What's a guy got to do to get a stainless rim conversion for a v1 premium? I didn't put in a warranty case for the minor scuffing on my aluminum rim but now I wish I had. It's not listed in Accessories on the store and @FlowerMillJohn does not respond to DMs.

Take my money? :shrug::shrug:
I emailed them back then. They were quick to respond.

This right here. I bought my premium mill in 2021. Emailed my order confirmation and was given the option to buy an upgraded version for a great deal while getting to keep my original if i would like. Believe I could have just gotten a refund but hey, this grinder is too good not to use. I'm lubing mine up with a tinnnnnny bit of food safe mineral oil to avoid dusting of any kind. Even so I run my vapes through water so I'm not too worried about metal dust inhalation

Done! Thanks for the tips guys. I've never used a water piece of any kind but I'm also a freak about potential aluminum inhalation. I suppose the metal filtration goes high in the "pros" column for water pieces.

John offered a killer discount for a completely new Premium. Anyone who wants to upgrade from a v1 premium should Really think about emailing them :)
I just might do that. I have basically not touched my Premium FM since the first reports of aluminum dust. I can see wear on mine but I guess I was hoping it was a simple fix. It's fine because I have other grinders that I probably like more, but it does make me annoyed when I see my FM.

Thanks for the advice!

Would love to see this grinder claw it's way back up the ladder. Not to blast competitors but BCG's anodization has been reported to flake off in the past too but I didn't see this much backlash (unless I'm mistaken) when that was an issue. John's absolutely doing the right thing in selling the replacements for what I assume is near cost (including labor and overhead and whatnot). Reputation and consumer trust is extremely tough to regain once stuff like this happens - but I hope this will work and can't wait to see what else they have in store.

How is the consistency of the grind? Is it comparable to that of the grinder with teeth, as the BCG?
How much is easy with the grind?

Very consistent, very fluffy, very easy to mill.

Since it uses a fairly different mechanism than tooth grinders (hence "milling v. "grinding"), you should check out some of the flowermill videos.

Cleanup is practically non-existent. Users with weak grips can mill their flower easily. No squishing flower between little teeth. Thanks to the lack of teeth taking up space, the capacity is huge. Mill an eighth in seconds. Stainless milling surfaces - healthier than an any aluminum device.

If your flower is a little bit moist, there's still a bit of technique to practice - mill both directions, apply the correct downward pressure and rotation speed. Practice with small amounts before dumping an eighth in.

Best grinder available in my humble opinion and limited experience.

Yeah I felt confident John would take care of me if / when I reached out to upgrade my premium as well... I will at some point!

It is worth getting the full plate kit to control the grind and consistency further, I wouldn't say it's so comparable because it's such a different experience, overall it is easier although you do have a bit less control over the consistency manually in a sense... There are variables between both of them, the other reason I have not upgraded my FM yet is that I rely on my BCGs much more as a personal preference only, if anything BCG takes more work and FM is maybe the easiest ever? It's just not really a grinder

Oh yeah the plate kit is necessary to dial in the consistency you want. Can't comment on BCG... never tried it

Mill consistently wins my reach test. BCG is lovely but really lovely to not to need to smush flower between the grinder teeth. Just so much more effortless. And a more elegant solution to achieving different grind sizes

Oh for what it's worth, I don't smush flower in any of these, I always break smaller nugs to load carefully between the teeth, and I found that the FM works better with smaller nugs more or less the same size carefully spread out when loaded in as well...

Ordered one today. Got the 4th piece too. Hopefully this one will collect pollen as good as my other one did….but i honestly dont see any reason why it wouldnt as good or better.

I've not had any issues just dropping whole nugs into the FM. On any of the sizes of inserts.

That is a big part of the deal. No smushing or pre-breaking down of beautiful nuggets unless they are huge. So the terps stay in the game and make it to the bowl instead of on your fingers as much as possible.

Yeah so in my experience if the nugs are wildly different sizes then it will not grind well, or if it is just too big of a size or maybe for me it's hard to get a few big nugs in that same size, just putting in one big nug does not grind well I need to break it up smaller to fill the whole chamber, to get a more consistent grind, depending on herbal variables of course... Pretty hard to avoid touching fingers to buds for me and my style

Holy shit this thing is awesome!

This thing (SS version) feels like a tank. It feels well built but not overly heavy. MUCH more solid than my SCS (which by the way i will be giving to a buddy if mine). Had the superfine plate in there and i think i will be going up one step to fine.

VERY little effort to grind (mill?) the bud tonight. I was VERY shocked how few turns i needed and how consistent the grind was. It was almost effortless. I can definitely see why it was brought up in the “ easiest on the hands” thread.

Not crazy about the price, but this thing is well worth the cost. So glad i ordered one.

I read about a few people complaining about metal dust in the newer version of the grinder. I thought this problem was fixed, does anyone else report the same here?

Not sure how that is possible since it's stainless steel

How would you notice metal dust in the grind? If they were shavings or chips, i could see, but dust? Maybe the trichomes were just shiny in the light.

Questions about the Mini:

What size mill plate is in the FM Mini and
Do they plan on making a SS Mini and/or other size plates For it?

Any Aluminum dust issues with this one?

I would say it is coarse, second most coarse from the regular FM.
See my post a few pages back with pics of grind:

It is a fixed screen, so I don’t think they can add any other screens, but I guess you never know…

That was a while ago. I had the old one and it sucked because it didn’t much to get aluminum dust or whatever the dust was.

Either way, I have the current model and it’s fantastic. They made it right. I would buy the current model in a heartbeat if I lost mine somehow
