Tetra P80

Vaporific

All who wander are not lost...
Just tried my new P80 for the first time after a few burn offs in on demand mode (1 click after the initial 5 clicks for ON). Not bad and tried it in warmup mode (3 clicks though I haven’t gone into the menu to explore or change the warmup setting). I’m still in the learning curve. I got some nice cool vapor with nearly all draws except the second for some reason. I packed the tank stem with a mild Sativa (for me anyway) and put a basket screen over that for neatness initially. I did a light tamp too (can’t find my tamp/scoop from Delta3DStudios though - argh!). I’ll spend more time with it tonight. It’s definitely not going on vacation with me as it’s too new and I don’t really know what I’m doing yet.

I managed to flip the display after a few tries (yay) and I want to change it to F from C if I can. The tank stem got pretty hot (of course I should’ve known) and need to be mindful not to reach for it to check the load while it’s cooling down after turning the vape off. Much more experimentation and re-reading do to tonight. Pics soon too. :peace:

EDIT: admittedly and embarrassingly it took me a few minutes to figure out how the fire button worked. Who knew? The directions do not indicate where it is. Love the Molicel p26a that came with it; it needed charging.

I’ve enjoyed using warm to cruise and warm to temp step.

the temp step feature is really nice.

Ive also enjoyed using the nub stem attached to the whip. Much cooler vapor this way and not hot in the lips.

Have only had a handful of sessions so far because I broke my first stem after one day and had to order and wait on some backups lol. P80 was such a tease during that wait but here are some thoughts.

Had a couple days where I would get hotspots and uneven heating and some charring, stirring halfway through helped. But then I tried my other backup micro cooling stem and have been getting pretty much a perfect cook every time. It's impressive. I believe that my other stem might be defective :/ and that was causing the issues I had for a few days with uneven heating.

I have also tried the XL8R stem and it works well. I have found the need for temps to be 5-15f higher than the lamart stem. I believe the XL8R stem sits slightly higher than lamart stems. So that's just a heads up for the XL8R stem if you are considering it. The microcooling stem cools the vapor incredibly well, but after 2-3 hits the tip gets hot on the lips and I have to take a break for a minute or so before continuing. I like to temp step manually so far and have found the longer stem of the XL8R is more ideal for this usage case. For a quick on demand hit, I have like the microcooling stem and how compact it is. Easier to take out for a hit and then put back in my pocket for later. I still use the stem for session too but I have to take my time between hits in order to do so, still enjoyable but I can't just mindlessly take back to back hits with it. Regardless, I have yet to have a hit bother my throat in anyway, the vapor is smooth as I have ever had.

I am messing with basket screen loads exclusively so far. I am soon going to try .02-.05 sized loads to see how they fair. But so far I have found .1 to work well and even going above to like .12-.13 had really brought it up a notch. I was loading full at .15ish for a few days and it definitely worked well but I am liking it packed 1/2 to 3/4 full just for using less flower overall but still getting great hits.

With my Enano, I use to stretch out a load to about 6-8 its and would slowly temp step up. With the Tetra P80, I have found it to give me less hits overall (but bigger hits). I have lowered my temp stepping to about 3 or 4 different settings and get about 3-5 hits overall with 2 or 3 of them being bigger hits. This vape seems to just demolish whatever I throw into it. For reference, I do 390f,410f,430f. Maybe I'll do one in the 350f-370f for flavor, but I have found the simple and higher temp step like this to be more fruitful than temp stepping from 350 to 430 with 10 degree steps slowly ramping up. But again, I'll have to experiment more to confirm. Also, I have only used a fine grind in the vape so far and that might be contributing to less hits overall. I will be switching to a medium grind today to see how that changes things.

I want to experiment with on-demand mode or trying to take smaller hits (shorter duration) to see how that goes. Not that I don't like monster hits (some of the biggest I've gotten from any vape btw), but I also like being able to get 6-8 hits off a load if possible. So I'm gonna experiment with on-demand mode and time my hits to see if I can stretch things out a bit more. I'll update when I've thoroughly tested it out.

