What's the capacity of the dosing cap?
It's recommended not to fill it full, so, when 3/4 filled with tight pack, the load is 0.15gr (empty dosing caps without top lid is 0.98gr, when filled as mentioned it's 1.13gr.
This looks great. What’s the price and when will US retailers begin to stock them?
Hi, US Xmax Starry 4 availability may happen sooner than expected, we thought Mid-May but it seems a few North America retailer already received their shipment... Price is 99$ (US).
I really wanted to get a starry 3.0 but didn't like the issues that plagued it such as requiring a silicone sleeve, temp sensor error (overtime), cracked ceramic bowl (troublesome), and device heating the battery bay, even my XLUX ROFFU when used at hotter temps back to back, sure the battery gets warm naturally from usage, but I touched the inside of battery bay and it wasn't bad.

Conduction vapes toast your herb more darker which is good if you are trying to squeeze out all the cannabinoid resin out of your herb to get the most bang for your buck, people hate on conduction but to be honest the best medicinal benefit I got was from CONDUCTION styled vapes.

Now moving on from all this, I do look forward to seeing more reviews of the STARRY 4.0 it does seem promising even the other review doesn't seem bias and was neutral even said FLOWER in the STARRY 4.0 the body of the starry doesn't get uncomfortably hot

However STARRY 4.0 isn't a dedicated WAX vape, I can see it being used for HASHISH though since HASHISH can still be vaped below WAX's recommended vape temps. Hashish is just extracted TRICHOMES using organic methods of extraction (cold ice water and bubble bags).
Hi, I want to confirm you we fixed all the kinks encountered with the previous version, body T° is now 4/5°C less due to the improved insulation, sensor error wasn't a Starry issue (it probably happened a few times but it was an error we seen more with the V3Pro), as well the cracked ceramic bowls are due to too strong scraping, please remenber despite ceramic seems sturdier than glass it may be broken even with a tooth pic, so be gentle, that's all ;).

Reviews will come, I believe reviewers just got one week testing... Stay tuned!

Yes we decided to release the Starry 4 as a Dry herb vaporizer with the idea the dosing caps will improve a lot the taste profil by keeping the chamber clean, the use of wax may defeats the purpose above... Although the high T° range and the chamber's shape are both ideals for pressed resin vaping, why? Haschich need high T° for full cannabinoids extraction, as well, cause its density you may take advantage of stirring and the large chamber helps for stirring! For hasch I suggest to mix it with flowers for tiny amounts OR to wrap it in hemp fibers, insert the ball in a dosing caps and enjoy spicy resin hits (it's my fav to enjoy the full&true taste of the hasch. You can use the optionnal wax pad too, but like its name said, it's best designed for concentrates like wax, shatter, rosin,... or the Oil Pod with cotton in the bottom which is designed to vape SMALL amount of runny concentrates like Distillate.
In stock at VPM @ $139CDN, I think I can wait till the price is better, don’t really use my Starry anymore. Will probably get one at some point, need to see some reviews whether it changed much.
Already in stock?! It's amazing cause they expected our shipment not before mid-May!
Wait, what? How is it already for sale?
This thread is still in the "unreleased vapes" section and the OP hasn't said anything about a release date for the Starry 4.
It's released (available for wholesale at Topgreen/Xmax), but there is always a small delay between our release (for retailers) and the public release (for customers), sorry for trhe confusion. I'll ask to the FC Staff to move the thread out of the "Upcoming&Unreleased..." section.
From there overall review of the STARRY 4.0:

XMAX Starry 4.0 Pros

  • Excellent build quality for the price
  • Included high-quality stainless steel dosing capsule
  • Good airflow and clouds
  • High maximum temperature
  • Lots of features for a budget vape

