Um, OK- i should have found out that this device has no "off" switch before i found out that it has no "off" switch? How does that work anyway?

Yes, i now know that i was a fool to assume that this vape could be turned off, like literally all other battery devices i have ever used or heard of in my life before today. But how was i supposed to know that, before i found that out?

.... You talked about how excited you have been for this vape, then you talk about how discovering there was no off switch ruined it for you... How long were you excited about it? Sounded like a long time, the fact that you kept talking about it, seemed to indicate that (FW7-10 have all had no off switch, details about these devices have been available)

The FATX is a winner in my book. Battery life is much more efficient. Heat up time is faster and the way you can preset the temps in three modes offers a lot in terms of usage. You are also in control of the type ways you want to vape it. Want it a session vape, put it at 390-410. Hold that button until you can’t puff no more. Want a one and done hit? Go higher temps or unregulated mode and thrash that flower. It is also great at MICRODOSING. The FATX is with me when I’m out and about and the Tafee bowle 2.0 at home. More portable vapes need to be as hard hitting as this but easy to carry. I’ve traveled with my TM2 everywhere in the states. But the FATX with its smaller footprint and heavy hitting extraction will be it moving forward.

I asked a question, thanked folks for answering my question, and since then have been responding to you.

"Kept talking about it"? Maybe.

Sorry i am not as psychic as i apparently should be.

Would someone with an X please share its dimensions? Figured I'd look around at what Hermitshell (or similar) cases may fit one. TIA.
(plus, this is certainly a way to avoid accidental button presses for those concerned about this).

Of course, theoretically Ideal. I say so because there is no other information.

It's hardly worth speaking for everyone. Some people are annoyed by my desire to try a new experience, namely to try a metal capsule in FATX, although even Mark wrote to me "it might work if you find a suitable capsule"

If we talk about suitable capsules for FATX, then I ASSUME that Hyperdyn capsules are best suited for FATX. Perhaps this tandem will be the ideal of all possible options. It's just my opinion and I'm not imposing it on anyone. I have highlighted "ASSUME" in caps so that you will hear me correctly this time and not waste your time delving into linguistics.

OK, I'm going to explain this to you one last time, and I don't want to answer your questions about the same thing anymore, which seems like a provocation. ;)

The FATX heating chamber measures 11*8 up to the level of the air holes, while the Hyperden capsule measures 10.5*9. There is a possibility that the Hyperdyn capsule will not close the air travel and will work normally. Now we don't even have to talk about convection and grooves.
Nah, I'm just annoyed cos you seem to think physics doesn't apply to you when you get push back and speak with conviction about things you haven't proven yet. It ain't your end goal that's the issue for me.
I haven’t had that happen to me at all. How many things are you carrying with the FATX? I have my FATX in my pocket and even have my dog sit on my lap without any buzzes. Your button must be more sensitive
If I have the button turned in and against my leg it can go off. It does appear to be more sensitive than my 7 and 8 based on what happened when I slid my thumb across the three of em. I'm just gonna take a two battery case with me as my spare now. It's not orders of magnitude bigger than a one battery case and it solves the problem.

Jeez two batteries? Are you a hiker? Or like being out and about? I typically only need 1 battery fully charge for the day 🫢

I don't go anywhere for a significant period of time without one spare even if one battery should be more than fine. So, yeah, two batteries it is since I ain't comfortable with em sitting in the vape for now.

Howdy (and apologies if it's in this thread but I couldn't find it), so we have any idea when the Xs will come out? My firewood 8 got destroyed after nearly two years of daily use and I popped on the firewood site to find the coming soon landing page. Thanks for any info!

Actually, no, I'm sorry, seriously. Sorry, my fault.

Does anyone know if it's safe to flip the battery around when not in use/in a pocket? If so....it would stop misfires

I was meaning to suggest this instead!

Could you tell us what happened, why Firewood -8 stopped working? I'm just curious about the possible causes of the breakdown and how long the device can work after purchase.

Your irritation provokes you to continue to cling to me, continuing this meaningless conversation. Hey, this is a forum, different points of view here are normal. Regarding the laws of physics, it's very funny, considering that I've told you about how convection works. :DYou even agreed with me later that the capsule could be cramped in the heating chamber and it would be difficult for air to pass between the walls. :brow:Perhaps it was I who opened the world of fascinating physics to you, and you are trying to hurt me.:spliff: don't worry about me, I have a master's degree in engineering, I accept physics for what it is and I won't fight it. I call you to peace, there is no point in arguing and getting angry. Practice will show whether the capsules are suitable for FATX or not.

This was my first post in your conversation about capsules, and while I admit I mis-spoke, and as you didn't answer my question (don't waste your time) now I also consider your all-caps a snarky response, I'm out.

Your tone struck me as sarcastic, my tone struck you as sarcastic. I think we're even and we finally understood each other. I apologize to you too. Some people were annoyed by the capsule discussion. I have nothing against you and am ready to answer constructive questions. Please don't be offended.

Yeah, I didn't agree to that at all and have corrected you on this assertion of yours before. You've also not taught me anything about convection in our chat. And I'm just going to assume you specialise in electrical or something unrelated to this subject given you thought "hot air rises" had any relevance in a system under suction.

My dog ate it! I got a pitbull that recently developed a taste for sticks. I had the device disassembled for cleaning and left it where I shouldn't have. Oh well, that's on me!

My firewood 8 was working as well today as the day I bought it. I know not everyone here loved the 8s, but I loved mine and had zero complaints. Daily driver with no problems. Great machines. That's why when mine got chewed up I went right back to the firewood site to see if I could order a new device.

MHL

Try hard noob
Pity the poor designer/builder.

Marc releases vapes with small, slightly recessed buttons and a good number of people complain/mention that they are hard to use and "fiddly" and "it would be good if the button were bigger and not so recessed."

Then he releases a vape with a bigger button that isn't so recessed and people are concerned because it's too easy to turn on inadvertently.

I'm not saying any of that feedback is not legitimate. I'm just sympathizing with a creator coming up against the impossibility of pleasing everybody in the modern online "let's-all-talk-about-this-together" world.
Exactly that ^^

I guess the trouble is that the problems don't present themselves until you try the device. You think it's a solution, but in fact it causes other problems. I've never needed an on/off with the smaller recessed button. But I can see how it might be nice to have a bigger, easier to fire button AND an on/off switch. That would be the perfect combo. Failing that... great idea reversing the battery 🥇

Are the internals any good still? Marc's pretty damn generous with how long he'll offer support etc for his creations, he may have the technology....

Just make sure it really has reverse polarity protection before trying the battery reversal though, otherwise the magic smoke might escape...
Yeah, as an owner of the TM1, I ain't doing shit til I hear back that it's possible.

Good idea on the repair! The circuit board seems unaffected, though it would need a whole new body. I reached out to Mark to ask about any units for sale, I'll follow up to see if he has any spare f8 bodies lying around. Otherwise I will join the firewood 10 waiting line

Ha! Knew my brain was tingling for a reason, that it was Time to check the site for a new FW. I’m hyped for the new form factor, Marc iterates good (for context, I’ve liked all FWs I’ve had, 2 to 9, 6 & 8 a step too complicated, 4 & 9 favorites, FW7 heater was a huge upgrade).

If I was gonna change anything from FW9 (my only device since it came out) it’d be a little smaller, rounder, and a bigger button (I see this last one is in play, likely a firmwear solution?).
