Who's doing hash / kief bowls in the anvil these days? Or does that really need to wait on the helix? Thoughts, @Whiff ?
Me and a lot lol, half bowl with a mixed up bit of kief and hash let’s me get two full rounds of thermal battery hits. Right now I have a oily black hash so I make a flag and press it into kief then crumble that up. If it’s straight flower it’s one round but the hash is keeping it oily enough that the second round is equal slapping without combustion, it’s killer.

I found adjusting the airflow to be tricky too. I think the easiest way is to unscrew it from the body before hitting anything. Adjusting the airflow, and where to aim your torch, would be amazing things to add to a set of instructions. I realize this isn't a fully formed product, but it seems weird to have folks join a discord to get a basic tutorial and diagrams.

Man this thing is doing my head in
i cant get any sort of decent airflow
is it just the way it is? Super tight milkshake hits? That Can’t be right?
damn near bust a bloodvessel trying to hit this thing??

Got the score line to the bottom of the window so it should be on ”open”
Rotate so the score line moves to top so should be “closed”… no difference.
maybe mine is defective some way but I don’t see how, took it apart a few times already..
Are you packing the oven or the little chamber? How fine is your grind?

Looking down the oven you see the condenser stem with the screen in it. There is an air gap around it. It has to stay clean.

I was having a similar issue when I read Whiff say "screw the airport valve all the way down", then set it to fully open. That completely resolved the isue for me. Just make sure that valve bit is screwed all the way in.

Make sure the top portion is seated completely against the lower assembly. If it slips up just a few millimeters on the airflow valve--no matter where the valve is set--it will restrict the flow. I've accidentally pulled mine every-so-slightly apart while unscrewing the oven, and it pretty much shuts off.
Hi there. John here.

The easiest way to ensure the airflow valve is open all the way is to slip the oven off the valve. The condenser will come along for the ride. Now screw the airflow valve all the way into the stem. Re-attach the oven. Install the condenser by slipping it into the oven and then screwing the herb chamber into position.

In this position the airflow valve is fully open. Screw an empty herb chamber into the oven and draw. You will feel plenty of airflow. Now pack the bowl a little less tightly than you might have previously and give er a rip. For a video explanation please check out "Vestratto Primo Airflow Control" on YouTube.

I just got the Purple Haze, and this thing bangs! I was scared of such a small bowl since I historically vape larger bowls in heavy hitters. I got a ride the line click after about 40 seconds. Thick tasty extraction and it has a nice "signature" effect. AVB was DARK brown. I used the Blazer pen whiff uses, BCG medium grind packed tight, into a dub bub. One fat rip and one light/medium. I'm looking forward to experimenting, as I'll only get better at using it.

I got the hardcase which I recommend. I wish I would have gotten another big bowl, and I will pounce on a larger size bowl if it gets offered.

Noice!!

I am always surprised how much vapour the Anvil produces. It is also true, that because the Anvil is convection biased a little looser pack will really make your herb go further. If you come down with the torch to the copper line just below the gap you can still get a full extraction but with a little more tan estratto. To be honest that's my favourite spot. You've done absolutely the right thing getting the torch dialled in to a 40 second SNAP. That gives the herb time to de-water, pre-heat, de-carboxylate and then literally explode into the convection air stream. That solid "heat soak" is, at least in my opinion, an important part of getting the most from the Anvil.

Thanks for the reply’s everyone. Yeah it something to do with the valve, probably me just being chemo brained lol.
in the Vestratto video it says to screw the valve in just to the second o-ring…maybe that’s changed now on the user edition. Cuz you guys say now screw it in tight first instead.
I only have like an hour a day right now to play with this thing so not much time.
It just bugs me as a dynavap guru I couldn’t get this one going smoothly right away lol.
I think once I mess with the valve again I will fix it! I had it to lose I think.

will report back tomorrow!

YES! This exactly.. when I screw the valve to the second oring as in that video, the airflow is super tight, but once the valve is screwed all the way in, it opens up.

As soon as I screw the oven lid part on, it cuts off all airflow. I’m talking about unpacked here for everything, no material.
Taken this valve off and and back on like 20 times now.
I think it’s the lid part, but it looks completely normal?

Gently/firmly, push the two ends towards each other - chances are it's not seated properly and that is cutting off the airflow.