XMAX Starry 4.0 Cons

  • Bottom of chamber prone to crumbs under the screen
  • Taste isn’t the best at higher temperatures
  • Overpacking leads to clogging of the mouthpiece filter and restricted airflow
  • The Starry’s body will get hot after back-to-back sessions
Thank you for the detailled review, it's interesting! What do you mean by "Bottom of chamber prone to crumbs under the screen"? Are you afraid the chamber crumbs? Or do you means a few crumbs of bud can be stuck in the bottom of chamber below the mesh screen?
About overpacking, yes it's mentionned in the user guide to fill the chamber/dosing caps not fully, it looks like some room is needed to build vapour. The hot body is now 4/5°C cooler than previous Starry's version, although a silicone sleeve will be released in June.
They are talked about quite often by Canadian people as a good supplier of vapes as some US companies will not post there...they have many happy customers from FC.:2c:
Looks like the Starry 4.0 is available for sale in Australia,
And most of the usual Aussie sellers say it is due this month.
The gays/gals at XMAX sent me a unit to try and I will say the latest version fixes most of the cons the V3 had...looking forward to them releasing a ceramic WPA similar to the last version as I have heard great things about it.
Any idea on a release date for a ceramic WPA @XMAXVAPORIZER ? (I work for XVAPE, not XMAX so I have no clue...about a lot of things:lol:).
Hi my friend, the Starry 4 ceramic WPA will be released in June (with silicone sleeve and dosing caps five-pack), it's great to know the Starry 4 is already available in Australia, Europe (France) and North America (Canada)... and probably more I'm forgotten!
The Dosing Capsule we received with our Starry 4 doesn't look like this one. See below.

Regarding the ceramic filter, this part needs to be kept as clean as possible. If you allow the Dosing Capsule to cool in the device and remove the Mouthpiece Assembly, it will pull the cap off the Dosing Capsule along with it should resin not be cleaned from the ceramic filter.
Yes, I was surprised while looking at the @LeftBased pictures cause his dosing caps bottom got twice less holes... now, thanks to you, @cannabis.pro I understand better... I'll ask to the team what happened with your device... I suppose your review device was sent before the dosing caps production or we sent different dosing caps models in order to test them out...? I'll keep you advised asap!

About the dosing caps to be glued to the top lid... Yes, prefer to remove the dosing caps right after the session when still hot/warm, it's normal there is a reclaim layer on the ceramic filter, you can wipe it clean when still hot or warm too.

Feel free to ask whatever you want about the Starry 4. I like the new timer settings, the Starry 3.0 offered the choice of a 5mn session or a 10mn session, for me 5mn wasn't long enough and 10 was too long... Now, I use the 6mn timer which is perfect for me (but you can choose 4, 6 or 9mn), have fun!

I found the pictures from another reviewer online, I think the reason why they said it was hot because they were running it at max temp with the dosing capsule, and any device at max temp is going to be hot especially if they go back to back vaping.

I notice with any device with dosing capsules at high temp back to back the heat will escape the body that's just by design and nature of all devices. However sleeves help with people who are more sensitive to heat.

I am waiting for more reviews from actual reviewers who are experienced with vaping and know what to look for, I feel a few reviewers misjudged the product, because they haven't had much reviews under their belt. But it's interesting to see some unboxing videos. And people doing test runs, sadly some reviewers exaggerated the cons.

My fury edge body gets warm if I set max temp or close enough with dosing capsule, and if I do several caps the body gets really warm but not enough to cause any burns. people forget these are portable heaters encased in metal.

Reviewer said on a video that doing flower no capsule keeps device comfortable for them but they still list being hot as a con, but failed to list they were using dosing capsule at max temp.

464f isn't used for flower but hashish maybe 🤔
I see most herb vapes between 410~430f degrees.

People forget the max temp on starry 4 is for some concentrates like hashish that does require those temps for efficiency.

I do not have a starry 4 yet, I received my pax mini and hate the restricted draw of the flat mouthpiece, even my other old vapes that I do not have anymore have better airflow, I had to swap the mouthpiece on my pax to the raised just to open up airflow even then the efficiency relies on a tight pack, while I see people using xmax starry 3.0 and 4.0 without a tight pack getting even vaporization results.

I feel like starry series is truly a great alternative to the pax series. Starry is really the future of conduction. I now got to try the latest pax at a discount, but rather stick to xmax products, and looking forward to purchasing a starry 4 as my daily conduction hybrid.

