The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

In what way did the rubies feel better than the zirconia balls?.

From what I heard the upgrade kit essentially is a new top part of the head. New induction sleeve, ball retaining screen, indicator and indicator housing

Thanks for the info. i like the taste of the rubies more in the v1 at least compared to the 2,5mm zirc balls. the rubies are 3mm so im not sure if its because of the airflow.

i tried both in 2, 2.5 and 3mm. from my understanding rubies have a higher thermal conductivit, so they give a more consistent heat dump.

maybe shorter timeframe and need more calories to heat up, but i found them to give a more even roast in the V1.
havent tried in the v2 by now, the wider bowl just performs so much better with the zirc already.

Any idea how to use the C-shaped black plastic tool to get my CCD screen in? Have already completely bent it and it’s impossible to get it to lock in correctly. Do I use the reload tool?

Also, not 100% happy with the Tempest V2 so far. I’m getting pretty high, but I don’t really have bigger or better hits than V1. I would say maybe even worse — it’s mostly wispier hits, mostly one decently big hit, then maybe a small one and that’s it. I tried many configurations, depths, even switched to rubies and tried different stems altogether. I’m getting pretty high, but I’m not blowing clouds and getting these insane 15-toke multi-hits like i've been seeing around here. Granted, I’m on the smallest setting, but that should still be more than my go-to mid setting on Tempest V1.

Hope I can figure it out, as I’m happy with the increased heat — it’s just my weed is done before I hit setting 3.
ABV is dark brown and even.
The best hit I’ve gotten was without the spiral. There I had 4–5 hits, but it was too hot to enjoy and I coughed forever on and off.

I also had trouble with the tiny might which it reminds me off. Maybe its the more convection? Sometimes i got insane hit with the TM then i got nothing for 10 uses in a row and sold it eventually. Only ever got 1 good hit and that's it. With the Tempest v1 i could really one man hot box 4-5 hits giant clouds. I haven't been able to do that at all with the Tempest v2 so far. Maybe my model is broken and not air sealed or something? really not sure.

Would appreciate any advice, as I’m not selling it yet. I want to love it like I loved my Tempest V1. On paper, I love all the upgrades.
Going back to the glass adapter later and doing back-to-back hits with the Tempest V1. :peace:
So after a lot more testing, I come to the same conclusion as with the Tempest V1. It’s insane but the manual is a trap. :p

I couldn’t get any good hits so I decided to do the same thing I did with the Tempest V1 and disregarded the manual and made the Tempest sit much higher so the notches protrude about 5-6mm and upped the temperature to 300–310 with Zirc (330 with Ruby).
(Downside is you can’t see the VI anymore like with the glass adapter but I usually get a feeling for it and pull it to check.)

Head airflow is about 30–40% open and stem is fully closed. Results are insane. All of a sudden I blow huge clouds and the taste is so unbelievably good I would say I have never tasted cannabis like this in my life. My Frozen Lemon Mints tastes like I’ve drank a minty lemonade. :o
This is still at smallest setting so this is only the beginning. I will test a lot more but I can say this is a winner.
For me, minus the top housing screw issue, the definitive choice for a portable ball vape.
It’s not even that a Tornado or other vapes suck, but the Tempest combines many intricacies and details no other vape delivers.
The way I can effortlessly take gigantic OHE rips that make me lay down or rip many huge hits for a long time with breaks to be able to talk, not having to rush, was something I was always chasing and it’s here.
200% better than on Tempest V1 in that regard!!! Also the taste got even better IMHO! (Maybe the higher, better quality of heat or the more direct stem.)
Congratulations Brenyo, I’m sure once everyone got their hands on it this will be talked about as it pushed and refines the Tempest V1 in ways that actually pushes it over the edge fully!!
:leaf:
So to people who read here and are struggling: disregard the manual with depth setting and set the Tempest much higher and up the temp!! It’s about 1000% better for me now. In love to be honest! Basically set it as high as you still can get dark brown roast with around 300-310C.

It’s not all roses though, to be fair and transparent:

- My Tempest V2 floats on the top screw and scratched my Reload beyond belief unfortunately. I also looked for burrs and swapped to the flat screw from my Tempest V1. Still hovers even though it’s better. I feel my indicator housing has been maybe slightly misdrilled (0.5 mm or something) so sanding doesn’t help here.
- My CCD got nicked and it’s kinda impossible to set it perfectly now so it’s pretty crooked even with the C-shaped tool as help (very cool idea btw!)
- Also super minor: I wasn’t aware that it came with rubies and I bought another pair so now I have a useless pack of rubies and ball screen here.