I’m ready to toss this thing lol
doesnt work, no matter what, no matter how I screw in the valve fully or just to the 2nd o-ring, no matter how I put it together.
try to blow or suck and it’s no air no noise, just clogged
going to have to send this back or to whiff to test it, or set it to wide open for me lol
all I need is this thing on wide open airflow…

I’m heating the thermal battery directly, takes maybe a minute to get my 2 clicks. Full extraction.

I took a quick video of my technique, and a picture of my abv.

ABV:
Video: https://streamable.com/gsfky9

I couldn't get a video of the actual hit, because I promptly knocked my phone off my holder after the 2nd click lol. But I am directly on the thermal battery.
Thank you for this. I started there but then moved it since it took a long time, and I originally thought it was only 1 click.

This actually may be my issue all along too. I've never seen that "gap" when the airflow is all the way open. Hoping my piece is just not put together correctly. Will take it apart when I get home.

Nothing for nothing, but this is yet another reason why there should be instructions. Coming from a Dynavap people might realize that there are 2 clicks, but even that isn't common knowledge. Don't even know if these o-rings are ok to be soaked in iso. Or the cap, which I assume shouldn't be soaked, but would be nice to have official info on that.

its already been officially stated that the orings (viton) all parts including the bowl are safe to soak in iso. just make sure not a lot of moisture is lingering in the click disks.

I have found that I can determine the airflow restriction by drawing on the unit while you are rotating the oven (either slightly push the oven in or out while rotating). There’s no guesswork involved this way. You either feel wide open or closed airflow this way. You need to have one hand on the oven with herb chamber in and the other just below the bottom of the heat shield.

Push the oven in all the way first, then adjust while drawing and gently pulling/pushing the oven as you rotate it at the same time.

Having a tweet or a reply on their niche sub isn't really an official statement that people are going to see. But thank you for answering that for me

I was using these off amazon. outdoor .

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07L8YPYQK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A363SD1GLRZRGI&psc=1

I couldn't tell you the exact temp outside but i live in a fairly cold country.

I LOVE that torch... It's the one I used everyday, and I've spent 100s on all sorts of torches and #s of flames lol. It's cheap, convenient, the tank lasts forever, and I love the precise contro lof the flame -- you can set it to very low and still get variable lengths with how much force you press on the button.

@whatitdew my suggestion is to take it apart. Put it back together piece by piece testing when you air flow stops.

thanks guys, I’ve done all this. I’ve taken every piece apart inspected, put back, together, then blown through or inhaled. Many, many times now.
Once the condenser is seated and chamber/lid is on it just cuts airflow.
I stick the mouthpiece end in my mouth and try to inhale while turning the body to adjust, never any change.

In a couple hours from now I’ve got some time again to mess with it but I’m at a loss at what else I can try here.
dont mean to clog this thread up with my whining lol, but I need to figure this out it bugs me!

sent video to whiff, showing me assembling it together and he said it looks wide open

This isn't whining. This is what this thread is for, not just to jerk off the maker. It's for any type of feedback. More importantly, support.

Do you see that line moving at all to adjust the airflow?

Just a guess, but it sounds like it's seating the condenser that's the issue. Here's what I suggest trying: Assemble the device as mentioned, screw the valve all the way down until you can't any more and also push the oven all the way down so it touches the bottom section of the device. The only difference I would suggest is to not "install" the condenser. Simply slide it in, then screw the herb chamber on. Let the chamber set the condenser position as you screw it in, but as you're doing this just be careful that the oven doesn't separate from the bottom section of the device.

I've noticed with my Users Edition if I install the copper core oven, then push the condenser all the way down using a dowel the airflow is noticeably restricted. By not pushing the condenser down all the way, you leave a little gap for air to pass through.

Once the condenser is seated and chamber/lid is on it just cuts airflow.
When you install/seat the condenser are you only using the herb chamber to seat the condenser into the stem? Try holding the battery tight to the stem and twist the herb chamber on to set the condenser in the stem?

Maybe you might have the condenser in too far some how? It might not be your air valve. I had something like that happen to my founders and it was from me pushing the condenser in too far.

Whatever you do don't give up, you'll regret that :D

Edit: Seki beat me too it

If anyone is interested I just ordered enough O-Rings to do 12 full services on my Anvil. Got them from theoringstore.com This would cost $116 with shipping normally. All are Viton except the heat guard one on the outside, that one is Buna Nitrile as listed on Vestratto site. Why 12 sets? well there is a 12pc minimum on the Heatguard oring. Maybe split the tab with a fellow Anviller.