Ceramic is really good at heating up and makes sense to give full vape efficiency only cons is brittleness if you mishandle cleaning it roughly, I will do take care in carefully cleaning the chamber.

I do look forward to a sleeve / smell proof case or cap kit for the starry 4.

Xmax has been awesome with their sleeves, accessories. It sure beats the PAX.

Hey, Tools420 writer here. Do you think I missed anything? Always open to feedback.
Well not you, but the first reviewer from dabconnection said unit gets too hot, I'd figure it's because dosage capsule, because in same video they used flower and said it was comfortable and not hot but in their overall review stated different opinions.

While your review was nicely detailed. I think batch units vary, some people got a v3 pro that was tuned too hot, and others got a more tamer batch, I figure it's the new batches released that will have some variance.

However these devices are going to get hot because of heat escaping from the metal body. My fury edge gets hot from back to back.

Maybe I am overanalyzing?

Looks interesting as a beater mod. Unfortunately, it appears like many of the less expensive conduction devices, there is no way to clean the entire airpath. Can’t get under the oven bowl. My Davinci IQ2 is superior in this regard, but much more expensive!

You make a good point, I like cleaning the air path in the PAX Mini, at first had some issues because I wasn't tamping the bowl properly, now that I got a small packing tool it works great. However I am still interested in the STARRY 4.0 just wish I was able to grab the STARRY 4 before buying a 420 deal PAX mini. However for the price it wasn't as bad, but in the end had to pay additional (lost the 3d plate into bio-waste, had to get a pack tool and some oven plates). The pack tool really helps getting maximum vapor.

My FURY EDGE, I can't clean beneath the heater, I can clean inside the heater, I can clean inside the mouth piece and remove the gaskets and glass tube to clean deeply in the mouthpiece. Starry 4.0 still is price effective $100 you get a nice herb kit and works with small packs and full packs. It's basically Starry 3.0 improved as we know how XMAX listens to the fan base. Their engineers work out the kinks.

I like that it has an adjustable airflow, PAX MINI/Pax series lacks adjustable airflow, sure you can use aftermarket parts to increase air flow.
However these are CONDUCTION vapes, darker abv, more sleepy/stonier if using properly with a firm tight pack. Not saying the PAX MINI doesn't work with a finger packed bowl, it does but it's more efficient if you tamp it in with a tool.

I figure any vape that has conduction values do good with a tighter / or firmer pack. It would be nice if XMAX designed a tamp tool for their starry series. Since it's oval, they could make sort of 3D Printed oval metal pack / scoop tool.

I have discovered over time that if I want Convection, I have a specific device for that, otherwise I want Hybrid tech on every other vape. That being said I am always looking for that late night, conduction-style vape and I think this could be it! Really like that price point, temp adjustment and the colors are gorgeous!

Used a translator on the video description it reads as:
I must confess that a couple of days after this video my sensations have improved. The mouthpiece does not have as much silicone in the vapor path as I thought and the flavor has improved considerably after removing all the factory residues. Still the thin ceramic of the chamber (worse than the Ace) and the design so continuist after so much time, still leave me a bittersweet feeling with what could have been and was not😣

Hello! I am the guy with @vapormachina
Actually we started to use the starry 4 in a hard way after the video. In uts high temps +closed airflow it is a great device for mtl hits and hashish!
Right now i have no time but i have to do a good review over here! 🦄🍐

Circling back here on the Dosing Capsule photo posted on the previous page of the thread. Thinking that what we received with our Beta Starry 4 is the "Wax Cup" and not the actual Dosing Capsule which looks like the one shown with the indented cap whereas the Wax Cup cap is flat on the inside and has the notches on the sides of the capsule. Sorry for any confusion here!

are the magnets going to be weaker like the Fog Pro.
Hopefully they used proper magnets.

The Fog Pro is/was a lovely vape. I find it visually attractive. It has a huge bowl. It sits nicely in the hand, and has a fairly solid feel, but all that is ruined by magnets so weak, it requires using a finger or rubber band to keep the top on. The second fail is having to use a whip adapter to hook the unit to a bong. If the device had a proper WPA, it would make it much more useful.