Anyways, rant/raving over, have a good one family!

Sounds awesome. Could you maybe post a picture of the position in the wand? For me its a bit hard to visualize 😅

Schrödinger's rat!
... made the Tempest sit much higher so the notches protrude about 1–2 cm ...
Surely not 1cm to 2cm further out of the Wand?!
Apart from that being such a big range where only millimeters makes a difference, but if I understand your description correctly, doesn't this mean you've got the indicator housing right in the coil's induction effect and are heating that directly?
I'm probably not seeing it right, but just in case - I recall the v1 Vi could be damaged or at least displaced if heated too much, and start sticking.

Yeah im bad with heights. I think its more like 5-6mm! Blowing gigantic tasty clouds at 310 (low battery, so 300 probably better)
Stem closed fully, head open like 40-50%. At least for now its my favorite. :brow:

Got my V2 on Friday and been enjoying testing it out over the weekend

However I am also only getting 1 click on heat up - (hitting just below third bar which I know from V1 is roughly riding the line before combustion)

Is this an issue with breaking in the click disks?

It does take time for the disks to get it right, my Ti took a few days.

Its different from v1 for me at least. I get two clicks one at level 2 and one at level 3 then until time out the VI is maxed out always. On the v1 it was always between 2 and 3 never above. With Tempest v2 its always at 3.5 (maxed) for me and a click sounds at level 2 and level 3.

Update:
I have it set even further by about half a turn as it was very dark at 300 with new batteries.
Basically try to get it to the ideal color while setting it higher and maintaining 300 with new batteries.

I also added a little rubber spacer under the wand so its perfectly level! :science:

Funds are a little tight and I'm not going to be able to order an IH before my T2 gets here. How many of you guys are actually using torches with your vapes? Even if it's the T1, how has your experience been? Have any tips and tricks that weren't immediately apparent?

I've been using a torch as I can splurge on an IH until next month. Been using a torch for my T1 and T2 and loving life. Great experience with the torch, no esoteric tips or tricks come to mind. For my T2, I just heat to the second mark on the VI.

I did have my first combustion incident yesterday, typically after I'd just cleaned it... Not sure if it's because the material was too dry though.

I personally always preferred the experience with torch heating. Better flavour and kind of fuller vapor imho.
However out of comfortability i use ih (wand) for about 50% of my heatings.

Especially with the heavy weights (dani f2, tempest) i tend to use torch when i can.

My experience is - maybe apparent - that its all about the adequate torch. For tempest and dani i always use larger or double flames. For vapman m7 the small honest lighters.
Then a few seconds after the click and its perfect nearly every time :)

Ah one thing i forgot. I was getting perfect results since i started to position the torch in a 45 degree angle towards the top (instead of nearly 90 degree where i occasionally combusted)
Simrell demonstrated that in one of the first livestreams.

For me this was a valuable improvment :)

Just thought I'd give you guys a little FYI. I mentioned earlier that I found a sale on the Molicell P30s and I thought I'd give them a try. Up to this point I had been using the P28s in my Wand pretty much exclusively. I gave the P30s a go yesterday and I noticed a significant improvement in the performance of the Wand with these new batteries. I've only charged them twice so far, so I don't know if this will last the life of the batteries, but the difference was quite noticeable. Now I'm kind of sorry I just got one pair along with a pair of P28s.
I haven't tried them in a Tinymight yet, but they now own my Wand.

I've been playing around with 3mm rubies for a few days. I'm really liking them! I'm running them between 310c and 330c on automode till timeout

I'm using a mini globe bong a lot, and it starts to produce thick vapour more quickly than the Zirconia balls. When drawing slowly on my bong it was still producing dense vapour when my lungs were full. I got another full cycle, but the amount of vapour did start to drop off half way through. The zirc do retain heat for longer, so are better for longer MTL sessions

Ive got the adaptor set up around the same hight as the manual and in generally getting OHE with even extraction

TLDR - rubies are awesome

I have a creme brulee torch that I use when I need a bigger flame and assumed that's the one I'd need for this. I'm positive it's big enough because I've used it to heat up a really massive titanium banger and I can get the whole thing red hot with it

@cybrguy Would be interesting to see a comparison between the new P30s and the P30b too. But the P30S is not avaible in a lot of sites yet.
Forgive me for not being clear. The batteries I purchased were the P30b and the P28a. When I posted P30s I meant more than one P30. I didn't even realize there were S and B versions of the P30 as I was was only familiar with the b version.
