Discontinued RBT Splinter (All Versions)

I have a Splinter Z and want to use it with water pieces. I have a 19 mm male to male adapter that works well, but I notice it is slightly longer than the RBT stems and am wondering if this may hurt the heater. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I have jimmied up a connection via a short RBT stem and a short amount of whip attached to a 19mm gong that attaches to my water pieces, but this introduces plastic (even if its medical grade) into the vapour path, which I would rather not do if I could help it.

I noticed that Herb Cafe offers RBT glass WPA's that states it fits all Splinter, Zion and Milana. I am just wondering if this will fit my Splinter Z? Also has anyone tried the universal WPA that Sneaky Pete offers on the Splinter Z? If it works well, that would be a much less expensive option for me.

So a splinter Z should only require 19/22, don't necessarily need 19/19 for the WPA which is the stock RBT one although it gives you extra room, if the one you are using is longer than your regular stems, they may not necessarily be a problem... What you want to check is how well it fits inside your splinter, carefully, if it is not sealing fully with the glass, and resting on the screen, you definitely do not want to let it rest upside down on top of the stem as that could put at risk of breaking... There is always variance in glass, delta 3D studios also makes a universal WPA and there are other options to turn regular stems into WPA, but I would actually recommend a custom WPA from Good Vibes Boro though you may have to wait a little while on the list, there are some other options though like Rogue Wax Works

Thanks for the reply.

I might have just gotten a breakthrough with my Splinter Z. I don't have a mod that supports the firmware out there so have had to go with just wattage mode. I have an extra long EXL8ator stem and while good for nice long sips, I find I can't get those lung busters that I could from hitting out of a bong/bubbler. However, when hitting through water I have the issue of hotspots and scorching and no matter of twisting the stem during/after hit, I still have issues with it.

However, just now I tried just using a long whip dry and while it doesn't get hot on the throat with extended draws like a stem would, I am able to feel the vapour much better and am able to feather the button much more effectively. This so far (two 3/4 bowls extracted) with 38 W I have been getting cloudy big hits like from a bong, but unlike that, the extraction is fully even without the usual hotspot in the middle and I didn't have to twist the stem at all. While this method doesn't give as good of taste as from a stem, it is about on par with using water.

Therefore, if this continues I might not need a WPA as I would rather get more even extraction, than the comfort that water provides.

Added bonus, the long whip makes it much more portable (and less risk of breaking) indoors, and if you don't care about looking silly in public, works fine for vaping outside.

Hi, long time I couldn't log in here! 10 years no combustion!
I have a rattle in my Splinter, since i tightened it too much onto a now obviously faulty wismec mod box or whatever you call them, i think it's a 2020 onward stock splinter so whatever is rattleing about in there os safe for my health? whatever fragments there was probably already came through to my lungs?
Anyone know?
any help would be much appreciated

I suggest going to a hardware store and buying a roll of Teflon tape. A few winds around a slightly narrow joint and it fits like a glove. It is between the glass joint of the Splinter Z and the glass of the WPA.

wouldnt know for sure until you opened it up but they're pretty simple inside. if you wanted to know for sure, a hot air gun or hairdryer works great for getting the base off. gluing it back together is a bit tricky you need medical epoxy. there's a single use kit on amazon for like $13

likeliest thing is the screw broke in half, or the insulator around the screw broke. if its the insulator that broke im not sure about sourcing a replacement or if its safe to use - ceramic dust? if its just the screw, they're like a m2.5 or m3 i think.

this is what you're looking at internally - that white in the rda deck there is the ceramic

You see the bit of white hard plastic mikka or somthing, with 2 holes next to the wood rbt, that's what's broken inside, is that unsafe? or probably damage done already?

Thanks @Stonedbadger and everyone! still holding out hope for potential partial salvage

Meanwhile I got some new WPAs from Good Vibes Boro recently and they are pretty perfect (despite the ground frosted joints):

Forgot how well this sea turtle orb rig works with it as well! New 18-18 matches this mod:

Damn, I was too slow...the wenge splinter z...I didn't need it but...You know how it is.

This is peak laziness but could someone send me the splinter profiles? I've been reorganizing and found a nib espion that I don't remember buying.
Apologies. I couldn't resist, especially with how it matches my Mi2. This will be my first Splinter Z. Pretty stoked!