But long story short, this vape is awesome. It's definitely a power house that has gotten me some good effects. I have still only had a handful of sessions and will report back when I've had more experience with on-demand and temp step mode. I have only tried warmup to cruise thus far and it's been great.

One other quick update. I found that the basket screens were making a mess on the bottom screen for me because the load kept falling out of the basket. I started tamping and it helped a bit but also caused less even heating ime. Taking the first hit upside down helps but still wasn't a perfect solution for me.

I finally had a couple sessions yesterday in a basket screen and the bottom screen area was spotless for the first time. Here's what I have found to work for me.

Do the straw method to load your stem, then do a hard pull on the stem for a couple seconds to try to lock in the material. Turn the stem upside down to see what falls out, do the straw method again on what falls out and give another hard pull. Continue this as much as you want but I usually stop right there and then place the stem into the vape. The straw method followed by a hard pull on the stem seems have worked for me so far. Then as Shit Snacks mentioned earlier, just do the first couple seconds or your entire first pull upside down for good measure if you want. But ya, i was finding the cleaning of that bottom screen a tad annoying but this seems to have resolved that issue for me so far. Just a heads up for anyone concerned about that.

That’s a nice write up. Thanks for your perspective. I’ve not had much issue with flower falling out of the basket. I just take a pinch with my fingers, press into the basket and push it down a bit. But I use a medium grind plate so maybe mine is more corse?

So far started my second load in my P80, each with a basket screen at the end of the tank stem and the basket screen falls a bit. I can hear it not to mention a light whistle when I draw. I’m not pushing too hard on the stem when inserting it and can draw on it upside down. I managed to change it to F (sorry C fans) and have gotten better at the clicks when it’s on, though reaching warmup mode (3 clicks after on) is harder than it should be.

Second and current load I packed in the basket screen and lightly tamped (still can’t my my scoop but it’s somewhere!). Now that I’m in F I can assess things a bit better. I’m getting some nice vapor and taste. I’m waiting 10-15 seconds when I think I’m in warmup mode and take a few draws every minute or so. Vapor is cool, stem gets hot (must remember this :) ). I’m definitely baked so it’s working. Still need more practice and usage. I also want to check thr preprogrammed modes and try to adjust those.

Oh, not sure if there’s a misprint in the instruction sheet or if the +/- buttons reverse themselves if you flip the display; I easily get to the menu with the button on the left when the unit is free standing while the instructions say + and Fire button. When I increase temp it’s the button on the right (and decreases with the left). My eyes ain’t the best and I don’t see any indicator on the buttons themselves.

And… I received two tank stems instead of a tank and a nub. I’m enjoying the tank so far (only 2 loads in) and couldn’t imagine using anything smaller, i.e. the nub. More experimentation, more Indica! :peace:

@Vaporific I too had problems setting the p80 to wtc mode.
The great thing is all the settings can be adjusted and reasinged to whatever mode you want. So now any more than one click is tcw mode.

WTC? What’s that? On the instructions I see On Demand, Cruise (session mode), Warm Up, and Temp Stepper modes.

Is it normal for the basket screen to fall out of the stem all the time? This may be an OCD issue for me, lol. Just don’t like rattling noises when I’m vaping. Sunday regards to all. P80 experimentation re-commences… now. :peace:

There is a video on the lamart site thst shows how to address the basket being too loose b

Thanks! Forgot about that! I did watch it a few weeks ago. Just packed another screen with it enlarged - much better! That little conundrum is resolved.

