help with extraction, as extraction is more consistant. The bowl and ball screen have also been improved. The V2 has the same airflow adjustment as V1, but now it is locked by the screw, which stops accidental changes. The V2 has a green temperature indicator pointer. The V2 also gives higher airflow due to a wider bowl and larger size balls. The V2 has 3 bowl size options via screen placements. 0.1g/0.15g/0.2g.
Super new to all this and may or may not have joined FC to stay up to date on the Tempest announcements 😆 hoping I can score one when they drop!
It's as good as people say. Blows me away everytime I use it. If you get the chance try and snag one.

This looks amazing, googled it straight away and found the shop. Lot of French creators in this space, that's cool!
Hope this goes better than my La Mixette order which never came :D

edit: ayyy i quoted/replied to the wrong comment, I was aiming for the one with leather accessories that look awesome!

Mine doesn't look like that, looks how you'd expect. I'd be a bit upset if it was

Hello everyone.

So, my wand arrived this week, and so far I have been very underwhelmed!

I'm using the ruby balls and mostly following the "HashOnMyMind" method detailed on page 382. But I'm getting really rubbish vapor production, far less than with a torch. I've tried between 300c and 350c, with the same results.

Do I need to buy better batteries, I'm using the ones that it was shipped with, or is there something obvious (to everyone but me) that I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like a height issue to me, how did you set the adaptor up?

Exactly the same as HashOnMyMind. I'll upload some pictures later on this evening when I can get everything out.

I've tried adjusting the height up and down, but was conscious I didn't want to get the VI part in the induction field.

I would put it lower like in Brenyos guide, then go from there. I also tried HashOnMyMinds method and liked it because of a bit more flavour, but found to have more consistent extraction with the "default" (like in the T2 manual)
