I think you can go for 33-35 Watts.

I’ve got my Herbie V2 arriving any day (got Anvil a week ago) grabbed myself a Wismec RX Gen 3 dual and an old school Pioneer4You IPV5 box mod in SS to match. But the Gen 3 Dual is weak AF when using it with a Stempod Si 2.0 or DreamGlow and I definitely can’t get Arctic Fox to install on it. I also have an old RX80 Mini and a few Aspire NX75’s and a SmokAL85. Do any of you very experienced users think I should get a better/different mod? If so..,which one? I just don’t want to come up short with this thing. I would have bought the kit but I have soooo many 18650 batteries. I’m realizing a SBS mod might be better for the herbie?

Received mine today. Wanted to try it at my lunch break with CBD but I'm quite bummed that this vape is delivered in a kit you have to assemble yourself. I thought that at least the mesh would have been the right length and I would just have ti fold it like it's shown in the manual but mine is way to long so now my my mesh has a lot of folds marks and I can't make it straight anymore...
Do I have to guess the appropriate length and do trials and errors ? Why wasn't it pre-cut and folded the right way before shipping ?
Did everyone receive a mesh that's way to long like me ? Could you tell me what size did you cut it please ?

Every Herbie V2 comes with a pre-installed coil. We packed an additional stripe of mesh into the parcel if someone wants to build his own. The stripe is a way longer than needed in case that someone wants to try something different. That's why the additional stripe is there.
Could you please just pull out the base and check if there is already a mesh mounted?

We did not fill in the glass balls if someone does not like it.

My Herbie is still in transit but I can vouch for the Rx Gen3 Dual. Maybe try a different USB cable if your pc doesn't recognize it for the Arctic Fox install. Make sure you keep the cells charged too. I seldom take mine below like 3.7V for any of my Splinter Zs because you can feel the slight loss of performance. For new mod options I recommend the Joyetech Espion for a two cell and the iStick Rim C for a single cell

Mine didn't came with a coil installed. When I saw the spare mesh, pulling out the base was the first thing I did and there was nothing in.

Good point. Some USB cables are “power only”. Fine for charging, but you need a USB cable that has the extra “DATA” wires inside to install things like firmware updates.

👎 That is lame. I was already apprehensive about my first rebuildable 510; not even having the mesh installed in the first place is disappointing from a quality control standpoint. I've never used an ecig atty and was not trying to tinker with diy mesh shaping

That was our mistake. As mentioned, every Herbie comes with a installed coil. We are learing the processes of assembly, quality control, packaging, shipping etc. We are really sorry for that.
I already contacted @Momor via pn for sending a folded coil.

If you want, maybe I can make a video how to fold a coil.

It was a mistake from their part but they already apologized and are taking care of me 👍 (thank you @Vape Engineering)

A video would be good. I’ve built many an ECig coil, but knowing the fold dimensions would be helpful. For anyone that has never used a 510 mod using coils like a ModPod, or SS304 mesh as the HEATER, it makes sense to learn how to properly install coils/mesh in the unit. Making sure all the terminal connections are tight, and read the proper resistance. The bonus is the heater wire is replaceable, unlike the heater in a SplinterZ.

I’m hoping you continue to try and test Stainless Steel 316L, as it’s considered a better SS to vape from, over SS304. I would buy more “mesh”, if it were 316L, until then, I’ll use my own dual 316L coils. Thanks!

Ok cool thanks for letting me know the Gen 3 Dual is suffice. I use married Molicel P26A’s and never let them below 3.7V. It’s just the older mods like the IPV5 and Aspire NX75 fire as hard at 1/4th the wattage but it’s probably my coils on the stempod causing it. I can’t figure out TCR settings at all but hopefully I can install AF on the Gen 3 Dual if I can get my damn computer to recognize it. The Herbie V2 looks awesome can’t wait to get it any day now.

