The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

“Impressive. Very nice. Let's see Brenyo’s device.”

Brenyo pulls a Tempest from an inside coat pocket and holds it up for their inspection: "BRENYO, MAD HEATERS, MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS." Bateman swallows, speechless. The sound in the room dies down and all we hear is a faint heartbeat as Bateman stares at that magnificent device.

“Look at that subtle off-green coloring. The tasteful thickness of that induction sleeve. Oh my God, it even has a watermark...”

His hand shaking, Bateman lifts up the Tempest and hits it.
Love that scene!

But on a serious note, I really love the branding and think it’s a bigger deal than some might realize.
Many people were disappointed by the lack of branding on the v1 after seeing it on earlier prototypes.
Without any branding, it looks like a no-name product, so having this tasteful logo is very important to me (and probably to Brenyo, too, as it helps make his brand more recognizable).

The green indicator is especially useful, since the silver-on-silver design made it very hard to see inside the wand.

It might've sounded corny to some, but to me those are big.

This is all i can comment on for now besides the look which i dig. I'm sure it will feel mesmerizing to hold in the hand with all those ridges, but since those videos are from his contact in China—I’m assuming shipping is already underway or imminent.
Soon i can judge performance, heat retention, ease of use and cooling! :science:

I hope the tariffs are paused or resolved by the end of May so I can begin shipping. If not, we’ll either delay further or I’ll start issuing refunds.

Does this mean EU has to wait for at least end of may before any shipping might happen because US tariffs?

I can't imagine that the US tariffs would effect Brenyo's ability to ship to locations on your side of the pond. It might even increase the fluidity of movement over there with more ships available that might have been heading here. The insanity is all on this side of the pond. Well, not exclusively, but the tariff insanity is pretty much just American (Trump) stupidity. The good news for everyone else in this thread is that MadHeaters is a British company and not an American one.

I normally don't like branding. But I loved the branding on the early Tempest models. Reminiscent of etched writing on the back of good quality automatic watches. It didn't convey a sense of cheapness. Quite the opposite.

The tariff wouldn’t be that much seeing as how it’s 10% at the moment. Also when is de minimis due to expire?

Even though I have somewhat sorted my method without having the visual indicator installed. I still hope I can get the update kit so my V1 head is a full unit. I hope this tariff crap doesnt prevent completing that.

It’s coming in June, not ready yet to be shown unfortunately.

This is upsetting news! I preordered the TI in the USA and I’d really love to get it. How does it work? Are they shipped from China or UK?

May 2nd for China and Hong Kong. The "Fact Sheet" reads like de minimis exemptions might still be in place for every other country?

If these ship direct from China to the U.S. we're screwed. If they go to the UK first and undergo "substantial change" or whatever the term is then they'd be subjected to 10% IF de minimis exemptions are no longer in place -- at least, that's how I'm reading this

They will ship from the UK, but the country of origin is what matters and it's made in China. Currently via USPS, it’s a flat rate of $100 per parcel now and $200 after June 1st.

Damn. That's some pricey freedom. Well, smoke 'em if you got 'em.

A historical event about tea and taxes keeps coming to mind for some reason...

i wish they even had a serial number engraved somewhere on the limited pre-sales version (or maybe even on all). would add more "opposite of cheapness". would be a totally unnecessary feature, but i would still value it a bit more if i knew i own .. lets say .. device #000420 ;)

The fact sheet says “30% of the value, or $25.”Where does the rest come from? Either way I’m willing to pay the difference to USA lol. Have already spent and waited this much 😀

Could you please confirm if I understand correctly that the final cost for the USA would be:

Tempest 2 – $245

Shipping before June 1st – $100

Shipping after June 1st – $200

Total
: $345 or $445?

I might be wrong about this. There was a change on the 9th from $25/ $50 to the 100/200, but that page was deleted since, so it seems like it’s still 25$ through USPS.

Hate to be a broken record but like others, I'll pay the difference if tariffs aren't resolved soon. Maybe you can have US customers reply to an email and then invoice whoever is okay with it.

It sucks, but what sucks more is having to miss out on something (that you ordered) because of a complete loser in the white house.

Dang man this tariff and refund talk is sad. I hope we have the option to pay the tariff instead of getting a refund. In most circumstances I would probably want a refund if it was slapped with an exorbitant tariff but I would rather just pay it in this case. I'm so ready to be done with combustion and I'm really close. I just need a daily driver that I like so I can stop carrying my hitter box and the portable vapes I've been able to get my hands on are mid. Seems like all the best portable options are small batch and hard to acquire. I used a tempest at a friend's house though and for sure could use that thing as my main device if it had a bigger bowl. The v2 looks like it actually might check all the boxes for me. These tariffs are so stupid and frustrating

I don’t know. If it’s a Chinese tariff you’d be paying 145% of the item cost, which would make it another 300 dollars or so. I love my v1, but I don’t know that I want to pay 500 bucks all told for the v2.

@Brenyo if these tariff refunds are going to happen let me know I’m going to change my address to my family’s in London. It’s been a while since I’ve seen them anyways.

If I’m legally allowed I’ll offer this to as many people as I can and just bring them to the US and ship them out.

The tariff must to be paid at or before delivery to USPS afaik. Hopefully they’ll have no idea how to collect the money and there will be a pause :D

It seems like it’s a flat rate of $25 per parcel atm.

Then you would have to pay 20% UK VAT instead which is even more :(