Needed another battery since the inherent Molicel is drained (I have others). Still having an issue getting to cruise and warmup modes. Not sure why they don’t dial in more succinctly. The learning curve continues I guess. Busy weekend out so I can’t devote tons of time for experimentation. I’m definitely feeling effects and last night the P80 knocked me out (I was tired anyway). Still getting the knack of this vape but so far so good, as to be expected. :peace:

I’ve got the 5 clicks down for on/off but once it’s on trying to get directly to cruise control and warm up modes (2 & 3 clicks respectively) doesn’t always seem to work. It’s not that I’m incessantly trying but the few times I’ve used it they’ve been hard to come by. Warm up is where I’d like to be regularly and then learn how to program/customize that which I think I know how to do. Baby steps - I know there’s a learning curve. :peace:

Yeah I've still never even tried the warm-up future, it's easier for me to manually warm up on demand or cruising, my own preheat.

I had the same issue with my tubo evic. I had to go in the menu and change the enumeration for warm2cruise from 0 to 1

Warmup2cruise from 0-1 does not change the clicks, that's a different setting, that changes how much the heater relaxes when it's not seeing a draw instead of constantly on, his manual explains the different settings

Can anyone tell me if I need the 19/19 or the 19/22 of this item for my TetraX. And if the Tetra is 18.8 and this is 19, is sanding off 2mm doable, or is that too much? Thanks alot.

18.8=19=18mm
Only the other number is different, and it refers to the length, the others are all the same, referring to the width, and 19/19 is the only custom length one, 19/22 is fine and many 19/26 will fit the tetra as well!

Sorry SS, can you elaborate just a little, I'm still not quite understanding.......so what your saying is the frosted glass part is 3mm longer on the 19/22 and that's the one I would need to fit in the TetraX? So when looking at other stuff for the TetraX, the most common one I should look for is 19/22?

Sorry, never had a Lamart or RBT before now, always wondered what those meant, and what a joint pack was. Tried the joint pack last night for the first time, I thought it would have more difficulty and maybe some inconsistency's........yeah, I was wrong, lol! 🚀 Flavor was TOO intense, had to stop half way through, lol.

Well this is the TP80 thread I think? But yes I mean all those terms are interchangeable, like 18 mm and 14 mm, it's 18.8 and 14.5 I think, so often it will be called 19 mm and yes the other value is length whatever joint it's not necessarily frosted but a ground glass joint is common... Yes safest to go 19/22 if you're buying aftermarket stems like it after to send such from DHgate, but there's always variance with glasses so fit is not necessarily going to be perfect...

Thanks! For shits and giggles I just measured my two Tetra stems and two Stempod stems, and the Stempod's were just a little shorter than the Tetra's, so atleast now I see what your talking about.

Lol, I had been waiting for someone to post something about the stem sizes and thought they referred to the diameter. I’m a relative glass newbie. I’m still confused with the 19 & 22 designations. I know of 14/18 but that’s it.

I’m 4 loads into my new P80 and still getting the hang of it. I definitely see the benefit of heat soaking it a bit before first draw. I haven’t used in demand mode much and thought I would (I always do with my Tinymight). I’m going to fire it up now. Oh, and the extra flat screen that came with the P80 fits my TM’s heater ring perfectly, just in time to take my TM with me on vacation (P80 is still too new). I needed a new screen for there so thanks P80! You’ll get your chance for travel one day :). :peace:

I hope this explains it for you. Glass can get complicated.

  • The number before the slash is the diameter of the large end of the ground area. This is the point that is gauged.
  • The number after the slash is the length of the ground area in millimeters, measured parallel to the axis of the cone, that is, not by laying a ruler on the ground area.

Lol!! Yeah, but now we need to know what ground and gauge are!! ;) :hmm:

And I'm still waiting for this answer ☝️..........still haven't used my new Tetra in Tubo mode because I've gone through every single line there is in settings and I can't find one damn thing anywhere of why this flipped on me. My temps also only go up or down by five degrees even though I have it set at 1 degree increments in the settings. Been using it with Arctic Fox so far and it's been more than totally fine. In fact it runs 100 times better than it does in Tubo, which tells me there's gotta be more going on than just the temps flipping sides.