Yeah I know mine is the data cable because my computer makes a chime sound when I plug it into the micro usb. I have all the Arctic Fox and NFE tools downloaded and ready to extract directly to my device but no way of locating and accessing my device. I admit I’m having to do it on a recently updated Windows PC and I’m an Apple/Mac user and am out of tube with Windows. I’m sure I’ll figure it out.

Thanks, yeah I knew it was an accidental oversight.

So... what happens if the mesh touches the base or touches itself? Looks like a lot of mesh without much anchoring to keep it in place

Hopefully since no-one should ever be using those in mech-mods or in bypass mode on programmable boxes, it should just trigger a "new coil" message on your mod and ask you if you want to use the new reading or not. That should be the tell-tale something's gone wrong and you should open the atty and inspect the mesh.

If ever it were to hard short itself, most recommended mods should throw an "atomizer short" message and at the very least refuse to fire the atty.

Partial shorts would lower the overall resistance, increasing current and thus power dissipation ultimately, but it could also create super hot paths and make part of the mesh glow hard. I don't think the mesh size used here is that much at risk of vaporizing itself in that case, but those made with finer strands definitely can.

So I imagine in power mode you would get a mouthful of brownish vapor or worse smoke and choke a bit... In TC mode if the mod fires it should adapt to the new resistance and regulate properly.

Thanks, that is perfect !
I managed to shape the coil well i think but now i can't manage to create a good temperature profile in escribe. can someone help me please.
First i don't see written TCR nowhere, do you know where it should be (if it should be somewhere)
I think i read that the mesh coil of the herbie is SS304 so i uploded this material
It works in watts (tried just once and got a hot spot) but each time i try make a temperature profile i get "temp protect" when i fire the mod.
I'm a noob with box mods and don't really know what i'm doing so i need help if possible 🙏

Edit : found where to put TRC value in escribe but still get "temp protect" when firing

Do you have the cold ohms set in your TC profile? I recall receiving that error with my Splinter Z and the cold ohms were the issue.

What’s your tcr value in escribe? They have a different formating for tcr than non dna mods. Might just need an extra 0 somewhere.
I put 0,001020 as recommended buy the manufacturer in a precedent post.
Escribe tells me that the TCR value should range between 0,0008 - 0,0100

The recommended TCR is for SS304, if Escribe does not already have that profile you can download one from steam-engine.org

“Temp protect” just means the mod has hit the temperature you set, so it’s dialing down the power to hold the temp steady, i.e. it won’t get any hotter.

Whether the temperature value reflects the actual temperature in the chamber is debatable. Use values that give you the feel you want, knowing that TCR will maintain that feel.

That said, I’m strictly an AF guy but I imagine the principles are similar.

I downloaded SS304 material tu out in escribe but not a profile. Is it different ?
Just went to check on steam-engine but don't see where there are profiles (don't see no search feature neither).

I get the message instantly and there is no heat at all.

Retried this morning and I gets a little bit better. Not sure it's the cause but I changed TCR value for 0,00105 as I saw it mentioned on an e-cig forum.
Good thing is it seems to not giving the "temp protect" message anymore.
Bad thing is I get a real hot spot. There is always some weed sticking to the MP screen and it gets charred.

Below a photo of the coil I built following the instructions and a photo of the herbes sticking to the MP screen

Appart from performance right now I have to say that this vape is very well made. I think i would have preferred that all the pieces screw together (at least the body to the deck) but the fit is very good with the o-rings.
If I can't sort things out with my mod I'm gonna wait confirmation from members that this vape works perfectly in TCR with the paramour and then buy it.

Good job on the coil. So are you running you're herbie in wattage mode ?

That looks too uneven in the pic with the dark abv stuck to the screen yeah.

It doesn't use SS304 but if you want to pm me your email address I can send you the Splinter and Splinter Z ecigprofiles I used to use before I moved on from color DNA mods for all my RBT 510s. Someone with more technical understanding would have to let you know which if any of the specifics might be useful.
