Nice find ! Hopefully using torch wont destroy the soapstone ,cause candle flame lighters create black soot -
""a deep black powdery or flaky substance consisting largely of amorphous carbon, produced by the incomplete burning of organic matter"
is smth you dont wanna be inhaling.Other than that pretty cool concept.

I love the look of it, looking really cool with that gold-coin looking cap on the bowl.

What worries me is exactly what @Abysmal Vapor brought up, having to use a yellow-flame lighter instead of a torch, because the yellow flame lighter does not burn up all the butane, and creates the soot mentioned above.

They should upgrade to natural crystals ,i am sure rose quartz is way more durable than soapstone.

i have to say soapstone looks 1000% better. Look at it! seems some kind of nordic rune!
With natural crystal looks like a "this crystal helps you to sleep" (well, in this case...it would be true):rofl:

(just my opinion of course, but i think this looks awesome...performance? that´s another story)

Well it might look better to you then quartz but there are other way more beautiful crystals and stone which have higher durability then softstone which you can chip with your finger nail..
Google crystal pipes ... you will see whats up ,.,.
I have tried to make a local company produce dynavap stems of those ,but i needed to order 1000 pieces minimum so it fell through,,

I know what you mean. Im not talking about durability or beeing a better material. Just the look. I like the "old Stone rune" It has.
As the same way i can tell you the crystals you showed i like the one wich looks like wood. But It is a visual opinión, everybody has one :p

Do you know how It works, seems some kind of vaporgenie/alivi8

Well they can use black obisidian then :)).
Have no idea on how it functions though, not much info on the site.

I agree with @kokolokokolokon , I love the look. I agree with @Abysmal Vapor , I worry about the carbon build-up from the Bic and a crystal vape would be cool, but this struck me, "Introducing The Odyssey, the only direct-light, convection instrument delivering the pure essence of cannabis flower in real time – with the simplicity of a pipe."
Correct me if necessary but doesn't my Sticky Brick Jr do the same?

It's got a vintage look, as does their website, but would the soapstone get beat up over time?
Not a vape I need to get, more like I want to get it. On the backburner radar.

in obsidian would be Epic
The image is like: "i show you what you can see without the drawing" xddd maybe It has nothing more. Isnt the sticky works like that? (I dont know)

Well IMO it is what it is. I dont see how the air doesnt make a short cut through your material leaving one side greener than the other. Maybe it is the mesh cup that conducts heat also and makes more even bake. Maybe there is some tornado effect or smth.. i dont know

As with sex toys, rocks aren't very safe to use like this. I'm sure some rocks are safe(?), but I wouldn't risk silicosis or bacterial buildup with them. Like wood, all too many pick an airpath based on it's aesthetic rather than it's functional safety. (I'm recently guilty of using wood airpaths with the VG and NOVA, but I'm not comfortable with this choice long term).

Having a DV stem made of obsidian or jade would be kinda epic, although I have no idea if there are any health risks associated with using those materials, but from an aesthetic POV it would be awesome.

Also interested in this, looks great but would love to hear someone else's review on it.

Drilling a hole that long in natural quartz would be a nightmare task with the added risk of the crystal splitting at any time. I'm curious how the did it, probably a very expensive bit.

I'll hold off on my first review of the Odyssey until I spend a little more time with it. But I already feel a connection to it. Kristen ,the women who made mine , went to college in my home town, and was there the year I got married in the college chapel. small world...

I'll start by stating that I bought this vape mainly for nostalgia. I wasn't expecting it to compare or compete with the modern technological wonders that we are accustomed to using these days. I enjoy rotating my vapes for their subtle "vape signatures " as well as their unique designs and aesthetics. My collection is about diversity. Personally, I thought it would work similarly to a Vaporgenie, and I suppose it does. The look and feel are just what I was hoping for and the fact that they package it with a case, lighter, extra basket screens, pipe cleaners, wooden stash tube filled with stirring toothpicks { it is a standard toothpick holder :) }, is nice to see. Too many companies would simply sell all of these separately as accessories.

What might not be obvious from the diagram of the vape is how the air path holes are staggered. The depth of the basket hole is twice the height of the basket itself and the lighter hole is drilled diagonally down to the bottom of the basket hole. the airpath then goes up thru the basket , exiting thru a higher hole to the end of the mouthpiece. simple, but there are some drawbacks. If you draw to hard , the heat from the flame will start to combust. 🤢 This is never going to be a flavor chasers choice. So far my best effort was to take few hard pulls without a loaded basket in an attempt to get some initial radiant heat into the soapstone just prior to using. also going a little slower than I thought I needed to and taking more draws. You can't rush this without consequence. I tried the recommended "no grind" without much success ,then some finer grind which was also not great. I think a course grind will probably work best, time will tell. No worries, I like sipping on some vapes as much as I like taking big rips off others.

If the old school pipe and lighter feel is what you are looking for , then I don't think you will be disappointed, but it's no Tinymight

Thank you! Do you think that you will eventually be able to achieve hits more like you want, with practice?

I can't believe I'm actually saying this and I am being serious, but I wonder if a few 4mm balls (or a flavor disc?) in the bottom of the chamber would diffuse/turbulate the heated air enough to tame it some?

I remember the learning curve with vaporgenie, vapman, dynavap... so yes, I think in time I'll achieve better results but within reason given its' design. I bet that some glass balls in the bottom could work great. Excellent idea !!! anything to diffuse the airpath a little. Even Vaporgenie used a heating element to radiate heat . I vaguely remember it being some type of porous ceramic or stone ?? But it did at least interfere with the direct flame. The loose glass balls could be a bit of a pain, but I wonder if there is enough height under the basket screen for another sealed basket. I have some that were used in the Fury. Let the experiments commence . this is why I love this community. thanks again for the suggestion, I'll report back soon.

Yeah, the "flavor disc" or "health disc" is a ceramic sponge used to do concentrates in a bowl, or per the VG, as a heat diffuser. I think the VG ones must be a special 'grade' or size because it allows more air through than a regular ceramic sponge does, as far as I can tell.