For any vape designers who might be listening, here is my suggestion. Use the strongest magnets available. There is nothing worse than a vape that keeps coming apart during normal use.

Magnet for the stock OEM mouthpiece is proper on the Starry 4 IMO.

There is a Zirconia/ceramic WPA in the works for the Starry 4 that is a proper WPA and not a whip hacked solution. It's not ready yet, don't have an ETA but perhaps @XMAXVAPORIZER can share more on this new design and when it will be available. The design looks to be on par with the stock OEM mouthpiece in terms of the bottom part that connects to the top of the main body of the device and the rest is a 3 tier stack for the 14mm & 19mm (not sure if the top is 10mm).

Nice Beta Starry 4! As you can see, we considered to name it differently!
Xmax has been awesome with their sleeves, accessories. It sure beats the PAX.
Thank you for the kinds words, keep sharing when you'll get your Starry 4, to be honnest the heat isn't a concern.
Maybe I am overanalyzing?
... a little bit probably :D

We can't compare the devices considering the price difference... But I want to say I'm still getting a white sparkly clean Starry 4 chamber on the device I use the more... exclusively with the provided dosing caps though... with herbs, wax and haschich (all using the dosing caps), so, in short, the Starry 4 with dosing caps is probably the cleaner conduction based device. This is have an huge impact on taste too, if you keep your dosing caps clean you'll get really, really good taste. To be honnest this is the best improvement in the Starry 4 imho, the adjustable airflow is a nice feature but the dosing caps and cleaner vaporpath shed lights on flavor!
Pre-ordered from 420EDC this morning. Can't wait.
Great, I can't wait to read your feedback, see you soon!

My starry 4 just came in this morning!

I will report back later when I have time to put it through some test runs.

OhOh, great news, yes it's better to use it a few days before to post feedbacks, hope you enjoy it!

Yep, the silicon holder+ceramic filter conceal the vapor, this is keep away the vapor to touch the top lid itself like in the previous version or Ace, it's better for cleaning and, as a result of, it's better for taste.

Yes, in fact this cup is the "Resin cup", it was originally made only for the Vapefiend Spirit ( Starry 3.0 rebrand) and designed to vape pressed resin since haschich is very, very common in Europe/UK (but not the US quality hasch, it's traditionnal hasch)

The Starry's magnets are very strong, even stronger than the Starry 3.0 magnets imo, I think the reviews will say the same I believe.

Yes a silicon sleeve and wpa are planned to be released in June. I'm not sure but I think it may be slightly different than the Starry 3.0 wpa but I may be wrong though...

I wasn't on FC these last days cause we encountered a few issues with our SubReddit r/XmaxVape , we was banned cause being unmoderated... I was the only one Mod and we got a porn spams attack, it appears a few spams were shown in our sub for a day or two before I notice them... But we are glad to announce our subreddit to be online again (we added AutoMod and another Mod will be added to the team later), best regards!

Thank you for the reply back! Didn't know about the "Resin Cup". Now I'll have to look for some quality hash to throw in it and give it a whirl. Looking forward to trying the actual Dosing Capsules now too! Totally familiar with the EU hash vs. domestic US produced hash. Always a fan of quality regardless of origin. Here is what we have seen in regard to the WPA:
The whip option is still available for the Starry 4 in a WPA or Bubbler but I think the above looks like a much better solution.

From the Tools420 review comparing the Starry 4 to the V3 pro:
"Since the Starry uses a conduction-based heating system though, its vapor won’t have any sort of terpene flavors"
1000% false. He must not realize he can start at a lower temp.

Hopefully they used proper magnets.

For any vape designers who might be listening, here is my suggestion. Use the strongest magnets available. There is nothing worse than a vape that keeps coming apart during normal use.
What if the magnets are so strong they're stronger than the glue holding them on the device? One guy's Roffu came apart that way...

I assume they just incremented the number in the Xmax v3 pro. Probably their question would be better on that thread though.

I wasn’t asking that question, I was responding to the question that doesn’t make sense to me….
